La Liga - 2014/15

Good question... I'd probably go for something like this,

(4-3-3)

GK-Moyá
DF-Mallo
DF-Otamendi
DF-Godín
DF-Gayà
MF-Tiago
MF-Krychowiak
MF-Bruno
FW-Vietto
FW-Jonathas
FW-Griezmann

Subs: Asenjo; Velázquez, Mustafi; Parejo, Arda, Cheryshev; Bueno

Nice team. I admit I'd probably have played Asenjo. A bit surprised by the omission of Koke. Interested in seeing Krychowiak there, I haven't watched enough of Sevilla to make that judgment, it makes sense though, given how well they are doing.

Diego Alves
Gaspar - Otamendi - Godin - Gaya
Koke - Krychowiak - Gomes
Vietto - Bacca - Griezmann

It's extremely close between Moyá and Asenjo (behind Claudio Bravo as overall best GK, in my opinion). Sergio Álvarez of Celta and Diego Alves of Valencia have done very well too. Maybe I'm being a bit harsh on Koke by judging him on the high standard of performance he consistently produced last season, but I don't feel he's stood out that much at any rate anyway. As @prarek and @DesiBD 's selections bear out there have been quite a few excellent MFs, making it hard to chose between them (the likes of Parejo, André Gomes, Iborra, Camacho are indeed worth mentioning).

Somehow I'd forgotten all about Juanfran, who has undoubtedly been the best performing RB in La Liga for the past two seasons in my mind (even though Carvajal, Mario and Hugo Mallo have all been outstanding too).

So my team incl. Barça and RM would be,

GK-Bravo
DF-Juanfran
DF-Otamendi
DF-Piqué
DF-Gayà
MF-Tiago
MF-Krychowiak
MF-Modric
FW-Messi
FW-Griezmann
FW-Cristiano

Subs: Moyá; Godín, Marcelo; Busquets, Isco; Benzema, Vietto

I'd agree actually. I keep reading how keen people are on him as a potential transfer target, but he hasn't quite taken that next step up yet. Of course, Atletico as a team are not quite as sharp as last year.

Anyway for the windowshoppers and Liga watchers, the first of the midweek schedule kicks off in 15 minutes.
Oblak, Gámez, Miranda, Giménez, Siqueira, Tiago, Mario, Koke, Arda, Griezmann y Torres,
Vs
Rulli; Zaldua, Mikel, Elustondo, Yuri; Bergara, Pardo, Prieto; Zurutuza, Canales y Chory Castro

Moyes' misery against the top 4 teams away from home continues. Obviously Atletico are strong at the Calderon (albeit not as strong as last season).

Not just that, La Real have only 1 win in 14 away games this season... this isn't looking like it's gonna be number two. Of course not all of that is on Moyes, and the one win (over Getafe) happened under him, but it's still a terrible record.

Oops, didn't know their away record in general has been that bad!

Oh and as nothing is happening on the pitch the Atleti fans have decided to sing every player's name!!

Opposite to when he was with us then :p

Real season is already resolved and since they won´t be able to reach Europa League positions Moyes has the opportunity to try new people. According to Real´s president this season was basically to settle and see what He needed. I'm curious to see what He does in the transfer market. It would be interesting to see some British players

Sevilla beat Levante 2-1, keeping the pressure on Valencia. They're level on points, at least until Thursday when Valencia are away to Athletic.

Eibar finally break their horrible run of form and beat Malaga 1-0. They also had a goal wrongly disallowed in the first half.

Oblak is on a roll 4 matches / 4 clean sheets
If he continues this form just a matter of time till he replaces Handa in the NT

Maybe he'll try to sign Fellaini.

FC Barcelona: Bravo; Alves, Bartra, Mascherano, Adriano; Sergi Roberto, Xavi, Rakitic; Pedro, Suárez y Messi
Almería: Julián; Casado, Trujillo, Ximo, Marín; Corona, Thomas, Wellington Silva, Édgar, Espinosa y Thievy

Suárez and Mascherano(?) on a yellow from suspension, and their next game is away to Sevilla. Almería under new manager, former Barça LB Sergi... could be interesting.

Some odd choices from Lucho, for me...Especially not starting Montoya, can't inspire much confidence in the player either

I don't think Mascherano is one yellow away, he's just back from a ban...

Yeah you're right, I wasn't sure to begin with. It's Mathieu who's on 4 yellows (hence why he isn't in the lineup presumably). Busquets picked up his 5th at Balaídos so is suspended for this one.

I got a 10 euro ticket to see Deportivo in Riazor, already in the Stadium. They have to beat Cordoba,if not probably Victor Fernandez will be sacked.Almeria lost 3 points for a FIFA sanction.Do you know if those kind of sanctions are firm or can be erased some how at the end of the season?

First foul of the game at the 21 min...for Barcelona :smirk:

Nice by Suárez, cross maybe could have been better but he didn't have many options either.

Clearly Messi still struggling with that foot injury, he's losing the ball almost every time and his speed of execution is always a step or two short.

They can't really afford to rest him either.
