Klopp to leave Liverpool at the end of the season

Anyone think Klopp leaving has something to do with HSG taking the club off the market? Maybe he thinks he’s taken Liverpool as far as he can under their ownership?

I refuse to celebrate this. When we were a proper club it didn’t matter how good opposing managers were cause we’d always embrace the challenge and find a way to beat them.
Ok

I know all about the bitter rivalry you lot have with Liverpool but come on, have you no compassion?

I feel a bit sorry for anyone losing their job, however otherwise you might dislike them.

For the love of God, can you not find a shred of decent human sympathy?

Huge news, was in a meeting at work when this broke and we stopped the meeting to talk about this for 10 minutes.

Delighted he's leaving, they'd be nowhere without him and will now be nowhere when he fecks off.

I don’t find it bizarre timing at all either, let the fans know, so we can absorb this last piece of poetry from one of Liverpools greatest managers knowing it’s the last few month of having the great man in the dug out
You scousers really love your poetry, dont you.

Our record vs Klopp's Liverpool in all comps: 4 wins, 8 draws, 7 losses. One more game to come, perhaps 2 (if we draw them in Fa Cup).

Klopp looking to take a step back I understand.

But his backroom team are all leaving too. Which suggests there is more to this than they are saying.

Crazy news. Great manager and he would've been my dream pick to replace Fergie all those years back. He was unlucky to come up against City and their endless pit of money, otherwise he would've won far more.

I think they get Xabi Alonso to replace, who has done very good things so far but they'll feel the impact of his loss for sure, especially with Salah and van dijk aging at the same time.

Wow

Well that’s news you don’t want coming out during a title race
Actually, I think this may win them the title. If I were Liverpool player I would play my guts out for the rest of the season to see Jurgen off with a title win. I have no doubt they feel that way, he is loved and adored there like sir Alex was here

To be honest, I would much rather that annoying Pep had left ;) Even though Klopp is Liverpool's manager he is universally liked, by even many United fans

The guy is undeniably brilliant, even without oil money and even though he has tried some digs at us over years (as expected) he is clearly a good guy

I wish him all the best

There are lots of good coaches they could bring in but most would be a step down from Klopp. Alonso or De Zerbi would be their best bets.

It would be tasty if there was something to come out about finances or asthma, along with the 115 charges saga it would be incredible. It's probably just they all see it as the right time for a break and step forwards. The sporting director is the odd one for me, since surely they would have wanted some continuity. Time will tell.

It suggests that there is already a successor in place.

Great news. Good chance Pep leaves in 2025 when contract expires too. We just have to make sure we're well placed to capitalise now.

Many you say?

Schmadtke was a temp for the summer purely to help with deals who stayed on for a bit longer because he did alright and we had no alternatives lined up. Him leaving is not surprising at all.

Hope all is okay personally for him, away from football he comes across as a decent guy.

Great news though, going to be a tough job for whoever replaces him!

Same thing happened with us when SAF left. Chances are they've already sounded out a replacement and he wants to bring in his own staff. If Klopp is exhausted, there's a good chance his backroom staff is too. I also read Lijnders wants to go into management on his own.

I dunno. I’ve played enough football manager to know that the back room staff leaving when the manager does is a pretty common thing

I mean it's much more likely to have the opposite effect and derail their season

Players in that team, especially new signings didn't go there to play for Pool, they went for him. They will now be considering their futures at the club. Other players thinking about what will a new manager think of me? Some players could subconsciously not put in as much effort, or care that much about him berating them for lack of effort in training because they know he's going.

That kind of uncertainly is much more likely - rather than a "rawh let's do it for klopp boys".
I completely disagree. In SAF's last season the players gave everything to win the league following a season where we lost it to City. We comfortably finished ahead of that same City team by 11 points. We also looked like we could have gone far in the CL that season, really getting screwed over by a ridiculous red card against Nani that completely swung the game in Real Madrid's favour after we had been winning.

Given we already have a very similar example at our own club, I don't see why you would assume the opposite would happen at Liverpool.

Yes many. He is a good guy and brilliant manager, and he is not an asshole. No need to be a hater

I dont think many like him. Respect him as a manager, but dont like him.

Also, he is a bit of an asshole.

Oh I thought he'd been a while, ah well in that case fair enough. Hands off Ashworth then.

The guy's leaving by his own decision, he's not getting sacked.

Alos, he is a bit of an asshole.

You've generally got to be a bit of an arsehole to be one of the best managers in the world ( and Klopp is the best manager for me) though unless your Ancelotti.

Klopp
Pep
SAF
Jose

Etc.

After his mum died I thought he looked exhausted and possibly unwell himself

just imagine INEOS poached him

If he's exhausted, coming to a club with 10 times the scrutiny and pressure isn't going to help is it.

"Liverpool director Jorg Schmadtke will also leave the club at the end of the January transfer window."

Sounds like some kind of loss of faith in owners by Klopp and Schmadtke. Maybe related to them trying to sell

Will this news somehow push them to a glorious 20th title to match our record on his way out?
Let's hope not.

Fergie didn't announce he was leaving til we had already won the league and were out of CL

There were a grand total of 2 games left in the season when Fergie announced his retirement.
