La Liga - 2012/2013

 @ Barca game both teams surrounding the ref like mad after Fab slapping another player on the calf.

I think the bench and coaching staff also need to start surrounding the ref, maybe this way they will convince him of their viewpoint.

Hmm just noticed that Ronnie didn't even start the game, is he injured?

Back injury - a few weeks old. I guess Mourinho is trying to do his patriotic duty for the Portuguese team. Ramos and Alonso are rested as well, again with old injuries.

Embarrising defending by Madrid in this game. Obvious that none of the attacking players really cared about the score, what with half of them being on their way out.

Real Sociedad must be disappointed with themselves, especially Agirretxe. Too many chances missed, conceded too easily.

Good thing they got some karma from that goal disallowing decision (assuming the decision was offside and not a foul).

Exciting last round. No team has been relegated. Osasuna just got cleared of the danger.

Key games:
Celta Vigo (34p) - Espanyol
Deportivo La Coruna (35p) - Real Sociedad (63p)
Mallorca (33p) - Real Valladolid
Real Zaragoza (34p) - Atletico Madrid
Sevilla - Valencia (65p)

They think it's all over...
well it will be soon.

The last night of La Liga and no one has yet been relegated - any three from the last four. Valencia have sneaked back into the fourth CL spot over Real Sociedad but they may have to win tonight to stay there. Barcelona meanwhile are trying to match the 100 point record that Real Madrid got last year.

4 Valencia 65 points
5 Real Sociedad 63

17 Deportivo 35
18 Celta 34
19 Zaragoza 34
20 Mallorca 33

Saturday, 1 June 2013 (from the BBC so all times are UK)
Real Madrid v Osasuna, 16:00
Barcelona v Malaga, 18:00
Celta de Vigo v Espanyol, 20:00
Deportivo La Coruna v Real Sociedad, 20:00
Granada v Getafe, 20:00
Levante v Real Betis, 20:00
Mallorca v Valladolid, 20:00
Rayo Vallecano v Athletic Bilbao, 20:00
Real Zaragoza v Atletico Madrid, 20:00
Sevilla v Valencia, 20:00

Incidentally though Diego Lopez is injured, Casillas is still not getting a game - Adan will get (probably) his last match with the club instead. A whole bunch of others like Alonso, Ramos, and Ronaldo (and Casillas as well in fact), who are nursing injuries, are out as well, as are Khedira, Pepe and Coentrao - presumably to help their NTs

Exciting stuff. Who do we reckon is going to survive? Mallorca and Celta probably have the most winnable ties. What are the head-to-head implications if teams are level on points?

Ronaldo hanging around in the tunnel as the Madrid team go out, looking like the kid who's hoping someone won't show up and he'll get a game. Bet he's got his boots with him as well.

 what a site that was with all the photographers around Mourinho

Farcical scenes just after the kickoff as the press cameras mob Mourinho. Great stuff. Madrid security and the ref have to shoo them off.

The team is: Jesús, Arbeloa, Carvalho, Albiol, Essien; Modric, Özil, Callejón, Di María, Higuaín y Benzema

Just biding my time on the Jesus saves things now..

Well, Depor has head-to-head advantage over Mallorca and Celta, but not Zaragoza. Celta have head-to-head over Zaragoza, so they have to win and hope Depor lose and then they're safe. Mallorca is as good as relegated IMO. Others are tricky to say. Depor have by far the hardest opponent, but also the greatest position to start from. Celta have an ace up their sleeves with that H2H over Zara, in case they both win and Depor don't (which seems likely against La Real).

Some Jose Mourinho chants and then some whistles from other Madrid fans

Great work there - most of the polls and betting odds reckon that Celta are the likeliest survivors. Though of course if Valencia are three up in ten minutes at Sevilla, Real Sociedad may lose interest - their form has really let them down this past month.

Fabregas nice goal after a one two with Iniesta

The second they got knocked out against Dortmund their season was over.

Goal attempts 9-23??

No. 18-26. 9-13 on target. Real only with 2 attempts outside the box whilst Osasuna has 18 attempts outside.

Didn't see the game but it seems that perhaps with a bit more patient Osasuna could have played the ball better and gotten into better chances instead of always shooting. Real's defense has been horrible since they beat Dortmund and the back 5 that was playing was hardly the dream of any team in the league to have.
