La Liga - 2014/15

Is this the first time Messi's played on the right in a while? Haven't seen much of Barca this season. He's having an electrifying game.

Haven't seen Atlético's defense open up like today in a long time. The referee hasn't helped, but still. Messi running riot after being dogshit against them last season.

Been playing there for a few months, though he doesn't usually spend so much time on the touchline.

Messi 7 successful dribbles in this half. Never seen our guys play with so much intensity this season. No idea what happened in the locker room.

Neymar's injury
Messi's handball
1 min added time despite brawl + Neymar's injury

Surprising from Undiano who's supposed to be the best Spanish referee.

We deserve to be leading, best half this season. They finally seem to CARE !!

I detect a lack a reactions from the usual gang that usually comment on Madrid games refereeing decisions :D
They are probably too busy writing posts in case RM get a penalty in the next games so they can be first to comment ...

Barcelona have been on top and quite comfortable with Atletico not having a sniff. Messi was great too. It has definitely been his best game against Atletico in a while, he was the best player on the pitch. The referee hasn't helped Atletico at all though with Barcelona's second goal coming from a Messi handball (which in Spain is always a yellow) followed by Messi's forearm smash later on which also went unpunished.

Nope, they discontinued this "guideline" last season I believe. Though I guess you could argue it was Messi's intent to control it with his arm in which case it should've been a yellow anyway. Dunno, always find it harsh to book a player when they try to chest it but it still partially hits the biceps.

Must have been only for the big clubs then because i've seen this kind of handball being punished with yellow card multiple times in other games this year.

I think refs usually give bookings only when it hits the forearm or the hand. When it hits the upper arm it's often too difficult to be sure.

Maybe because Barca is playing good football and winning. Bad decisions went for both teams.

Well, like I said it depends on whether it was intentional. It probably was. The issue here looks to me that none of the officials had a good view of it or were anywhere near it to make the call with any sort of certainty -- though to be fair, that usually doesn't stop them.

I think both Madrid and Barcelona get a calls from the refs all the time. I don't discriminate either. It's the other clubs that suffer, not the big two.

Moyes' La Real somehow get a draw at Los Cármenes. Dire football from them, Granada were in complete control in the 2nd half.

I don't think it was intentional. Heck i only saw it was a handball in the 4th or 5th replay. And i completely agree with the bolded part

Obviously, but not much different from any other top flight I would say... there's the added benefit of the inherent randomness and inconsistency of Spanish refs so... meh.

Spanish and portuguese refs are terrible. Must be a cultural thing

Hah, there you go... Soft pen called against Messi, universal balance restored :D
