La Liga 2017/18

Also, damn, i'd forgotten how good a fully fit Bale firing on all cylinders can be

Fecking injuries :(

Great goal. Bale has been regaining his old form.

Marcelo is having a good game today.

You jinxed it for yourself.

I don't think it's really a "jinx" if I actually believe it (not the BdO thing, but that he constantly improves).

He's the kind of player I love to have in my team, and he looks like a Real Madrid kind of player, at least the Real I knew from years ago, before the galactico era.

Said this many times, as a RB he's one of the best in the world, as a LB he's decent, as a CB he's not good enough to be 3rd choice for us

Definitely a player we should keep, but not in his current role

Unless we hire a tactical madman like Sarri who might sort out his deficiencies at CB

I can't think of any other player who's proved pseudo-intellectual football nerds on the internet more than Bale in the last few years.

Well, I''ve also said a lot of times a 5-3-2 would be the way to go for Real

Ramos, Varane and Nacho could be the best defense in the world
Carva and Marcelo could shine even more as fullbacks with 3 CB's + Casemiro covering their back
The midfield remains unchanged
Benzema brings 0 to the team a lot of the time, Ronaldo + Bale/Benzema with the injury situation could be more than enough

Set pieces would be something to fear with their aerial prowess too, I get that they'd be slanted as a shameful team if they played like that but honestly, is not like they get much from a 9 without aerial game like Benzema when they basically play to exploit the wings, the games could look almost the same.

Even with a 4-1 against possibly the worst team in the league Real Madrid defense looks awful

There's only so many chances a top level scorer can miss until he scores again.

Also, as I said in his thread, both goals come from him attacking where Benzema was/created space at, this is why Karim still plays for Real despite having awful scoring numbers.

Deportivo, with the worst goalkeepers in La Liga, and playing Aldo One (youth prospect with games in the 3rd division and only 90 minutes of experience for the first team) seem like the best sacrifice Real Madrid could ask to reignite their squad this month until the game vs PSG.

I can easily see Real scoring 8 today with Ronaldo getting "back on form" with a poker, Las Palmas might be the worst defensive team stat-wise due to their disconnection in blowouts, but Deportivo defense are worse on a consistent basis, and this could be a massacre without Sidnei, their best defender by far.

If Real fail to get an easy win today I'd totally write them off for the UCL tie.

We're on 7, Ronaldo has 2 but missed a couple of clear cut chances, I feel more than vindicated .

But I guess this also means they're going to be competitive vs PSG, damn.

I don’t think a match against one of the worst teams in La Liga means they will be ready for PSG. Real looked pretty bad in that first half, PSG should run riot against that Madrid defense.

Well this is Real Madrid with an elite squad, is more about what they believe themselves than the actual level of the game they display on the pitch.

There's 4 games until the PSG leg, vs Leganes (doesn't really matter) and Valencia, Levante and Real Sociedad. They'll beat Leganes and spank Levante, if they manage to win against Real Sociedad (really plausible, they're not too hot) and win or even draw vs Valencia in a intense game, they're set to give PSG a run for their money

When I constantly say in here that we should punish teams more when they are done I get ridiculed. "Why waste energy" is what i always hear back.

These are the games/scores that buy fear and respect from opponents.

We really didn't, and this has been a pretty standard performance for us at home this season. The only difference between today, Villarreal, Valencia, Betis, Tottenham, has been our finishing

If we start finishing at a normal rate, we're still very much one of the 5-6 best teams in the world, and we'd absolutely have a chance against PSG

It's probably hard to punish a team like this in the EPL, Deportivo are not only bad, they're chewing through their 3rd coach in barely a year, their "Football director" just got sacked, a bad squad defensive-wise, fielded a 24 y/o defender that plays in the third division today in the Bernabeu and are again on a negative spiral after their new coach (without top level experience) effect lasted just a couple games.

United could put 7 on Deportivo without actually even trying.

A chance for sure but PSG’s attack would have a field day. Bale in form really helps but PSG’s
Speed is going to cause a lot of issues. Really looking forward to the tie, should be a fun one

Yeah, PSG are better than us and they also are a bad matchup for us, but we're not a shite team, we haven't been shite all season at all, our problem has been finishing, simple as that

Poor Depor. My friends expected a tough result,Depor paying the consecuences of Madrid crisis, but 7 are too much.
Terrible performance,as usual.I think that they have enough squad to stay in Primera although nothing is working.
They bought a GK,Koval and a right back from Athletic.

Don’t think you guys are shite at all, still think you have a high ceiling and Bale in form makes a huge difference.

I am not sure if it was sarcasm but others were saying Real is back but I don’t think a match against one of the worst teams in La Liga makes that true. However like you said, if the finishing picks up even a little bit it’ll make a huge difference.

Koval is a 1.8M loan fee for 6 months, on a player that lost his spot in Kiev... I think that's an awful move for them. Boveda looked "ok" for Eibar because that was a hard working and well polished team, I doubt he's going to be good for Deportivo at their current state.

If something is going to save them is the front 3 + Çolak hitting good form for some games, beyond that everyone is hopeless except Sidney, the only defensive player salvageable

Depor is one of those teams who've managed to stay up because there were 3 teams even worse than them for the past 2-3 years honestly

Spain's version of Hamburg or Genoa or Swansea

Expensive goalkeeper, although It was a must to bring someone.
The "expert" in COPE,not Maldini, the other one said that he was a good promise some years ago.
I agree with Colak.Mosquera doesn't look like the player of 2 years ago and I expected more from Valverde. It seems that he didn't find his place.
About the attack Lucas has been quite disappointing, maybe the system doesn't suit him like before.
Adrián has quality but doesn't have any blood in the veins, all his career has been the same.
Schär looked good in the beginning of the season. I miss someone like Mendilibar at Eibar,as you said a polished and well worked team.

Real-Celta is mental

Neither team even a little bit interested in defending or controlling the game

Yeah right... The same Utd full of greedy players ? Or the Utd that miss many chances per game ? Our players aren't clinical enough for a display.
You can see the intensity dropping after 1 goal
