Transfers do not work in such a way that you pay what a player is worth. If there were 10 M'Bappes around in the French league than I guess the fee would be 40-50m. Pogba and Martial were overpriced but still we paid the fee that the selling club wanted, and I hope we do the same for M'Bappé even at 100m.
So which striker do you suggest that we sign for 50-60m? We will not even get Lukaku for that amount and we won't get Kane for 100m.
Pogba is 24 years old and proved himself for various seasons, same for Lukaku who has been scoring consistently for some seasons in EPL now. That kid, however, is only 18 years old and played only on good season in his life. There's no guarantee he won't drop to inconsistency level next season. He didn't prove himself for various seasons as Pogba and Lukaku did.
I see your point about experience and I agree that M'Bappé is overpriced. But I fail to see which striker you think we should pursue instead of him? Lukaku? Aubameyang?

I wonder if people felt this way about Lukaku and if not, was it just because he didn't score in the CL against City and Dortmund? at just 16, Lukaku made his debut and became top scorer in Belgium. He also scored 4 in Europe and he only turned 17 that season

I said this as a leading question. How much would people be valuing a 16-18 year old Lukaku today then, or do you need to score against a couple teams in the Champions League and you've made it? City are known for a weak defense and Dortmund are also a shadow of their former selves but it seems that these goals have elevated people to believe he is proven as one of the worlds best already. I really don't want us to have to rely on another 18 year old striker to win the league
Mou will never have Griezmann to lead the line so they are a bit difficult to compare. I prefer M'Bappé but would be happy if we can secure one of them.
No, you need to deliver continuously for some seasons before teams start to think about buying such a price for a talent. At 16-18 years a talent can go either way, in the great path or to be a freak of nature for one season and disappears. You can't gamble with such a price until you make sure. If you can get such a talent for a reasonable price then go on.
I think Griezmann will be a perfect 9, intelligent movement, headers and critical finishing. I think Mbappe won't be much difference in style if we brought him and played him as a striker so if Jose wants Mbappe then he maybe thinking of using such kind of strikers next season.

Its not so long since we went chasing loads of top players but ended up with........Fellaini. Its always a torturous struggle for United to sign anyone.

We over paid for Mata and I cant remember anyone else chasing him, not that he's a bad player.- Falcao was always a risk and turned out to be finished before he arrived. - Di Maria was also past his best and was a waste of money. - Ibra had played everywhere else and just fancied a crack at the premiership. We would never have got him in his prime. - Schwein was over the top and basically finished according to one source at Bayern. I cant remember a decent performance from him at united.- The money we paid for Martial was crazy. No other club would have paid that and he's hardly set the world on fire, plus endless rumours of him leaving the club.- As for Pogba, he's averaging 6.2 on this site which says it all. A bang average performer with a world record price.- My point is that we never seem to get the very best when they are at their very best.

At 120m i'm not Mfappe over Mbappe but kid looks good. If he had another season like he has had then i'd say worth it next year. But then there is the fear of missing out.
