Kroos decisive today!

Sprints back to intercept Diop's pass on that counter and scores a stunner a couple of minutes later.

Ray Hudson commentary

Ahahaha! I had to rewind because I put it on mute listening to Jose's post-match interview with BT Sport.

"It's an absolute sizzler, sent with love from Germany to the back of the net. He arrives by stealth in his Hush Puppies and it's a magisteriaaaaal strike from Toni the Tiger!"

Magisterial. :lol::lol::lol:

"As usual, show him (Kroos) this much space is like showing your neck to Dracula!"

"And strokes it home smoother than a trombone slide!"

"Anybody can run. It takes a footballer to strike with that deadly accuracy. Like a dart...like a knife thrower at the circus in the old days."

"It's a wonderful, like I said, caress home smoother than an Olympic swimmer's stroke."

Toni:( His shooting technique is just outstanding.

Madrid spoilt my night. Would have loved a nice early points advantage for Barca.

Half an hour in and it's still Leganes 0-0 Atletico. Atletico are doing most of the attacking, but it's not actually converting into many chances.

Leganes first ever La Liga game and it's a Madrid derby. Big night for them.

Assume you mean home game, had a fantastic away win at Celta last weekend. Great save there, fantastic effort from AG.

HT 0-0
All the attacks are from Atletico, but not many shots on target. Leganes are holding out by sheer determination, they've got a tough second half coming.

Ffs Atletico are you going to drop consecutive points against two promoted sides?

Valencia to finish bottom half again. They were poor last season, Ayesteran is better than Gary but it's still questionable whether he's good enough. Meanwhile, Mustafi was their only reliable defender last season and he's gone, while Gomes and their captain Alcacer will likely follow suit.

I've just seen their transfer record on Wikipedia and it looks shocking. 30m for Rodrigo, 28m for Negredo, 25m for Enzo Perez and Abdennour in the past two years. That's almost 110m down the drain, which is nothing short of a disaster for a club like Valencia.

Carrasco not having a good game today. That fullback has his number.

Torres just had a chance to win it in injury time. Two minutes more to play.

0-0 - great start to the season for Leganes. Disappointing start for Atletico.

Flop would be too strong of a word. Considering his play time his goal+assist tally is quite good. Despite the lack of competition, he struggled to nail down the starting spot last season. In the end Emery often used players who are willing to do work for the team. He was too individualistic and lacked the necessary work-rate/discipline to really justify his inclusion; a lack of talent is not the problem. He is a great impact sub, but he won´t be happy with that role. It is just a rumor that he leaves, so he might stay; still in my opinion, Sevilla should sell him if they get a good offer.

That is just my opinion and other people might have a different one.

I don't think he's anywhere near a flop, just struggling to adapt to Sampaoli's approach - he was perfect under Emery

Sad to see what Lim has done to Valencia.

Felt they hired the wrong guy. Should have gone for Pellegrinni.

Not so sure he's the cause, don't forget Mendes had a big role in this and their current predicament with the FFP

Really poor start to the season for Atletico, looking like a two horse race this season.

I thought they had solved their offensive issues with signing Gameiro and Gaitan..

The system is the problem, not the players. Simeone kept juggling players since Costa's departure. Mandzukic didn't work, neither did Jackson, if a proven La Liga player like Gameiro doesn't work either, then we should pinpoint part of the blame to Cholo.

Personally I think that rivals are wising up to their system, ironically the way to stop them is bus parking, they can't create a lick when cholo field a defensive 4-4-2 (specially with 4 CMs like yesterday). I know that the 4-3-3 didn't work as he expected last season, and was used only as a countermeasure when 4-4-2 didn't work against the bigger sides, but they really need to adapt to a more attacking system if they want to stay in contention for the league. 4-4-2 should be only used when they play as underdogs or against suicidal attacking teams like Jemez's teams.

Well said. If we look at the game yesterday Atletico were playing a promoted team. Yet they had 2 defensive midfielders in the middle, actually 3 overall because let's not forget that Saul is also really a defensive midfielder who only plays other positions because he just happens to be versatile. The other mid was Koke who is also very strong defensively and does a lot of defensive work. Why such a defensive setup against a minnow? Meanwhile you have the likes of Carrasco, Gaitan and Correa on the bench. Simeone's strength is also his weakness.
