In the end he may have stretched it out to fatten the offers on both sides, as this journalist says(I don't know who is)

I didn't like his mother talking on Twitter at this point and talking about two offers. I understand that he wants to be respectful to PSG but in my opinion so much waiting makes him a bit ridiculous like Griezmann and his decision.

Griezman announced his decision in mid june, it's far later than Mbappé. The transfer window isn't even open yet. A lot of players are unsure about where they'll play next season :
- Lewa
- Pogba
- Dybala
- Dembele

We're not talking about premiership players here.

I totally believe that. Molina is a long form journalist, his long form pieces are serious but his gossiping isn't.

"Potentially" means what it means. It was never meant to be taken as gospel, we'll find out soon enough. One thing is sure though, wanting to keep a player who's expressed as blatantly as he could that he wanted to leave is pathetic for me. Whatever happens, PSG will always be a laughing stock

I mean, Real Madrid are chasing a player that already rejected them when he was at Monaco and is now apparently making them wait in the dark. Our Kylian is making both clubs look like fools, now watch him sign for Bayern.

He is, for sure, you're right. It's very unhealthy how clubs are ready to engage these sums of money towards players who are extremely greedy.

With the latest updates this is what I think is going on and it comes as disrespectful for both PSG and Real Madrid fans, at least I'm not enjoying this. If he doesn't want to make his decision public yet it's perfectly fin, but with his mother tweeting that and all the circus in the last day this is getting ridiculous. So yeah, it's like he's making both teams to openly compete in order for him to get the best offer.

Whether he comes or stays in PSG he has managed to upset a large part of the fans, so he needs to be careful and either just make a decision already or stop fueling all the gossip and nonsense around him.
 
This is so stupid. Mbappe really screwed this up big time. I am sure he will get his dream move and lots of money, but what he is doing is distasteful and really not in good faith. I mean we shit on Messi for dancing around for oppressive regime, but this is also terribly bad on Mbappes part and later in his career if he goes around prancing for these regimes we should not be surprised.

Agree all a bit of self hyperbole and I am 100% certain he is going to Madrid anyway. Just reminds me of Hazard summer when he led everyone a dance before going to Chelsea. Mbappe is obviously a fantastic player but always watchign him feel he is more than French arrogance like we have loved from the likes of Henry and Cantona, its really distasteful arrogance, especially so young, see it on the pitch, so little surprise how he is actign off of it to me
 
His indecision / greed / negotiating comes across really badly for me.
 
He should stay on a kings ransom and build the PSG name into something meaningful.
Sign the best French talent, built a decent stadium.
Improve financial distribution within the league.

La Liga has taken a big hit since the pandemic began, I personally don’t see the benefit of going there if the money is less. If he wants a challenge in the future head to the PL.

If you believe Molina, the few thing that we "know" about Mbappé and PSG is that his issues have been about sporting decisions and having freedom when it comes to managing his image. The money side of things is allegedly settled and he finessed both sides.

He's just a player, he's not that incredible a player ffs.

He is a brand first, footballer second, like Neymar and it is built on him being the heir to Messi/Ronaldo (when there is no evidence he will be) and this has gotten all the mega clubs in a froth over image rights and money opportunities.

Whereas they (Messi/Ronaldo) were both players first, brands second. It's a distinction I'm seeing more and more now and once you see it, it is very hard to unsee.

The family are laughing all the way to the bank tbh and clearly love the attention. If the numbers PSG are apparently considering paying him, €300m signing bonus etc, then you have to realise this is no longer a sporting decision but a marketing/sports washing one.

Then you realise the numbers, attention etc have so little to do with his actual talent (of course he is talented) but with what he represents and what both clubs believe they can make off of him in endorsements/image rights, it sullies the sport tbh.

No player is that good, Mbappe especially.

A lot of things no, but that one is pretty much widespread and part of the reason why Leonardo is under fire. And I mentioned Molina because the last "turn" is based on El Chiriguinto and a cryptic tweet from Molina.

I can't speak for Murder, but personally speaking, the more stories, inches and columns given regarding players on field performances, the better. Yes, players have lives outside of football, but the moment there's more articles about off field activities than there is about his on field performances, that's an issue. He's a footballer, first and foremost. He's paid eye watering sums to be the best in the world.

Ronaldo and Messi did their fair share of marketing, let's not kid ourselves. But they were at the top of their game every weekend and it seemed that was their priority.

In that case how does that apply to Mbappé. We know next to nothing about Mbappé off field activities, we know that he is obsessed with Football but that's about it. Mbappé is a lot closer to Messi in that regard while Ronaldo is the one that has been involved in other activities fairly early and having a hollywood life.

Mbappé lives a pretty quiet live outside of the whole new contract thing, and it's not really what I consider an "off field activity".

Other than that, the season is over, one last game to play, i'm pretty sure it won't prevent him from being at the top of his game against Metz tonight...

Don't do that, I simply asked you about your point of view because I don't see what you described. Mainly because Mbappé doesn't have a profile outside of Football in France, he doesn't really talk to the press outside of Football related press conferences and his life outside of Football is not really a topic.

For me, it's the fact that he feels a need to publicly schedule an announcement for which club he is going to join. It's the fact he would even consider the idea that, as a 23 year old footballer, he should be entitled to power over transfers and team decisions.

I also struggle with the idea that a player entering his prime, has the opportunity to join one of footballs great clubs, the same club he has talked about joining all his life, but is having this difficult a time choosing between it and staying with a club like PSG in a league where they are so financially dominant, it makes the idea of genuine competition ridiculous.

To me that just smacks of a young man with his priorities in the wrong places. He's not alone - in fact, young players who just want to keep their heads down and let their football do their talking are very much the exception these days.

We still don't really know how he's going to announce it, and it was hard for him not to give a date since since he's CONSTANTLY asked about it every time a journalist sees him. How is he supposed to keep his head down when he's constantly harassed by the press?

"Smacks of a young man with his priorities in the wrong places" is the last thing that people would say about Mbappé, it's litterraly the opposit of what every former player or journalist who meets him say about him.


Mbappé is 23, not 28, he still has 10 years at the highest level and he could be 5 years away from his prime, he has time.
 
If he decides to stay with PSG after all this, the. Wow; money really does talk. Let him play in French league and earn his 900k a week. I don’t think he will ever reach his full potential there. The money side of the game has just gone mad and this will change the landscape even more.

They'd already won Balon d'Ors and were dominating in the biggest competitions. Mbappe has not done half of what those two have done. You're looking at it almost too literally.

You're the one who says he has no visibility outside of France and he is literally the cover star for one the most downloaded games ever.

How much of that is factual? Even the scheduled announcement isn't, it's based on journalists guessing that he will announce it when the season is over and before he joins the French national team.

No I said that outside of Football. And there is plenty of players that haven't won a BO and have been on the cover, Rooney being one of them.

Not necessarily but it often is. And I was talking about potential agreements with both clubs, if rumours are correct he doesn't want money for image rights, he wants to own them himself and do whatever he wants with it, on that topic the FFF have the same issue.
