La Liga 2018/19

It's a disgrace that he's not starting for the national team.

I agree, Neuer hasn't been at his best since coming back from injury and generally Ter Stegen's form has been better over the last couple of years. Low may still be a bit reluctant to bring him in because his performances for Germany haven't been great, not close to his Barcelona form. Still, Low needs to realize that Ter Stegen is the future and he should have more faith in him even if he makes errors, Barcelona did the same and now they have a world class goalkeeper on their hands.

Neuer v Ter Stegen is similar to Casillas vs De Gea. One on the one hand to have an ailing legend and the other a talented youngster who hasn't quite shown the same level of ability for his national team.

The world before Messi vs Cristiano

Funnily enough that was the last Clasico I watched live on Sky. My dad cancelled it four days later. Baptista scored a great goal but it was a poor game apart from that.

Who's actually at home next week given both played home games this weekend?

Even with Messi resting for 4-5 weeks, Barça should ram Inter down and the current miserable depressed version of Madrid. Only the game vs Betis seems like a challenge.

Maybe this injury will turn out as a blessing in disguise. Barca will now have to find ways to create opportunities without Messi dictating every attack. Even if they struggle and may lose some points along the way, ultimately they could overcome their dependence on him and become much more versatile. And Messi will not only be rested but a team that isn't that reliant on him would allow Valverde to rotate him much more than he used to do last season.

Celta is sounding out the option of Jémez if they sack Antonio Mohamed

A bit worried about the upcoming Barça-Madrid because with Messi gone there will be no "hungry to destroy Madrid" players on the pitch. Xavi was also one of those players: always looking to defeat Madrid by a huge goal margin.

And Madrid always plays at their best when they are cornered/hurt.

I'm not so sure. In Barcelona there are players that have been criticized or have not yet justified their signing.
Suárez has played some good matches and should take more responsibility without Messi, as well as Dembele and Coutinho, who I think, needs a dazzling game.
I think Madrid is going to offer a good version.
As we say in spanish the players have seen the ears of the wolf, and surely they'll wake up.
Apparently the veterans want to play 4-4-2.

Always feels wrong, El Clasico should be under lights. So many dramatic matches I've watched down the years, the ones in the sunlight don't have the same feel.

In any case shouldn't La Liga be setting their kick off times for the American audience.....?;)

Heh, Tebas is trying to appease all the big markets. The american audience will get a lunch time clasico next spring

Bilbao 0-0 Valencia.

Both clubs really struggling this season, Valencia incredibly drawn 8 of their 10 games this season and a couple more in the CL. Is europe affecting them that much? They have a decent enough squad with depth.

Villareal also down there so could see a big club relegated this season.

Think Bilbao have drawn seven. Only lost two, but only won one.

Lack of goals. Feels like a season too far for Aduriz and Inaki Williams has let the hype get to him, Spanish Agbonlahor.

I think you'll be o.k as rest of the side is decent enough, Yuri, Inigo Martinez, Raul Garcia etc.

He didn't start with Muniain or Williams, but brought them on near the end. Yes you could be right about Aduriz unfortunately. He is trying Williams out there. They had chances once him and Muniain came on. They have to take chances when they come their way. They have Espanyol and Atletico next both away.

What's wrong with Valencia? They even strengthened this summer and look well-placed to compete at the top.

This is probably my least anticipated Clasico in a long while. No Ronaldo and Messi...

Red card for vinicius. The club during the whole week trying to revoke one of the yellow cards. They get it and Vini travels to Barcelona, losing the match with Castilla.Lopetegui sends him to the stands.

I'd love to hear the reasoning behind that.

stubbornness, personality, faith in Lucas Vázquez ... I don't know, but that kind of things condemn him. Also, I think his father did an interview with Marca saying that his son has been robbed 50 goals.

Jordi Alba is ridiculous, Neymar leaving Barcelona was the best thing that could have happened to him

Love that Geordie commentator. Giving that chance to Coutinho "is like gifting Dracula the keys to the bloodbank".
