Dirk Kuyt has apparently claimed that Inter Milan have made a bid for him.

The Dutch forward has reportedly been the subject of interest from Rafa Benitez's new side this summer, and Kuyt appears to have confirmed this.

The Mail on Sunday carries quotes from Kuyt, in turn taken from a Dutch newspaper, claiming that Liverpool have told him about an offer.

They quote Kuyt as saying: "On Thursday night, during the Europa League game against Trabzonspor, the board of Liverpool informed me officially that they have received a fax from Inter.

"You can call this a luxury situation for me now."

The Mail claims the bid is around £15million, and that Kuyt will now decide whether to rejoin his old boss.

Indeed, the Dutchman's agent said on Friday: "Yes, there is real interest from Inter, but Dirk has not yet decided if he wants to leave Liverpool.

"This is also a complicated transfer. Dirk Kuyt is a key player for Liverpool, he has an ongoing contract and was recently in the World Cup final.

"He may move to Inter or just stay at Liverpool. There is also the possibility that a player from Inter could be included in the deal with Dirk Kuyt."

However, this contradicts the view of Roy Hodgson, who said on Saturday:

"I spoke to Massimo Moratti about the fact they are not going to buy Liverpool players.

"I believe they were only interested in two of our players and they are not going to buy them. Moratti said they are not going to do that."

15 million. For someone who essentially runs a lot.

If I were Liverpool I'd bite their arm off. A very Rafa signing. Poor Inter.

better than quaresma who went to inter for something very similar

dont think it will happen tho .liverpool need to keep their squad together

He might not be one of the best, but hes certainly a key player in their side, so they would be weaken themselves.

Hard to imagine kuyt was once a prolific striker, goes to show how downhill the dutch league has become.

Considering Liverpool are skint, selling Kuyt and Babel would be a decent way of raising funds for Hodgson to bring in his own players.

Funny the first comment as per usual just dismisses Kuyt as a player. Yet hes a mainstay in the dutch side, consistant in the premiership and the champions league over the last 4/5 seasons. Bit like the Ngog hate. Red tinted glasses

I remember one Liverpool fan I know actually believing that Titi Camara was better than Dwight Yorke.

Oh shut up. I've been one of Kuyt's biggest defenders amongst a barrage of drivel on here. But would you pay 15 million for him? I wouldn't.

No.

He's a hard working, versatile player. But £15 million is too much for him. Take £5 million off and Rafa would be getting a decent deal.

15 millions for a decent squad player is not too much, particularly given the fact that Kuyt is a key player for Liverpool and they are in no need to sell him. I've seen much worse deals.

It is when the player is 30 years old. If he was a young player fair enough, versatility and a long time playing for the club, its not an over the top fee. But he's 30, not a good striker and a decent right sided player. £15 million is way over the top at this point.

They havent, especially not in Serie A.

Well it's a player possibly signing from the PL.If you wanna attract that kinda player from a better to an inferior league then of course you're going to pay a little bit extra.
Plus it's Inter Milan, they have resources. Not like most Serie A teams

There are other players. We arent the only club who look for value for money. If Inter have been quoted £15 million for Kuyt they should tell Liverpool to feck off and buy someone with similar versatility who is barely any worse for £7 million from wherever. He does a decent job but lets not pretend he's someone you cant replace and there are no good alternatives.

I never pretended that "he's someone you can't replace".It's just that £15m isn't expensive for a player like him when we can see similar or worse players going for more expensive fees

Can you give me a list of players "like him" that are 30+ and went for £15 million or more?

And can you also list these players who are worse than Dirk Kuyt, but transfered for more than £15 million?

What's with the list ? Is this some trial where everything has to proved by "facts".
Search it yourself

You're the one claiming that players like him or worse than him are sold for more money than this.

But since you asked so nicely here's my list of players "like him" older than 30 who went for £15 million or more :

And here's a list of players worse than Dirk Kuyt that went for £15 million or more :

I hope thats been enlightening.

£15m for a decent forward whom just went 30? I really cannot see how Liverpool can turn that down if true. I would also rate both Milito, Pandev, Eto'o and the departed Balotelli as superior players to Kuyt. However, Inter would not weakened by the deal neither, and they got money. It would only be a favor to his old club as I see it. It will probably give more time to Babel whom is more talented in my eyes.

If Rafa continues in Mourinho's 4-3-3 he could need another forward/winger.

£15m is a bit on the pricey side, but he's probably Liverpool's best winger (does that say much?), and it leaves Liverpool with little time to find a replacement.

You rate him over Joe Cole?

Its funny, nobody rates him very highly and lots of posters make fun of him... Till he might be leaving. Then he's better than Joe Cole and worth as much as Valencia.

In terms of effectiveness, on form, yes - Kuyt is a very productive right-winger on form and 2 seasons ago he scored loads of goals too. He has a terrible first touch and his technique is sloppy but full-backs hate him because he covers so much ground and defends from the front well. Cole will not be playing on the wing as much as Kuyt who is arguably established as a pure right-winger now except when Torres and N'Gog get injured.

It really depends on what you want from your wingers - but Kuyt can be very effective for Liverpool on the wing - perhaps not as tricky as Joe Cole, but Kuyt offers something different.

I don't think Joe Cole will be playing on the wing for Liverpool that often anyway - the left-wing has lots of options, while the right-wing has Kuyt and maybe Maxi.

What's with the 'I wouldn't pay 15 million for him'. Of course not, we're gimps at keyboards.

Is it 'nobody' is worth 15m or he's not worth 15 in todays market?

A guy we're never seen play cleared almost 8 from our bank account, Milner cost about 30 as did an Inter Milan reserve with bundles of potential.

Kuyt is one of the few not dropped at 'pool and a regular in the world cup finalist's team, so 15m in not really all that crazy with the examples mentioned.

I don't like Kuyt as a player but I like this pseudo accountancy that has wormed it's way into being a football fan even less.

Kuyt: Nerazzurri bound?

Liverpool striker Dirk Kuyt is still in negotiations over a move to Inter Milan, according to his agent Rob Jansen.

The Holland international has been linked with a move to the reigning European champions, who have reportedly made an offer for the 30-year-old.

Kuyt's agent claims the clubs are still in negotiations, but are yet to reach an agreement over a deal thought to be worth in excess of £15million.

"The two clubs continue to talk, but things are moving slowly," claimed Jansen.

"The difference between demand and offer is important. It is something between the clubs but Dirk told Liverpool he no longer wants to be involved as this is something that regards his career and life.

"It doesn't mean he wants to leave at all costs, but when a club like Inter comes along it's normal to look into the situation further."

The former Utrecht and Feyenoord frontman was omitted from Liverpool's Europa League win against Trabzonspor at Anfield last week but did play in the Premier League defeat at Manchester City on Monday night.

Kuyt looks likely to be heading for a reunion with former Reds manager Rafa Benitez who is a known admirer of the hard-working Dutchman.

The player's current contract sees him tied to Liverpool until the end of next season, although he has yet to publicly confirm his desire to stay at Anfield.

Still think 15 million is a fantastic deal for Liverpool if Roy gets all the money to spend on other players. I doubt he will though.

Strange deal - would offer little of the pace, touch or finishing which Eto'o gives you on that right side.
