La Liga 2024/25

According to some twitter accounts, Bellingham said "if that's a foul, then that is a penalty".

Who knows.

No way that is a penalty. The player had already shot the ball.

Of course it's a penalty.
This is a debate forum but I did not just give my opinion, I also explained why it should not be a penalty, which you didn't. These plays are known as "residual plays", there are tons of examples of penalties not called in similar actions.

Smashing your opponent's feet will always be a penalty, regardless of where the ball is. There's nothing in the rules about what you talked about.

EDIT: Just checked the English IFAB exact wording, and Camavinga's challenge was at best "careless" (penalty), but the ref must have considered it "reckless" (penalty + yellow).

The pen given is an absolute joke

Football is slowly turning into a no contact sport

That was always gonna be given. I’m actually curious as to the rules because plenty of times have I seen it not given if the player already got the shot off.

Osasuna players are trying to see how many fouls they are allowed to make without a whistle. Even in the latest Mbappé chance there was a big foul on Mbappé before the admittedly great defensive comeback.

Dark arts masters.

I would be going mad if a was a Madrid fan, why the feck was that offside called here?

Game turned into a joke a good while ago, so can't really be bothered anymore.

Not a bad performance the second half given being down a player. Don’t think it will be enough though.

To get a red for dissent then you need to have said something really really bad.

It may not be in the rules as such, but it is a common term used by referees to help them interpret and explain the consequences of the plays, once the main action has happened.

I get the reckless part to be honest, so it may be the right call after all.

We need new advanced xFouls and xPenalties stats.

I don't get why Mbappé's seemingly never in the box when Vinicius dribbles from the left, it's been a pattern the whole season.

To be honest, I get what you mean. As you are implying though, I feel like this tolerance only applies to regular small fouls and goes out the window as soon as it's dangerous in any way for the opponent.

Now Atletico also down to 10. Three stooges stuff this season

Madrid getting robbed with non existent penalties three games in a row is hilarious. The whining about the refereeing isn't paying off to say the least.

How is that not a penalty? Camavinga was just careless. You cannot hit players even if the ball is not there anymore.

The red, we have to know what he said but players get millions, they should act professionally. There’s no point arguing with the ref.

Not going to lie, it’s always nice to see a Madrid meltdown. You don’t get to see it often.

Jude and Vinicius have insulted referees too many times already. I'm glad they were finally punished.

If it stays like that, Barca may go back up top on monday. All three top teams are in quite a rollercoaster of form.

A Barcelona fan saying this. I'm shocked. When your boy Gavi does it or when Suarez did it every game I suppose it was a healthy show of enthusiasm, huh?

What do other players have to do with it? Vini‘s and Bellingham‘s behavior towards the refs (and on the pitch in general) are often embarrassing. No whataboutism needed.

Yeah, Bellingham is an obnoxious brat, about time he got sent off.
Penalty was also a clear penalty, went studs through on his foot without touching the ball. Clear as daylight late tackle, why should that not be a foul? Doesn't matter if he managed to get the shot off first.

Got called for block on Inigo Martinez. Debatable whether he'd have even got across in time to block.
Very questionable decision. Also Cubarsi wrestled Ciss in much the same fashion which caused the pen for Barca earlier.
Real fans will be seething, give me moar
