Kylian Mbappe | Signs new PSG contract until 2025, La Liga says they intend to file a complaint

It's not about money, because Mbappe is set for generations regardless of where he goes, it's about making history and winning his hometown's first ever CL over adding to Madrid's already extensive cabinet. For all the outside perspective on PSG, it's still his hometown, would people really turn up their nose at being able to deliver your home city's first ever CL, even if it was a long shot?

You are talking like it's a given he wins the CL with him. How many years PSG are trying to win the CL?
It can easily be that Mbappé will be in his thirties and PSG is still chasing the big dream of the first CL trophy, like Man City.

Bold move when QSI already have UEFA in their pockets

That has to be the stupidest thing Tebas has ever said. Absolutely pointless to complain. Al Khelafi could go onto the field, tackle a ref and kick him in the head and UEFA wouldn't move a finger.

If anything was guaranteed, sports would be completely pointless. I said it's a long shot, and I personally hate this 'CL-or-bust' philosophy on a tournament that hardly guarantees the best team even wins, but it's undeniably better for a Parisian to try and fight to win the first CL his city could win than adding to Madrid's collection.

I don’t know what is driving your love in for psg, the Qatar and their sports washing propaganda. Calling it a sporting project.
Do you feel the same about Man city too ? And now Newcastle united ?

I don't have a "love-in" for PSG. I just think they are one of the most attractive clubs around for players right now. If you guys want to wrestle with reality do so.

Manchester City are indeed one of the best sporting propositions for any player. Arguably best manager, top class talent/team mates in every position, great wages, titles and a good shout at winning the highly coveted CL.

Newcastle hasn't done anything, so???

They act like he disrespected the club and this was his last chance, meanwhile this is the third time he's rejected them and they'll still be waiting for him with open arms if he continues his trajectory of being the best player in the world. People can hate all they want, makes it seem it's all about the money when it's probably the least important factor for him, I find it absolutely admirable that he chose to stay and fight for it, but it may be a big mistake if they don't end up winning it, but if they do then he becomes a far bigger legend than he would just delivering Madrid's next CL.

True fan here. Delusional fan belief at its finest. Unfortunately we are all guilty of it.

It might be funny to see Madrid tasting their own medicine for once.

On the other hand it's a clear (and worrying) sign where football is heading. The oil and state sponsored clubs will dominate international football in the near future. New Castle will be the next joining City and PSG. 200, 300 or 500 million Euro are nothing for governments which earn billions of Petrodollars every day. Traditional football clubs will have to no chance to compete with them
Can wait for the first transfer saga between 2 oil clubs. Then it won't be about millions but billions....

Real Madrid will try to sign him again in the future. They ain't fooling no one with all that anger. There is no space for pride with all those oil clubs out there.

How so? He would have been the best paid player in the world whether he signed at Madrid or PSG, you think an extra 2-3 million makes a big difference to someone who's already set for generations? He wants to win in Paris, that means more than winning in Madrid, that makes far more sense than giving up your 'dream' for an extra couple of millions you'll never have time to spend anyways.

Yes? What does this have to do with anything I said?
"PSG is one of the best sporting projects around. Always a candidate for the CL and have a stacked squad, and financial backing to attract any talent."
read the sentence slowly and point out where I said Real isn't a good sporting proposition, please.
PSG cannot be called "always a candidate for the CL" when they have progressed to the semifinals twice in their entire existence. Statistical models like 538 gave them equal chances to win the CL as Dortmund and United at the beginning of this season.

I wouldn't be so sure about it. In 3 years time there might a new, even more shining toy they will be after.

Why is he only signing a three-year contract? Did PSG not want to offer him a longer one?
Because he definitely is not going to spend his entire career in Ligue 1. But they have Messi and Neymar, on top of Hakimi, Veratti, Mendes, Marquinhos, and whoever else they bring in, if there's a time to win it's within the next three years. I don't think he will stay at PSG for more than 2 seasons from now anyways. I'm sure PSG tried to tie him to a longer contract, but this is clearly a last contract with the club and then he will move to England or Spain (less likely IMO).

It's wild how many are believing the absurd tweets we've been fed these last few days.

Can't wait for the inevitable leak of the details of this saga.

Good thing people don't live their lives bound by statistical models like 538 - whatever the hell that is. You ask people teams with a shout of winning the CL and PSG's name will be mentioned. They are a candidate for it, due to the quality players they have. Mbappe being one.

None of this explains why you replied to me saying PSG are a candidate for the CL with what Real has achieved in the last two seasons.

I refuse to believe this. No way.
It's not true. Just like him given a stake of ownership, choosing the manager, and getting 72 virgins waiting for him after every game isn't true either. Sports media is an absolute joke, the problem is it's very difficult to get actual credible reports of contracts until much later.

Some people have been clouded by their hatred for Madrid so much that they are now defending Mbappe’s renewal calling it sensible and competitive not based on money only but on glory. Makes me laugh. As obnoxious and sanctimonious as Madrid are, Psg owned by qataris are a slimy, soulless unscrupulous, hideous club. Outside of their fans, no self respected person can support and defend them as far as I am concerned.

Still no winners here for me though. Both Madrid and Psg can feck off. Both should be laughed and mocked not defended. Just have some popcorn and enjoy the drama.

OK, I get it. You and I just have a disagreement of definitions. I define a "good sporting project" as "one which achieves things." You define it as "one which people say could achieve things."

Also, Paul Pogba must be punching the air right now.

Its no wonder he has to choose juventus.

Not because he wants to, but because PSG won't have the necessary wages to offer to him after this mbappe bank robbery, and citeh would never upset their team by offering over the odds salary for a prancing cnut who probably doesn't fit their system.

Juve aren't going to even be able to match the salary we offer him, but at the very least he can go back to an inferior league and look half decent.

He really fecked himself.

What a small fecking club PSG are.

and you can also bet your arse mbappe will be gone in 2-3 years time. For sure.

Nah, he is going to spend his entire prime there, unless i guess City really wants him.

So your argument is that Mbappe wants to make history at PSG but is only willing to give himself three years to win a knockout competition.

I hope you can understand this is just not very believable.

He is 23. In 3 years time he will be hitting his prime.

You's lot will get him then. Maybe in 2 years since PSG will most likely this time accept a transfer fee to recoup their losses.

I don't like tebas, but he is right.

PSG need to be booted the feck out of the CL for the losses they are making.

Its no wonder why some teams want a super league. Who wants to be in a competition run by PSG's corrupt feck of a president?

I'm all for the super league, if they make it equitable and change the "legacy team" format. Although having said that, the CL is doing just the same soon.

At the very least the legacy clubs will be in control of their own destiny and not have to bend to these corrupt fecks known as UEFA and FIFA.

It's not inconceivable that Macron was brought into this. Qatar is a rich country that's investing shitloads into France. PSG's owners will undoubtedly have a line right to the top.

Well I get it wouldn't be very believable to a Madridista, but the fact is if he stayed three years, that would make it eight at PSG, that's enough time to move on and say you gave it your best shot.

Now try to believe it means more to some people to win for Paris than for Madrid.

I hope salah now creates problem with his renewal. Why sign for 300k per week when you can get double offer elsewhere?

Meh. It's a funny one. It obviously isn't just about the money (no matter what tha La Liga mouthpieces will say). There is no doubt that if Newcastle had offered him substantially more than PSG that he would have rejected it. PSG are for better or worse his hometown club so that is a clear factor in this.

I would agree however that the reported financial incentives to join an oil club are obscene- to say nothing about the kickbacks and bungs that are definitely going on off the books- and that it undermines traditional powerhouses in a concerning way.

@Tavern in the town mentioned that PSG were just doing what Barca already did with Messi but of course the difference is that Barca have to bear the brunt of bad financial decision making whereas PSG don't.

I'm guessing that Zizou has his heart set on the France job after Deschamps leaves, so if he rocks up at PSG (particularly as a son of Marseille) you can be sure that they threw enough zeros on the end of his weekly wage to convince him too.

Thing is, it's not like he's skint is he? Nor would earn peanuts at Real. He's basically proven he's a greedy b*stard and would rather play Sunday league week in week out then challenge himself at club level in a decent league.
"Sunday league", have a word with yourself.

Apparently the Emir had asked Macron and even Sarkozy to help up pressure on the home front

Absolutely one of the madness football sagas we've had in recent memory

The good thing about it is that we are talking about France, if it's the case judges are already trying to put him in jail.
