Athletic ended with the Bosman law. They survived decades but now there is too much money in football. If they could hold Martínez, Llorente, Herrera and sign the rest of the Basques, like Odriozola things would be very different.
Even for those who remain for loyalty, like Williams and Muniain it must not be very motivating to be tenth each season and fight for the Europa League.
Now there are elections. I have spoken with some fans of Athletic and most of them are fed up with the president Urrutia. Maybe they will improve, but I think they should change the philosophy a bit. That, or assume that some year they will go down to segunda.

Urrutia isn't standing again, so it will be a new president.
 
Poor Bilbao, they don't deserve that. Played very well tonight.

Hardly a disaster. They will progress from their CL group and will most likely be in the league race. So they will have something big to play for come spring, when teams need to be at their best.
 
What a ball by Carvalho, How did Betis get him? Hope Barcelona drop points to make things interesting.

After they mugged Rayo Valecano though, can never count them out in game. Lots on the bench as well.
 
Betis taking the game to them. Joy to watch. Need to be at least 4 goals ahead to be confident of even getting a point though :lol:
 
Ronaldo leaving/ Madrid being poor has just weakened the league..

Barca don't feel like they have to push.. have eased off mentally. 12 games 24 points for Barcelona.. 12 dropped points.. And they are top.. How often does that often?
 
Lo Celso was brilliant pick up by Betis.

Don't understand why Tuchel dosen't think he's good enough for PSG particularly as they lack quality in that area.
 
Atletico-Barca going to be very interesting after the break with the way Barcelona are defending.
 
Feet were planted playing onside. Red card for Rakatich and 4 2 to Betis. This game has everything. Carvalho has been imense.

Still not writing Barcelona off though..5 should do it though.

Barcelona's defense has gone to shit this season, don't even remember the last time they conceded 4 at home in La Liga.
 
Roberto is a car crash at RB, Pique is done as a top-class CB. Busquets and Rakitic look extremely vulnerable when the game gets stretched, their physical attributes are shocking. Actually thought Vidal, even though he is clearly worse than in his prime, showed more than Rakitic have all season. Barca should go after Setien, fits alot more than Valverde.
