Lassana Diarra

Only if he works hard. Rumour is he's fond of a drink and not a particularly hard worker a la young Dunne. Needs to get his head down if he's to fulfil his potential.

This may sound like an odd comment but it just struck me; you seem to know a fair bit more about English youth than most on here(just seems that way with some of your comments about Campbell and Micah Richards). Is this just a completely irrelevant point or do you follow English youth more closely than others?

The idea that he's fond of a drink implies you know a bit more about English youth than most.

But yeah, if he's willing to learn then he can become a quality player. Intelligent on the ball, disciplined when he needs to be, makes intelligent runs forward and puts in a good shift.

Exactly the type of player England could do with, in terms of real quality, in the future.

No just what a Shitty fan told me tbh. I'm interested in English youth players and I suppose I've got a good memory but I'm not exactly an expert.

He is a good player and wouldn't look out of place in a top four side.

Funny how a couple good months and suddenly a player is worth near 20m fee and near 100k per week. City is going to make a mockery of the transfer market even the likes of Chelsea would blush at.

Sadly he is exactly the type of player they need, him and Ireleand will be good

They already have Kompany whose a similar player.

And they have Johnson, Elano, Ireland, Hamann, Gelson.

How are they gonna fit that lot in?

He's better than all of them except for Elano and Ireland who are more attack minded players anyway.

"who is your father?"

"micheal essien..."

god i hate diarra, really is a twat

On another note, surely City can't stop him from being played at Portsmouth while he can? There was a little furore over Tim Howard not being able to play against us 2 seasons ago ("gentleman's agreement").

That "gentleman's agreement" was crap generated by the retarded media. Howard was still on loan. The only agreement was the permanent transfer at the end of the season.

It's going to fuel wage inflation for everybody. Up to now Chelsea have been paying up to 50% over the odds that's about 100% over the top. It'll will be City's biggest impact on the league.

You lot have no need to worry though. Wenger will just sell a couple of the highest earners (best players) and replace them with some kids.

The downside is of course that you won't win anything, but you're getting well used to that by now so not to worry.

We pay them kids heavy pocket money - our wage bill is over £100M a season.

There was a thread a few days ago about which newspaper was mot correct in their transfer-rumours

Who was at the bottom of that list ? The People wasn't it ? And why do I bring that up now ??? Hm...I don't know!

Or does he?

Madrid close on Diarra deal
Real to seal move for Portsmouth star

Real Madrid are set to seal a deal for Portsmouth midfielder Lassana Diarra, according to Spanish sources.

Skysports.com revealed on Monday that the Spanish champions were ready to move for Diarra - who was being lined up by Premier League outfits Manchester City and Tottenham.

But now Juande Ramos looks set to step in and land the 23-year-old former Arsenal and Chelsea star.

"The big players are already in the Champions League and cannot be signed," Ramos is quoted as saying.

"If the players do not have the quality, then we will miss them - the players have to be worth it."

And on Diarra he added: "He is a player I know well, and I would like a player like Diarra here."

It is claimed that Real will pay £9million for Diarra and they hope to announce his signing in the next 48 hours.

Diarra is being brought in after his namesake, but not relation, Mahamadou Diarra was ruled out for the rest of the season.

Man City £18 mill, Real £9mill. Its a bunch of bollox.

Selling him to Real for £9m would mean a £2m profit for Portsmouth, it's way too little seeing as he turned out to be quite handy there.

I'll be quite amused if Real manage to sign him from underneath the noses of the richest club in the world..

I've been really impressed with Diarra since his move to Portsmouth; far too good for City.

Clearly Diarra will want to goto Madrid but City will possibly offer more money - will be interesting to see what happens

Could be that City's wealth wont help them get any great players (as they are too shit) but will just force a lot of other clubs to pay over the odds for players that City are interested in

I'd go to City if I were him.

He moves clubs each year anyway, so he will collect the money and move to Real Madrid or wherever he wants to move.

The Sun are reporting that a deal with Real has been agreed, with figures around £24 million, which seems exaggerated, but there's no way in hell it'd be £9 mil. I'd be mighty pissed if he costed half of Hargreaves, he's younger and far less injury prone. I think he's got a bit more bite in the tackle as well but that might because he goes to ground more than Hargo.

and he's absolutely class in FM09, plays exactly like Keano for my United squad
