La Liga 2019/20

So I was looking into Getafe's stadium...why is it named after Alfonso who never played for them?

Maybe Getafe owner's played CM 97/98 where he was a total legend and most expensive player

Horrible goal keeping for Real goal. Leno esq. Referee having busy game.

He's a good goalkeeper, nothing more. Clearly you haven't seen a lot of us

I watch most games, this season in particular he’s been insane.

The two goalkeepers have been the difference today. Getafe have actually been the better team otherwise

He hasn't though. Last season he was subpar, this season he's been good. That's about it. Oblak is insane, Ter Stegen is insane

Courtois saves the stuff he's supposed to save, makes few mistakes, and that's about it. Rarely has he been a difference maker for us. So far, he's been worse than Keylor was

I must be watching very different games to you then. He's made great saves at crucial times that have resulted in points gained in literally every single one of your games I've watched this season.

Navas made big mistakes a lot more often although he also managed to make more crucial saves too.

Well, we were bound a game like this tbf

Such as...? Levante?

Truth is when he was making saves we were struggling and he didn't save enough. Last few games we've had the best defence in the league by far(to the point teams barely managed any shots at all) and he had little to do

Now today he's been excellent, for sure. In general he's having a good season all in all, maybe even very good in the league. But hardly a difference maker

Last season he was exactly and distinctly average, on a team that needed a great gk

Last time we had an exceptional goalkeeper was Keylor in 15/16. Now that was a beast

Barcelona looked woeful during parts of the half. Body language terrible at times as well from the players. A shadow of the team from most of the last decade.

Such great individual quality though, they can get back in the game easy or win it.

Can't wait till they refresh the team though because find their football so joyless these days. Main tactics just pass it to Messi and hope it seems.

How many times does Suarez score per season when Barca are losing or drawing away in La Liga? It's ridiculous, it's always the same.

Brilliant assist for the 2-1 too. Great comeback for Barca, Valverde is a moron for not starting Arturo Vidal but at least he fixed it in time.

Sevilla and Atletico only 5 points off the top now, Real Sociedad 6 points off if they win tomorrow. If any of those (especiallly Atletico) actually get their shit together then they can challenge for sure. The title is there for the taking this year.

Valverde should have subbed off Suarez or Messi. De Jong Yellow-Red and both just standing there, doing nothing defensively.

This is the biggest problem in Barca. Messi and Suarez just don't press anymore. This is a huge burden for the defensive unit of the team.

That's Valverde for you, seniority prevails always. From his viewpoint, why would he risk a confrontation with a senior member of the team when he can always find someone else to substitute/bench? His job security obviously doesn't hinge on results, otherwise he'd be long gone already. Once you to an extent ascertain someone's motivations, their decisions seem much more sensible in retrospect...

Real is building a solid young team there. Valderde Militao, Mendy, Vinicious look good for the future. Will the fan base give them time to grow is a different question though

Lobotka completely left out of Celta's squad yesterday as his head wasn't right according to the manager.

Only a matter of time before he signs for Napoli.

why do get Barca and Real more money for playing the super copa than Valencia?

Apparently the distribution is according to a ranking, based on "historical sporting merits in national and continental competitions."
Valencia already complained.

Valencia are right to complain, if Spanish football authorities are going to drag the clubs all that way, the least they could do is pay everyone the same amount. Not sure how this "new" Super Cup will go. Nice stadium and all that, but there's a chance that it will come across as similar to those pre-season tournaments in the US, where lots of tourists turn up and the atmosphere just isn't there. Even if it ends up with a Clasico final, it might not have the proper intensity that these sorts of games should.

Aren't super cups supposed to be played at the beginning of the season, as a curtain raiser?

It is, but some countries have moved them. Italy and Spain has them now during the winter for some reason.
Spain tries to make it bigger by having 4 sides in it, but I doubt most people care about it much anyway.
