La Liga 2017/18

Look. I have convinced myself a lot of what you're saying but as the time passes, it looks really pointless to play a striker who is so wasteful and does feck all except clearing spaces for Ronaldo to score. Like Madrid is the biggest team currently. They can have a striker who has a nice link-up and score goals, too, right?

It looks pointless to play a striker who misses loads of chances every game just because he accommodate Ronald. It's not like Ronaldo will be terrible without that Benzema tbh.

Madrid deserves far, far better striker than him. They're currently down to only one goal scorer in the team (Ronaldo) and that's the reason of their problems.

I read last year a stat that said since Cristiano started out in Madrid, he scores more often when Benzema isn't on the pitch than when Benzema is on the pitch.

It's true that when Benzema is playing well the entire team goes up a level though.

That depends. How many games he played with Benzema and how many without him ?

I have been expecting it. We have had a poor window and the team is horribly unbalanced. No pace , no width and no striker.
I was actually expecting more from them at home. Big mistake relying on Wayne to replace Lukaku's goals. We better leave it at that or this thread is derailed.

If Messi joins Man City next year, I will need a long break from football. It will be like Trump marrying Jennifer Lawrence after winning the 2020 election with the biggest electoral college victory ever.

Not sure it will happen. I would get rid of Suarez rather than entertain him leaving.

I agree with you and for many years people were highlighting Benzema's link up play to downplay Ronaldo's achievements pointing than any half decent player could score as much as him playing for Real Madrid. It hasn't been the case and there's no much point in playing Benzema if the team isn't scoring or he's wasting plenty of chances. Ronaldo can't come any sooner and I hope both Bale and Benzema get their finishing better as the season goes on. I wouldn't even mind if they bought some striker in winter if this keeps going on by then.

Just read that the last time Real Madrid failed to win their first two home games in the league, asensio wasn't born and zidane played with Bordeaux

Alba playing on fire tonight makes me hurts even more looking the situation of our left back

Semedo has been very impressive as well, not just in this game but since his transfer. They're still in weak in midfield and are fecked if Messi gets injured but it's highly fortunate that it's looking like they've finally replaced Alves.

Semedo was excellent. He and dembele form an understanding on that right hand side and Barcelona look proper scary again.

Former Brazilian prodigy Ganso in good form for Sevilla, just scored again in easy victory over Eibar. Hope he continues to do well, Sevilla's my favorite club in Spain.

Yeah he was excellent tonight, play like a monster and very good passing as well, looks like you really dodge a bullet by not signing bellerin

So Barca are the club under crisis but Madrid are already 4 points behind them. People thought that the Ronaldo ban and them selling Morata and James wouldn't matter. But it has already cost them this early in the season.

Suarez seems to have lost that burst of pace and lightness of feet that he used to have. He's much more Costa than Aguero now whereas I'd say he was somewhere down t middle earlier, albiet in poor form when it comes to his all round game.

Dembele starts with an assist which isn't a surprise. Really creative player. If he plays on the right I'm curious to see how Barcelona make that work. Am I mistaken or was Suarez playing a bit leftish with only Alba down that wing? Bit of a strange system. Messi right and Dembele left makes much more sense in theory.

Been saying this for a year now but Suarez's technique has become unbelievably bad. He can't make simple passes or control the ball. He's still good in the box though.

How opinions in football change every day amazes me.

Four weeks ago, Madrid was the best team in the world and could walk the La Liga and CL while Barcelona was a team in free fall, hit by decline which was evident in the departure of Neymar and the purchase of a player from the Chinese league.

Now, the opinion is Madrid is unbalanced and in trouble while Barcelona is suddenly looking scary again.

It's like the way United were title favourites two weeks ago and then suddenly became one of the also rans after Stoke held them to a draw at home.

At least one of the goals was offside. I hate this time to watch football.
Deportivo has a problem with goalkeepers ; in the bench the last signing,Pantilimon, the tallest GK in Primera.Schär has been a great signing
Januzaj showing his technique.
Great goal of Adrián.Let's see "O Neno" (Lucas Pérez) in the second half.

Didn't some european top clubs want Schar some years ago?

Perez should have scored the 3-4 here. 2-4 FT for Real Sociedad. Top of the league along with Barca and best attack in the league, with 10 goals scored.

Suarez's overall play with the ball has usually been inconsistent, but he's great at creating space for others. That and scoring are generally the two most important jobs for a Barca striker and most big clubs.

Any underrated players in La Liga that deserve more praise or are ready for a top transfer?

Funny isn't it.

Barca still has huge problems. Far too Messi dependant, some players just lack quality, no depth, aging core players. Wait until the Juventus game, the tide might turn again.

Real are just fecked by suspensions and injuries right now. Results so far were quite unfortunate, should have easily won the game against Levante. Had tons of close situations last year, just pulled through in the final moment.

Valencia is a tough team to play and no free points - last 4 league games were 2 W 1 D 1 L.

They were kind of slow starters the previous two season IIRC and really got their shit together from March onwards.

Is it just me, or has Carvajal been at fault for almost all goals Real have conceded since the start of the season?
