Klopp to leave Liverpool at the end of the season

The way he is going on as if he achieved something no one has. They all talk about this great Liverpool team, no doubt there were seasons where they played really good football.

That doesn't really do anything when he won 1 PL title and 1 CL.

Its funny because United with crap managers had teams finish above them in 3/4 of his seasons.
It was half of his seasons. We finished above them in 2015-16, 2017-18, 2020-21, and 2022-23.

Look, I completely agree that a lot has been made of Klopp going, though I think that part of that is just due to social media and the way that the PL is promoted as a product nowadays. However, this 'we finished above them for half of his time here' argument sounds really small time. If Poch came into OT tomorrow and took you to 3 CL finals, had you challenging for the PL for 3 or 4 seasons and you picked up a few other domestic cups, while playing attacking football, you'd rightly be gutted at him leaving in 8 years time, regardless of how may actual titles he brought in.

Just explaining some of the OTT reactions. You've had 10 years in the wilderness, we had double that and more...

I mean its clear evidence that if Poch came in he would lose all 3 CL finals and not get close to winning the league..

Although I love bantering Liverpool, lets please not mention Klopp and Poch in the same sentence.

Klopp is a proven winner... the other is just another manager that done well in his early career and living of that.

They really are the strangest club in existence aren't they? Why are they so upset about a manager leaving who barely won anything?

He won them the epl and CL titles, a few domestic cups and brought them close to a quadruple. That’s a lot more than “barely won anything”.

Already we have many fans who are clamouring for ETH to stay just for winning a second domestic cup after one of the worst seasons we had in the Epl. The same goes for Ole who has actually not won anything.

Close to a quadruple?

On paper I totally understand why people question the Liverpool adulation of Klopp, decent trophy return but nothing close to legendary.

For Liverpool fans, it is more about bringing the club back from a bad place to challenging again. Bit unlucky with the City 100+ point titles, but that's life. I know it's cliched, but he definitely got the club and people. He leaves the club in a very good place, although nothing is guaranteed in the future. I didn't enjoy the ever more frequent Klopp outbursts in his last two years, definitely time for him to move on for all concerned. I can fully understand why Klopp is seen as a legend to Liverpool fans, I also get why other fans look at it and think it's a bit weird.

feck sakes. i could do the same. you turn up day one and you claim there’s something special about liverpool. you praise liverpool as having the best “x” (fans/players/club/city/people/culture) in the world, an “x” that’s truly like no other anywhere else, when in fact, it’s just the same as everywhere else. you double down on this until you’ve convinced yourself that everyone else is inferior and just doesn’t understand how great this club is. how could their club or city possibly be the same? liverpool has loads of buildings and some history. it has parks full of dog shit and some music came from here once.

and when it comes to music, you sing your little song before kick off as if it was sent directly to anfield from a mountain with moses, rather than just nicked off some dude from the 60s, by you and a host of other clubs. you praise your kop end like it’s the only stand in the country that gives unconditional love and atmosphere. even though it’s literally the same as everywhere else and noticeably louder on games that mean more and games that you’re winning. just like everywhere else.

are liverpool fans passionate? yes. do they think liverpool is the greatest place on earth? yes. do they support their team come what may? yes. is any of that unique or special? no. you’ve had prolonged success over different generations, success which has given positive, collective experiences to your fan base and leaves you moist eyed and groined when you reminisce back together. every member of the human race is wired the same way. what would be truly special would be if the same mentality was there and you all supported crewe.

klopp would have acted the same at any club, it’s in his make up. you’re nothing special. you just play football every week.

You last paragraph sums it up nicely. He did it with Dortmund, he did it with Liverpool and he will do it with his next club. These Liverpool fans think he was their first and only love.

Not at all, you are actually spot on there, he seems to pick a club he thinks is an interesting challenge, with good support and he fits into that setup brilliantly

Wish ETH would leave us moist eyed and groined.

Carragher continually forces this narrative on CBS of City and Liverpool being the best sides in European football of this era, generally follows Madrid having knocked one of them out

I've never had that opinion, of course Liverpool are no more special than Swansea, West Brom or whoever you want to throw in the mix, all football clubs playing he same game wanting to do the best they can. You'll get fans all 'big' clubs who do think they are more special than everyone else, not me and not everyone thinks that.

Quite a funny rant that, you shouldn't get so angry about a song, fans sing songs to create a good atmosphere and hopefully to enjoy themselves, don't over think it

Seems like a reworking of your first rant, again some fans at all the 'big' clubs will think they are special, I don't and not everyone does[/QUOTE]

Agree with this
