La Liga - 2014/15

By the way from what I've been reading plenty of Barca fans still can't take to Enrique. Keep reading people claim it's all about the front 3, the midfield isn't nearly involved enough and the side could still have much better balance. Take from that what you will.

I thought he played for Madrid too?

I read that there will be elections and if the other chap wins he'll remove Enrique?

He never enjoyed his time there and believed their fans never appreciated him. His transfer was also from Real to Barca, so no way will they accept him. Elections in July, and if the team wins the treble, or even as things stand, it will be madness to replace him. Besides, there are no other options out there and we suffered post-Pep with managers. We need some stability.

To be fair, Iniesta tried his bit in bring more defensive solidity to the team. He plays a lot deeper role now. The main issue has been the form of Busquets. He is getting overrun easily at times. Rakitic has been doing an amazing work, much better than Cesc or Thiago in this regard.

How does it work exactly? Presidents must also be elected based on performance right? So wouldn't the current president be re-elected because of this season's success?

The current board are so bad, it will be disastrous if they stay. The whole Neymar debacle, transfer ban, Qatar sponsorship, etc. are just a few examples of what they have brought to the club. The team's success has little to do with them and I suspect most club members who will vote would rather have a president who may not be jailed. If Laporta runs, he wins.

There's been a lot of off the pitch scandals though, it's not just about trophies.

Ah yes I completely forgot about the off the field issues. It would nuts if they replace Enrique though.

Can someone give me the table of top 5 teams in the league this season?

Cup winning goal.

Cristiano Ronaldo: 6 years, 1 La Liga

Vermaelen: 0 games, 1 La Liga.

Congratulations to culés here, well deserved liga. I must admit that in December/January I didn´t give them a chance, to the squad and especially Luis Enrique.
That's a surprise. Out of curiosity, why Cristiano?
For different reasons, first because it is clear that the model of giving absolute prominence and base the game in attending one player is not working. A great individual statistics but not accompanied by collective successes. It also rely on newspaper articles I read and I trust. Florentino has to blame someone and if the offer was good enough he might think about a sale. These same articles talk about the interest of Jorge Mendes to seek a last major contract abroad. When things are not working to sell the banner player can be a symbol to restart the project from zero, without memories. Besides he is 30, and a very competitive player to accept a secondary role or bench during next years. Bernabeu socios are usually very critical with players who want to extend to much their protagonism, as is happening now to Casillas or happened the last years of Raúl. In any case I think I will be wrong in my predictions, since the fans are still with him and he can beat the top scorer record next year

Just read that no Barcelona player or manager has won a player/manager of the month award in Spain in the last 2 seasons...what the hell? :wenger:

Probably how Mourinho feels I guess- success somewhat taken for granted.

Barca's midfield has not impressed me this season. They've been functional but the whole onus to create and score has been on the front three and heavily on Messi. For me the back 4 and the front three are the biggest reasons for their league win. I preferred Madrid's fluidity in midfield all season. Their midfield moves the ball with a real verve and threat, whereas for Barca it's all about the front three going forwards. Very top heavy for me. That's why they struggled paticularly in the first half of the season against packed defenses. But I guess you can afford to be that top heavy when you have Messi in this form supported by Suarez and Neymar.

ِAgree + Bravo.

This is why Barcelona is looking to buy a Pogba, Reus or Gundogan.

Iniesta and Busquets are just not in good form, for quite some time. Luckily for Barcelona Pique decided to stop being shit and Neymar, Messi and Suarez became gods again. Both of their keepers have also shown to be amazing.

Iniesta looks like playing better in CL. His role has changed now, playing deeper this season. But he's not same like 2/3 years back. Busquets has been dissapointing overall. Few good games, mixed with many average games.

Yeah it's been clear as day that iniesta has been a different player altogether in the champions league this season. Been great in most of the knockout games.

Maybe pro-Mourinho post but he's right. All that posturing and money spent by Madrid and still only one league title in 7 years - not good at all when you think about it.

I don't think any team in the world would've done better competing with the past years Barças..

Glad the board stick with Luis Enrique when it seemed like he was set for the sack.
