Not consciously, but the company he is in elevates him, imo
Interesting view and I would have maybe agreed to a certain extent had it been for Schwarzenbeck (with regards to Der Kaiser, Breitner and Vogts) and Costacurta (relative to the Milan defense ofc), but I'd have to say it speaks volumes that Bergomi excelled, in his own right, as a brilliant defender in several eras littered with Italian defensive giants - Scirea, Maldini, Baresi etc. Guess, we will have to agree to disagree on this issue.
