La Liga - 2014/15

4-1 Madrid FT. Deserved win could have been bigger since they missed so many chances. Disappointed with Sociedad. Expected a better match from them. Guess it was the revenge for the Anoeta game.

Atletico start with:
Moya, Gámez, Godín, Giménez, Siqueira, Tiago, Raúl García, Koke, Saúl, Griezmann y Mandzukic.
Gabi's suspended (5 yellow cards)

I must admit I don't remember seeing Gamez play for Atletico before (he's ex-Malaga), but apparently he has!

Horrible pitch. Don't know how the ref allows it

Atrocious conditions - & were only 2 mins in. Not sure games like these - when mud & rain drastically influences the movement of the ball should be allowed to go on

Set pieces will be vital in this game. Difficult to play football

In the Copa vs Real Madrid.

Watching the match with the Benny Hill theme song on

Goal Atlético, Griezman. It's 11 goals for him already.

2-0 Atlético Manduzkic. I think it's settled.

Did Moyes at least make it hard for Real Madrid?

Not really mate. They started well with a goal in the first minute but then Madrid took over and could have won by 6 or 7 if Bale didn't miss 2 or 3 clear chances

Excellent, if somewhat profligate game from RM. The interplay was brilliant... Isco and Benzema especially impressive, but even Bale looked more at ease in his passing and combinations. Their best game since the winter break without a doubt. Looked a lot more fluid and creative without Cristiano in the side. What do the Real fans reckon? @Raul Madrid @Vato

I agree with everything you said except the Bale part. He wanted to force things to much and bar his assist, I thought he was horrendous.

Yeah, he was still poor, but I thought he looked more consistent than in previous games in terms of the technical (passing, touch, control, etc.), ie. "more at ease". Probably because he was a lot more involved. His decision-making still needs a lot of work and he seems to have developped some sort of mental block when it comes to finishing -- strangely.

I don't think it's a Ronaldo thing as much as a balance issue. The 433 places a lot of pressure on the midfield and with Isco/James and no Modric it puts a lot of demands on Kroos. Not surprisingly, Kroos is showing the strain and both James and Isco have been finding it heavy going against good teams. Going to something that was more of a 442 helped.

The interesting thing will be what happens when Ronaldo returns. Personally I'd keep the 4 man midfield with James and Isco and drop Bale who still looks 1/2 a step behind the rest of the team in open play to me. But Bale has this habit of scoring at the right time, so he's not that easy to bench. Interesting to see if Ancelotti can juggle it all back together for the business end of the season.

Anyone see that goal?

Yeah i saw it. It's the second great goal Diogo Figueiras scores this week. He also scored a beauty in the Copa del Rey during the week also against Espanyol. He's a decent player Figueiras, although he never had a chance in the any of the portuguese big clubs

I think he did, but who knows. Casilla could have done better though

Casilla sent off, and Beto subbed at half time means that 4 goalkeepers will have played in this game.

Villarreal are unbeaten in 18 games. Should be an interesting game between them and barca in 30 minutes.

Didn't think there'd be a more mental game than Sassuolo v Inter, but this Sevilla v Espanyol match is trying it's best.

2 minutes left and Iago Aspas scores to make it 3-2 Sevilla.

This game has been bonkers.

Iborra skies it, should've been Sevilla's 4th... again great work from Bacca there

Not only that, they've scored in their last 25 games which is better than any other team in Europe this season, I think.

28 days later... haha what a way to dramatize Barça's "crisis". Love that soundtrack though

Hope Barcelona vs Villareal is a high scoring game :D
