La Liga - 2014/15

It's must be nightmare for any team to play against Messi when Barca is playing on counter.

It's looking like the Barça-Villarreal games of old... Pellegrini-Rijkaard era

Villareal will surely get hit on the break. Far too much space for Messi at the moment.

Another excellent recovery from Rafinha. He's playing very well.

Very poor cross from Messi there after a great Iniesta ball played him in.

i dont understand why he hasnt play for us yet

we better do it soon, before he goes to play for another country

It's only his first season in Europe and only his 3rd full season in senior top-flight football anyway. With the guys you have up front it's not much wonder... more up and comers, Icardi, Dybala...

Suarez will get there, hopefully. Wastes several chances yet assists two goals !! he's now got 12 assists for Barcelona !! He just isn't used to the Barca system yet.

Rafinha MOTM for me, followed by Messi.

That ball from Messi to Neymar in that penalty claim incident was out of this world, outside of the boot perfectly through two Villarreal defenders  too bad Neymar couldn't just finish it first time instead of trying to do whatever the hell he was trying to do there..

Not so easy to trash Barca
I suppose but I'd back City regardless.
I doubt City is any tougher than Atletico.
I don't. Superior up front with Aguero/Dzeko/Jovetic instead of Mandzukic/Torres. Midfield is a push but I think Silva/Nasri/Toure has more potential to hurt Barca than Koke/Griezman/Turan. Hart is better than Moya but I think defensively Atletico are marginally better based on their style of play.
Doubt it. Last year city was similarly talked up and then got spanked.
City were the better side until the sending off. And even then, Barca needed a penalty to actually score and were STILL threatened by 10-man City.

Ohh, you play Aguero/Dzeko/Jovetic/Silva/Nasri/Toure at the same time against Barca, you won't find me complaining. For all the hype City has, they conceded 23 goals, double of what Barca conceded. They scored 11 less goals playing 2 more matches. Barely made out of CL group, out of FA cup against Middlesbrough. The only big result they got was their win against Bayern playing against 10 men at home, not to forget Bayern were already through at that stage.
And you doubting Atletico's credentials? Just ask Real Madrid. Check the matches Real played against Atletico this season and the results. They are La Liga winners, not some relegation candidate.

City aren't as strong as they were last season, couldn't beat chelsea despite dominating, only managed to beat United (1-0) who were down to 10 men and plagued with injuries, lost to Arsenal - i reckon they might hold barca to a draw at the Etihad but they don't stand a chance at the Camp Nou.

Obviously City won't play them all. They'll likely play Toure off Aguero with 2 in midfield. I'm not worried about Atletico because this doesn't concern them. I never spoke ill of Atleti's achievements. But you cannot deny that City have superior attacking options. That's all I said. You can compare stats all you want; all that will do is drum up the ol' La Liga v Premier League debate again which I'm not getting in to. I just expect City to progress because of what I've seen. Barca were all over the place defensively tonight, against Real and against PSG. Add to that Barca's terrible record in England and you have my prediction.

I don't think it's the fact that City are worse; I think the league is better. Chelsea, United, Spurs and Saints have all improved compared to last year. Only Everton have really fallen off as Liverpool are starting to find some form.

Really impressed with Villarreal tonight, excellent movement and passing. Glad Liverpool didn't sign Vietto in the summer like was rumored, he looks a gem.

Villarreal are really an exciting team. I hope they finish in top 4.

Barcelona on the other hand are better than they were last season, Signing Suarez was the icing on the cake

Villarreal were unbeaten for 18 games and have scored at least 1 goal in each of their last 25. They won 7 of their last 10 games in La Liga before this game. I knew Barca would struggle. 2 more games between the two teams in the Copa soon.

You lose against a B division team, and you talk about Barca's defensive frailty! You won just 2 games in CL league - you lost against CSKA, Bayern, draw against Roma/CSKA. But you think somehow City is more defensively better than Barca. That's some great logic out there. City is yet to win a CL final in Spain, Barca did in England though.

First off, not a City fan like you are implying. Second, I never said City were better defensively than Barca. You're projecting and offended for no reason other than something you've made up. So Barca's record in England is, what, won 2, drawn a bunch, lost a bunch? Hardly impressive.
