If I have Messi, Suarez and Neymar upfront, I'll give them zero defensive roles, so they supposed to have a defense, midfield and full backs that can cover this.
Most teams defend with 9-10 players. Barcelona defend with 7 at most. That's a massive difference and a sacrifice they make. Also doesn't help when the full back is at the other end of the pitch. They're frankly very vulnerable to counter-attacks and it's a tactical problem, not a player problem.

That's the cost of having 3 players like these upfront. No manager can give them any defensive roles let's be honest.

The full backs problem can be solved, though.

They still were one point away from winning the double again, looked comfortably better than RM over the two legs. They were terrible in those two away CL fixtures, where frankly everything went wrong (opponents concreted all chances, Barça missed sitters, unlucky deflections etc).

If they get a great midfielder like Verratti and a real RB, they can win a shitload of titles.

Absolutely and it's a fine trade-off but I don't think the blame should therefor be put on the CBs.

Neymar actually does a lot of defending. Check his distance covered and interception stats.

Anyone else watching Girona game? Blatantly fixed for a 0-0 draw. Zero corners, Zero shots at HT, with the ball being passed around all game.

Odds were 1/4 for a draw at kick off.

My biggest bet of the season is a draw in this game. I got 1.50 some days ago.

Was it well known within Spain? If this happened in England or Scotland there would be uproar. I heard rumours a few days back but didn't expect it to be as blatant.

I read it from a quite popular tipster in twitter. Both need a point. Perhaps there will be something similar the next weekend with some team fighting for relegation/promotion

Will be hoping Girona and Zaragoza are both relegated from their respective leagues next season. Truly one of the most disgraceful performances I've ever seen. Match fixing in football officially at ludicrous levels now.

Sandro (the Barca/Malaga player) will most probably be in Atletico. Vitolo inofficially done deal to Atletico as well. What a slap in the face that is...

Ok, i got it. They can buy him from january.

Exactly as @DomesticTadpole says; they are allowed to register new signings in January. They can buy Sandro, Vitolo, and others now; they have to just wait to be registered until January (as was the case with Aleix Vidal to Barca). Basically, there are loop holes and Atletico are using them.

But in Vitolo's case; there are talks of him being bought by Atletico now, and then being loaned to Las Palmas during autumn, before being back from loan and joining Atletico in January.

Weren't Las Palmas his previous club?

And what about Berizzo? Any news about your new coach?

He is not our new coach yet... Sevilla have offered him less money than what Celta Vigo use to, so Berizzo and his agent are quite irritated over it. So they have delibaretly involved Porto, just to put some pressure on Sevilla. But it is expected that he will still become official as Sevilla manager within these two weeks, and I think Sevilla have to compromise and give him what he wants, because it is getting too late to start look for new managers.

Edit: Nolito in Sevilla today. He should be official (probably as a loan) any day. Probably replacing Vitolo.

Penny-pincher like Arsenal! I thought Seville would be a better money option for him compared with Celta. And what about players coming in&out?

To be honest, I think Sevilla are the ones being greedy in this case. :wenger::( Vitolo most probably out (Atletico), and Nolito in. But I have no idea other than that, this will be a long silly season.

Nolito would fit you well. He is also from Andalucia :D

@Santi_Mesut_Alexis_87 Haha, he could be from planet Mars all I care, as long as he does well. I also believe he will fit us really well:) Think it is a good move for him because he is not good enough for City, but still a player that could be great in a Club like Sevilla.

Berizzo official. Signed 2 year contract. Wonderful, now we can start signing players.

I think Krohn Dehli has done ok. And it was heartwarming to see him coming back from what suppose to be a career ending injury. Aspas never found himself comfortable in Sevilla, and he actually had some disagreement with Emery and they never got along. They even fought in the middle of a game at one point. But back then, Sevilla had much better squad, and Aspas was too weak to make it to the first eleven, he barely made it as substitute. But nowdays, considering how weak our striker positions are...
But no, I don't want to see Aspas in Sevilla..again.

Else, we could be seeing 1 or 2 Celta players joining Berizzo. At least the former Celta star Nolito will join, it is matter of days before he is official (I think).

Next season will be very difficult. Hopefully the club manage to transition. It almost feels like starting from scratch again.

We might end up loosing half of the squad (well; at least half of the starters). Jovetic (too expensive for his performance), Vietto, Vitolo, Nasri, Kranevitter, Tremoulinas (was injured, but still), a CB (hopefully Carrico/Pareja). Overall there are only few players left that the club should really try to keep. N'Zonzi (he simply can't leave), Mariano, Escudero, Sarabia, Mercado.
The likes of Ben Yedder, Correa, Vazquez, Montoya, Iborra, Lenglet, Rami, Pareja, Carrico are all useful, but I wouldn't mind selling them if we get a good offer.

Some promising developments as well so I am fairly optimistic, while having rather low expectations. Krohn-Dehli coming back could be a nice option for the next season. Getting Berizzo is great. Sadly Diego Martínez is probably going to join Osasuna. I liked him as potential man for the future, but that is our smallest problem at the moment.

Vitolo leaving might look like a big blow, but I don't mind it at all, if we get 40m and have Nolito as replacement. Paying €40m for Vitolo – all quality aside – is way over the odds. 40M would give Arias/ Berizzo enough financial room to get their players.

Vitolo is quite inconsistent going forward, but I guess his never-die attitude would suit Atletico. Nolito doesn't have the same work-rate/character/versatility, but more quality as creative attacker. He is capable of organizing the attack almost by himself for a club like us. Combined with guys like Ben Yedder, Vazquez and Sarabia, who have all good movement off the ball, he'll be lethal. Hopefully we get another quality option up front and I wouldn't be concerned, that we'll struggle to score goals. Jesus Navas for free would be also good business.
Despite Monchi, Sampaoli and various top players leaving, the future doesn't look all bad.

Sevilla will negotiate about N'Zonzi with Juventus this week. I believe the price will be around his clause (30-40 million euros), which in both this case and Vitolo's is good money for us to re-invest. Arias will meet Berizzo and they'll start plan silly season, and the pre-season, starting today. I think (or hope) that we'll go through a haul, as we did in the summer of 2013, when we bought nearly 15 new players (Bacca, Gameiro, Iborra, Pareja, Vitolo, etc.) solely on the money we gained from Negredo and Navas. This summer could become similar if we manage to sell Vitolo and/or N'Zonzi for the prices that are rumoured. I hope we get Roque Mesa. Last summer we were close, but for some odd reasons the deal got ruined and we ended up with loaning Kranekvitter.

Rami on his way out as well; any type of price for him is good business. Rumours that Casillas has offered himself to Sevilla, I truly hope that it is not true. The keeper position is the only position that we don't have to invest on.

Casillas :wenger: Hopefully he stays far away from the club. Rico is way better.
N'Zonzi leaving would be bad, but oh well; hopefully we get a decent fee. A couple of weeks ago, there was a rumour about Wallace from Hamburg (DM). He'd be a great signing even if N'Zonzi would stay; with additional funds, this transfer might be possible. Roque Mesa would be obviously very sensible as well and we were already after him last year. Hopefully Arias/Berizzo can unearth some gems and overhaul the squad. Currently it is distinctly average, so things can only get better. I hope we don't do too many loans without option to buy players. It make sense for quality players (relatively speaking) like Nolito, Jovetic or Nasri. Loaning talents like Vietto or Kranevitter makes no sense at all.

There was a legends game being played on Saturday at both Bernabeu (Corazon classic) and Camp nou (homage to 1992 CL winning team).

Talk about Madrid fans not respecting their legends and mes que un club faithful..

Definetly; last thing we need is similar loan-deals as Vietto or Kranevitter. Or the likes of Vietto or Kranevitter. Sevilla have until thursday to decide wether to activate Jovetic's clause or not. The clause is at 13 million Euros I think. It looks like we will be losing Jovetic.

I am quite happy that we won't attempt to get Nasri. He was surprisingly great in Autumn, but came off as completely disinterested in Spring, and his actions in the second leg vs Leicester is still unforgivable. He'll never mature, might as well stay at City with his big salary. But I hope we have the funds to keep Jovetic, despite him being injury prone. He was one of the few positive aspects in a dissappointing spring.

We are about to get Teodorczyk from Anderlecht. I have never seen him play, but surely this 26 year old can't be worse than the current strikers in the squad. As you say, our squad is very average, so almost any type of signing is welcome at this point (except for Vietto, Kranevitter, Casillas-esque type of loans/signings).
