It's a clear penalty, a penalty for stupidity. If Rico let him get passed him there was not much Carvajal could do with that ball. There was no one in the middle.

I thought the same about Rico making a bad decision going for that ball, he could have just let it go or feint attempting trying to catch that and avoid that risk.

Escudero passes it too short and too weak, Carvajal took advantage of it, went easily passed one defender and then Rico went completely wrong in that challange. Yeah, Bale has to play and with this formation you'd have to sit either Marcelo or Benzema, not happening,
I've seen just the last minutes but I'm liking this Madrid side, the 3 CB defense is somethin I'd love to see more and Carvajal/Marcelo are the best fullbacks in the world to play this way
