Yeah, it's pretty ridiculous. Going from Rodgers to Mazzarri is such a pointless move anyway, but ignoring the chance to sign Klopp is just unforgivable... If we offer him (or Ancelotti) the job and he turns us down (wouldn't blame him at all), then oh well, at least we tried! But that's just it... We HAVE to try.

There's reports they've been warned off of Klopp. Didn't really believe it, but maybe it's true since Klopp came out with his "come get me" comments. Klopp is a unique character and has a strong personality, is FSG scared he's too much of a maverick and won't toe the line? He may be a nutter but by most accounts, Klopp is a decent guy who gets on well with others.

There's not a single recent quote in there though, just made up nonsense backed up by the usual 'according to sources' bullshit, which means absolutely nothing. All they have is a 3 weeks old interview by Klopp in which he said all the usual generic, non-committed stuff, that leaves everything open (and had nothing to do with Liverpool anyway). That certainly wasn't a 'come and get me' comment in any way, just a 'I enjoy my life at the moment and we'll see what happens' interview.

Nope, not a single quote from the man himself. It's a series of rumour that is started by one news source and then re-quoted by multiple other new sources, much like how transfer seasons work.

Fair enough. But my own personal opinion, and of course I could be totally wrong, is that Klopp would be more intrigued about taking on a building project rather than inheriting an existing championship side like Bayern. He doesn't seem the type to be put off by a challenge (not implying that managing Bayern wouldn't come with its own unique pressures).

Possible. I was just wondering because you mentioned 'come and get me' comments by him, and something like that simply doesn't exist. I agree that Liverpool should try everything they can to get Klopp and if they don't even try, they're fools. But we don't know if Klopp is interested at this point to take over, to cut short his sabbatical. I'd argue that Klopp would prefer to take over at Liverpool at the beginning of next season, so that he can start with a few adjustments in the squad and a full pre-season. Taking over at Liverpool now midway through the first half of the season, with 2 games a week, barely any time to prepare and no slowing down in sight until after the christmas fixtures could easily turn out to be a disaster.

As crazy a character as he can be, I don't think Klopp likes to be rushed into something. So yeah, Liverpool as a project should be interesting to him, no doubt about that. But not in a 'come in during the season and save us' kind of way. I could be totally wrong of course, we'll see.
