Kuyt to Inter

Lol you 2, play nice.

IMO Ekeke, the stats you produced, proved "our" point a bit more then your own. Hes "productivity" for assists might have been a bit lower, but then he scored almost double the amount of goals then any of our wingers. Considering he played (as pointed out) for a struggling team, a more defensive team and a team who had their star striker (Torres) out for most of the season, those stats are pretty "on par" - if not better than our wingers.

I agree with you that a "more attack minded" player might have suited Pool better, but that is irrelevant to the main point we were discussing i.e. Kuyt being worth 15M or not.

Well I was asked when our attacking players had that kind of return. My answer was, most of them. And last season.

A return is something you'd always base on the amount of games played in. And Kuyt played in more matches for Liverpool than a lot of our attacking players who still had a better return. Only Valencia was involved in more matches. Everyone else less... Some considerably less and still produced more.

Kuyt was bought as a freescoring striker in the Netherlands at a time when the league wasnt shite like now. It was an extremely respectable record - better than Kezman, Ruud, Huntelaar, Afonso Alves, Suarez etc. And he was signed for £10 million as a 26 year old.

Since then we've seen he's actually an average striker. But a useful player out wide who does a decent job, or in 2008/2009 he done a very good job.

But at 30 years old with just a couple of seasons before he most likely declines like most players, is he worth even as much as he was back then given the potential and record he had? Obviously times have changed a bit with the money, so I'm not asking if he's worth more than that £10 million they paid. But at 30 years old is he worth, in relative terms, more than back in 2006 where his record was brilliant and he looked like he'd be a real good striker for someone? Because that bubble has burst. As a striker he failed. And useful player though he is, he's nowhere near as good a winger compared to how good of a striker he might have been coming off a great time in the netherlands.

£15 million is a lot of money for a player 30 years plus. It's only a couple of million less than Henry went to Barcelona for. Fees generally decline a lot in these years, I hate to think what you guys think he'd have been worth 2 years ago... The funny part being most of you thought he was shite then and not even worth the £10 million paid. Not more than he's now worth at 30.

Also, just went through espn soccernet's match reports. And Kuyt started 27 of his 48 matches last season up front. Let alone changes made during the game to move him up top which was one of Rafa's favourite tactics after around 70 minutes of a match.

Thats obviously not including the times Liverpool started with a front 3.

What? Did you watch many of Liverpool's games last season? He didn't start upfront very often at all, let alone 27 times!

He started up front in plenty of games last season. Check for yourself by clicking on the result of each match. I did watch a bunch of Liverpool matches last season but obviously not the majority. But in the matches I watched he did start the majority up front.

I don't know how you found out he played upfront looking at that, could you elaborate?

As I said, click on the link in each row of the result column. This will take you to the match section of each match Kuyt played a part in last season. Scroll down and it'll have the lineups of each match and in the pos column will be the role he played from the start of the game.

Oh never mind, found what you're on about. I hope you're not including the ones that say RCF?

They list Gerrard as playing RCF when he's up top with Torres. With a RM (Kuyt) usually also in the same team. Its a second striker role or in Gerrard's case, in the hole.

What I didnt include is when there are 3 F's listed. As clearly they are playing a 4-3-3 with Kuyt on the wing.

We never ever started with a front 3. If he started upfront 27 times then I'm a goddamn chinaman.

Benitez on Inter trying to sign Liverpool players 'I am the coach and I cannot sign players. I focus on my work on the pitch.':D

Have you not heard, Gerrard actually plays upfront now. I had no idea that the guy playing in the middle of the 3 in a 4-2-3-1 was classed as a striker now. Does that mean that Sneijder is a striker?

Dirk Kuyt on Dutch TV: ''I have an interesting offer from Inter, I need to speak to Liverpool and decide where my future is.''

Be good news for us, in more ways then one.

I'd say we have just as good of a chance at landing Kuyt as we do Wesley.
