Koke (For the Summer)

Atletico is improving financially, they don't need to sell anyone currently. Only sales were triggered due to release clause and they made decent money in each business. Also now a Chinese investor Wang Jianlin also bought 20% stake in the club. He's 2nd richest man in China. As for football, they surely are among the top teams in Europe now. He refused interest from Barca at the end of last season, he himself admitted that. It would be tough to get him now, not below his release clause anyway.

Considering they didn't own Falcao they didn't get much.. Not too sure if they fully owned Costa too? As for their financial muscle it's little league compared to the likes of us. Koke leaving is entirely up to him... Doubt Atletico would have much say.

Falcao and Koke situation are not similar. Even Falcao didn't have much choice, nor was Falcao a youth product of Atletico. He had a release clause 24million when Barca tried signing him, he declined. Now it's 60million. I don't think Atletico will agree any less than 60m, and rightly so. Over that it's a matter of whether Koke agrees or not.

The spanish James Milner

In the sense that James Milner is contributing more consistently to a good team than any other English midfielder at the moment apart from Stewart Downing (The English Isco, I guess, you nutter) and maybe Henderson (The Albion Busquets you madman), he likes running and can play in the middle or out wide?

There are Chelsea rumours about him coming. This would anger me.

Cesc--Koke
--Matic----

would dominate the Prem, I reckon.

Linked to Barca again. Apparently, they want him as Xavi's replacement.

If it took our whole budget to resign De Gea and bring him in I'd be happy:

-----------Rooney-------- (RVP, Wilson)
ADM------------------Mata (Januzaj, Nani, Young)
-------Koke---Herrera--- (Fellaini, Pereira)
-----------Carrick-------- (Blind)
Shaw---------------Rafael (Blind, Valencia)
-----Rojo----Smalling---- (Jones, Evans)
-----------De Gea-------- (Valdes)

Then in 2016 we can replace Carrick, probably RVP, Young and Valencia and we'll know better if we need a new CB or RB.

We could also play a 4-4-2 sort of thing with Mata behind Rooney, Koke and Di Maria free to create from wide and 2 CM's in the middle keeping things solid.

I think Koke is probably the hardest to sign from that Atletico team. He's their biggest asset and the first name on the sheet. Even if Chelsea meet his buyout clause they will have to convince him and it won't be easy especially considering Simeone has just signed a new contract.

I think they want to sign him this summer and let him stay at Atletico for another year. Problem is that he has already rejected them once.
Very clever. I hope this doesn't work out.

Considering Dyke's changes I doubt we should afford him. I am sure someone like Nolan can be equally effective though.

Always said I'd rather him over Pogba. Class act. And an old romantic so he belongs in the Theatre with us :)

I thought Barca had first dibs on him or something or am I thinking of someone else?
Not sure, but either way first dibs doesn't work in that nobody can put a bid in before Barca states their interest/non-interest in the player.

First dibs in footballing terms generally means that if the selling club receives a bid for a player, Barca will be notified of it and can choose to match the bid. Considering their transfer ban they can't counter against such a bid this summer anyway, making their first option irrelevant if someone puts in an acceptable offer during the summer window.

They can't do that either. The ban means no signings, no Agreements, loans etc. They can sell though.

If I understand your post, he should stay with atletico, otherwise he won't be an old romantic anymore. :p

No, they are only forbidden to register players, they can sign a player, they can agree with players, they can't loan.

Would make no sense for Atlético to commit to an agreement a year in advance. What if his value sky-rockets and they settle on much less than that, or settle on the buyout and Atlético give him a new contract with a higher buyout? What if he gets an injury and Barca just say "sorry lol don't want anymore"? Atlético has a fair amount to say in this as well.

This season.

Last season.

He won't leave them. He's born and bred at atletico, fan of the club and signed a new contract not so long ago. Think it'd take 4 years for him to make a move.

Dont know why people discuss players that are unlikely to leave their club. Koke will stay for a few years i imagine. As long as Simeone is there and they compete, there is no point in leaving soon.

If you don't try you don't get anywhere

Who would have thought fabregas would leave Barca so soon?

We need to draw a line with these crazy threads.

I know, my apologies, I couldn't resist. One day a thread about Koke will be created and just feature comments which solely concentrate on his footballing ability, rather than people charging in with cheap and easy cracks about charlie. It needs to be snuffed out

His assist for Morata's goal last night was class, first-time through ball.
