No, cause Qatar wont be buying him. The release clause in La Liga is basically someone buying himself out of his contract for a set fee, thus becoming a free agent. Then this free agent will go sign for a new team. During the process at no point does Qatar have rights to him hence they are paying him to be an ambassador for the world cup.

Neymar and his entorage is the third party themselves. And how will those 222 m euros given to him be tax free which he can use to buy out the clause.

We were linked early on but we have either been told he's not interested or spooked by the fee. Probably both.

Wouldn't he already be a Madrid player if that was the case.

Word is the government of Qatar is going to give him a massive fee to be the ambassador for the 2022 world cup, then he'll use that money to buy out his contract.

Wouldn't he have to pay tax on that though?

Would really kill football as how we see it now. Not denying it's possible, but really what would be the point if this happened.

If JC Blanc was at the LFP this afternoon that theory is wrong.

When did he exactly visit qatar and transfer into which account in which country?
It doesn't take long to go to Qatar if it's required, I just don't see how Spain can tax him for being an ambassador for the WC.

Spain surely also cannot tax him for transferring money from his Qatar account to a bank in Spain?

A bit odd that we're not even linked with him. Wonder if he didn't show any interest in coming here or the club was put off by the fee

Was reported he had no interest in coming here.

Probably the case, but the fee is probably another factor.

Why not ofcourse they can, Its bloody money laundering and illegal.

Clubs don't pay cash to the LFP for the release clauses, its not seen as an exchange from club to club.

Why would PSG go to the LFP if it wasn't to do it themselves otherwise it would have been Neymar's agent?

Yet he doesn't mind going to City? I'm guessing it's the Pep and Mou factor

I only saw reports of City being interested in him and not him being interested in City.

I think he wants to go to Spain(Real preferably).

Watched him against PSG. Might not have scored, but he is lightning in a bottle.

Barcelona should really go for him, hell, we should.

I don't think Neymar is a Spanish citizen (and don't think Spain has worldwide tax anyway), so how are they going to tax him on his income overseas?

Its illegal money laundering , if its happens this way. A criminal case.

Come on how did they get so rich? Fifa won't touch them cause it's corrupt to the core anyway. People talk about an untouchable bubble and in a way it's right, football won't collapse but it will change. Competitive
Football relies on smaller teams without them you don't have a league, some say the top clubs will just form a super league but that is just stupid, in a super league there will only ever be 1 champion big clubs won't want that. I don't want that.

Citizenship doesn't matter, If you are classed an official resident in Spain you will be subject to Spanish tax on your worldwide income. He'd be due for 45% of it.

Don't see how he gets round this

If I were him, I'd take that massive money from Qatari government and move to Cayman. Good bye football.

Qatar can loan him the 222m a write off the debt later or pay him once he's no longer a Spanish resident?

They won't do anything such blatant or there would be mass outrage from all clubs and Uefa/FIFA will have to act.

People need to remember Real Madrid's net spend over the last 8 transfer windows is only €220m (including this one thus far). Even if we pay €150m for Mbappe, our net spend this summer window is only €100m. We aren't even close to what other clubs are spending.

If you did get mbappe as well it has to be said that you would have some players with huge potential (of course living up to it is not guaranteed but with Mbappe, Viniscus, Odegaard, Asensio there is the basis of a cracking attack for the next decade - or at least untill psg make one of them the first billion euro footballer

Spain doesn't tax players for buyout clauses anymore. France, on the other hand, apparently intends to.

He is currently a tax resident of Spain.

However, the day he leaves he can claim he is not as long as he cuts ties.

I suspect FIFA will keep their nose well and truly out of any Qatari dealings, I dont think they will want to poke the hornets nest. Too many secrets between FIFA and Qatar.

Apparently it's City, Real and Barca after him now.

I am not sure who I think is most likely to get him. Pretty even. May come down to who offers him the biggest salary.

Something tells me he's going to flop this season. Monaco should take €120m+ if they're offered it.

I don't think he is going to flop but I don't think his stock will get any higher. The stars aligned for him last season and he had the perfect team around him. That's been decimated this summer so you would think it will be harder for him to impress like that again.

With that in mind, Monaco should cash in. He'll have a year left next summer and it could be after an inferior year.

No chance. He will no doubt have a tougher season as he's got a target on his back now, bit like Rashford with us at first. Burst onto the scene and people didn't know what to expect. Now people know they can't let him get running and will take him out quickly.

I expect he will comfortably score 20 goals this season, and still have an immense highlight real. The kid is the deal deal as much as people don't want to accept it.

He was being a smartass and it has blown up in his face. He was going to be THE transfer of the year, now he's just gonna be something after Neymar. Big blow to his ego and marketability.
