La Liga 2024/25

The thing is last season was similar (serious injuries to CBs, no striker) and they won a league+CL double so that's the lesson they learned.
It’s true. Although they went into the season with some of those players fully fit, as well as an experienced Nacho. This season they knew Militao and Alana were crocked and they sold Nacho to SA. No replacements seems odd. One was circumstance, the other was wilful planning.

Another choke job in a big game. City is gonna tear us a new one.

It was very good game, quite even, nothing that might end in some trashing against City. Plus it can be another year of real's CL aura.
This last week there has been a lot of controversy because Madrid protested the foul to Mbappe against Espanyol.
It's as if they have no right to complain. Simeone says "they have been doing it for 100 years" (referring to referee aid) and it is taken normally but then Madrid exaggerates by requesting more information from the VAR.
So much money moves in football and then it is not possible to know what is being said among referees, that no one knows.

Madrid do not just protest, Madrid creates campaigns and it's smart, clever and many times works.

Was it an even game though? I did not watch it but the stats seem to suggest the contrary, i.e. 23 shots (9 on target) for the locals, 10 (1 on target) for the visitors.

It was a lot more disputed than the stats might show.

The first half Aleti was more in control, yet blewing great situations that ended in not even a shot on target.

The second half Real went for it and got bad luck in their finishing with some Oblak great saves too. Yet Aleti blew many counters in some silly instance or just feck it up in the last moment, shooting badly, being blocked, bad control at the last minute.
It was a match with great intensity were both never had full control of the scenery. Quite entertaining

Lucas Vazquez injured

He joins Militao, Rudiger, Alaba and Carvajal in the list of injured defenders

This also means Valverde will have to play as RB and therefore we will lose a very solid player in midfield :wenger:

Sorry guys, we won't be able to beat City this time in CL :(

The flipside though is there's no Vasquez for City to target on the right now. One very obvious from your defense is now gone. This is one injury that might actually help you do better.

Pedri is absolutely incredible. Quite easily the best midfielder in the world this year, imo. He's finally managed to stay fit (so far) this season and its paying dividends.

He wouldn't have looked at out of place in some of the best Barca teams. Truly a joy to watch.
Superb finish by Raphina

Bad tackle that look worse every time you look at it.
It actually gets better when you look at it because he kicks the ball away but then catches him with the follow-through. Probably a red given how the game today is but given what Cebbalos got away with last night..

Even a man down, Barca make it 4-1. Pedri with another excellent game, Raphinha with another goal and assist.

There's so much time for the season and next Ballon'Dor - but Raphina should be the closest competition to Mo Salah atm.
