La Liga 2013-2014

Real Madrid could actually do the treble this season but they will need Barca's help.. ahem.
I'd say Real has the initiative now. I doubt Atletico will win against Barca in the last match. Maybe a draw, but to win there is a big ask.

But, but, I thought it was only in the PL where a mid-table team can beat top of the league.

When was the last time they won the treble?
We never won a treble. If Madrid won a treble this year then it would be their first. Would be crazy if they were to win a treble the same year they win the tenth. That would be some achievement. Long way to go though

Barca helping Madrid into an historic treble. :wenger:

Yet it's not an entirely impossible proposition as things stand.

Well Barca lost to Valladolid when they were in first place, and Valladolid were last. It has occurred far too many times in the past as well, yet lots of people repeat the same old banalities again and again.

The first leg of the quarter-finals in the CL, specifically after they went behind. That's the only time against Atletico that they looked like they bothered. Of course Atletico deserves credit too for their effort of closing down Barca most of the games, that was pretty remarkable, but when Barca folded themselves out, they were definitely the better team and should have won the game.

How is it problematic?

It's problematic in the sense that it's not credible to claim that Barca were not motivated in the second CL QF. OK, Messi was definitely not, but the team as a whole wanted another CL semi like always. Impossible to argue otherwise. Maybe you can say that the Supercopa should not be taken that seriously, and that in the Liga game in the Vicente Calderon Barca had crucial absences, but the CL tie cannot be discounted. Atleti were quite excellent over both legs and did enough. Even though, and I insist on this, that Diego wonder-goal played a crucial part as to how things went from there on then.

I don't remember United ever getting a good enough price for a player. Even Ronaldo was a better purchase than sale. Don't expect anything different with Nani.

The most apt. thread post in forums history.

Can't believe Atlético went and blew it today. Well, actually I can. Levante are a right pain in the ass. Still, whatever happens now I guess they have nothing to be ashamed of. 3 massive games in the space of 8 days, all away from home. The small squad has done miracles really and huffed and puffed through a lot of tough games grinding out results. They are all running on empty now, and it just shows how good they were on wednesday night. Real winning the treble would be sickening.

I must say I prefer head to head than gd, I'd like to see than in the pl
Used to be a rare thing, but it's possible we could see it twice in 3 years in the premier league. Head to head wouldn't have made any difference though on these occassions

Diop was racially abused by atleti fans throughout the match, the ruckus at the final whistle was because of that. Diop goes on to dance to mock the fans who were enacting monkey gestures. Oh Spain!

Didn't know Atletico's last game is at Camp Nou! This could be very interesting. Atletico had the chance to wrap it up before that game and prepare for the guard of honor, but with today's loss now they could be left to fight against Barca and win it. I must say I'd be chuffed to see a Real win today :)

Real have won the last four and have four games to play, I think there's a really good chance they drop points in one of their four games left. Even Real very rarely win 8 in a row.

I like it more too. Goal difference is a bit unfair because team quality changes a lot depending at what time you're playing sides (eg. Crap sides tend to be a lot better at the start and end of the season).

Wait a min,

If Real Madrid win today and Atletico Madrid lose against Barca, would Atletico win the title because of the 'head to head' rule, instead of GD?

Too easy so far for real. Matter of time

Madrid are coming off their best result in ages on from Tuesday night. Valencia are coming off a nightmare tie in the UEFA from Thursday night against Sevilla. Nevermind the obvious gulf in class. Real domination of this game is what one would always expect.

Madrid have to win all four of their remaining games to stand a chance, that is if Atleti beat Malaga at home next week.

Nope..

Atletico need to win against Barca for head to head to apply.. they lost today against Levante..

Thanks,

If Atletico win their next match, you said head to head would apply, but would it be an advantage to Atletico or Real?
