Klopp Confirmed Liverpool Manager

These sort of lines are only really relevant when they're said with hindsight.

It's also nonsense. Benitez was a very big deal when Liverpool signed him. Finishing ahead of the big two in Spain was a more impressive achievement than beating Bayern in Germany. In terms of players, Torres was a huge coup. Which caused ridiculous levels of excitement.

I'll gladly dig up some quotes about LvG from people on here if you think it was any different back then :p That's just the way it is with football fans in general, not only at Liverpool.

Oh, absolutely. However, I'm talking about the Klopp love in from United fans! I don't recall any scousers lining up to suck off Louie.

I don't think it's necessary to hate Liverpool's new boss - what we should mostly concern ourselves about is beating his team.

On another note - and admittedly I may be terribly biased - aside from the legendary Shankly and one-offs like Istanbul, I feel that Liverpool isn't a Romantic club at all. Even when they were winning everything in sight, they often bored me in comparison with United & others; IMO, Jurgen's been carried away by the Romance of the swaying, scarf-holding Kop rather than 'the famously Romantic Liverpool'.

Klopp has been the hipsters choice for ages. There would be a similar meltdown if he went to Arsenal.

I hope he has adequate security sorted for Nov 5th (away tie in Europe) :nervous:

Hate that he's managing Liverpool.

Love that he's managing a Premier League team.

It's going to be an interesting year, that's for sure. I do wonder what difference he can make with the players he has available though. There's being a world class manager...and then there's being that turning water into wine guy. I cant see Liverpool being anything more than inconsitent. But in the long run...if he scrapes top 4, that Klopp / CL pull could atrract some talented names.

In summary, I'm a teeny tiny bit worried it.

Is it just me that is excited the he's gone there, don't know about anyone else but i long for the days when Utd and Liverpool were the top dogs in the league, feck all these oil clubs trying to buy the title. Utd and Liverpool ARE the Premier League and regardless of how much i despise them, i really want it to be us competing for the title. If LVG gets us flying and Klopp has the effect he potentially can on them, it could make for some classic matches between us. Jan 16th can't come soon enough now

I'm sure i remember someone comparing us with Bayern and them with Dortmund once like we are the English version of those teams, how weird that now our manager used to be at Bayern and theirs used to be at Dortmund.

I will quite relish the challenge to be honest. It will also increase the standards in the league as well and it will be interesting how veterans like Arsene and LVG rise up to the challenge posed by a maverick like Klopp.

He absolutely was a big deal. And Torres was a buzzer. Those two would probably be my top two before today.

They still didn't generate quite the same buzz.

edit: might also have to do with circumstances. Rafa's record may have been comparable, but he still didn't have quite the same name in Europe as Klopp - and nothing like the same charisma. And both him and torres came into more established sides going somewhere, looking for someone to take them to the extra level.

Klopp is coming into a gray sinkhole where it wasn't really clear where to go from here and has lit up the place instantly.

This is cruel. By the time he manages United, he'll have a scouse accent.

I like that PL has some of the best managers now - Klopp, LVG, Jose. Maybe a precursor to the PL teams starting to again punch at their levels (and their spending) in Europe?

Not on my part. He'd then be replacing an excellent manager.

I watched the conference and as always, he's likable and his bit about being the normal one I thought was funny. But it other than that I felt the whole thing was a bit meh. He seems super happy though to be there.

"All I heard and read and felt when I saw matches with Liverpool. I love football and the intensity of football in Liverpool is very, very good for me. I always thought about England and working here because of the style of football and Liverpool was first choice."

Unfortunately with no other options left he has to say those.Right now i don't have any hate towards this guy, lets see where this all go.
It's probably true since he said that the next club he was to manage wouldn't be one of the top clubs, no offence to Liverpool. If I wasn't a United fan I knew who I'd rather take over between Spurs and Liverpool.

I can't bring myself to hate Klopp. Sure, I hate Liverpool FC as an entity but Klopp is a genuine footballing man. He will do well there.

Let's be honest, lightning doesn't strike 7 times. Liverpool were bound to not totally feck something up at some stage. They might get better under Klopp - chances are they will - or the unexpected might happen and Klopp might have as much success as in his final year at Dortmund.

However, Klopp aside, Liverpool are not going to be the uncompetitive fringe team they've been since Benitez left for ever. At some point they will be challenging and people have to come to terms with that.

Just as others have to come to terms that United will be challenging too, for the forseable.

Can't stand the way since Mourinho declared himself 'the special one' it seems like every single new manager to the PL gets asked to provide a catchy soundbite for themselves, feck off with that shite please.

I rolled my eyes when I heard that, it's tiresome now. Just say proper questions and not fecking gimmicks for your papers. I think they asked it when AVB first came over, they'll ask Pep when he inevitably comes over too.

As a matter of interest, what do you think puts Liverpool in a better position than, say, Spurs, to challenge for the league over the next 3-4 years?

Guess you guys didn't bother to read Page 54 and my direct quotes then.

You mean the quotes where he specifically talks about working with a transfer committee?

Therefore agreeing completely with my answer to the above question you quoted 'of course he won't [have direct control on transfers] He's never had that [direct control on transfers] before and doesn't seem like he wants it.'

When Spurs beat Liverpool in the match a week on Saturday, the headline will be "Klopp Clipped"
It's going to be a tough ask for Liverpool to get anything at WHL. However Spurs will not be relishing the prospect of welcoming a newly galvanised LFC either. Surely the players will be well up for this one putting in 100% all over the pitch. Could be a good match. However even if we lose there (which would have been the bookies odds pre-Klopp) then the next 3 matches are all at home and even though Southampton are looking good, we could still see a decent return before Chelsea away (and who knows what state they will be in by that time).

That would be the one that completely disagrees with your comment.

Not a problem for ten seconds. I have the first word, I have the last word, the words in between other people can have some words. Not a genius need information to get the decisions right which other people can help.

Pisses me off but he's just so damn likeable. Whether he succeeds or not, one can help but admire his....er....philosophy.

I like...

“I believe in a philosophy that is very emotional, very fast and very strong. My teams must play at full throttle.

I think you should read again what I wrote. I'm saying literally the exact opposite of what you seem to think I am saying.

The only thing I can think is that you think him being a part of the 'transfer committee' means he does have direct control over transfers, which is a bit odd. It's exactly the same situation that Rodgers had, and he had at Dortmund. Of course he's going to have an input and they're never going to sign a player he specifically says he doesn't want to sign.

Wut? We thrashed them 0-8 combined at White Hart Lane over the last two season, 15-2 home and away.
That was with Suarez though, you're a very different outfit these days. Spurs are definitely better too.

The Klopp ass kissing from some in here is embarrassing.

Get over it.

He'll never manage United now and there are plenty of better managers. What Klopp did was impressive but by no means 'world class'. Come back when he's one won a treble or 5 leagues.

...and to the asshat saying he's better than SAF a few pages back, get a fecking grip.

In fact, all of you get a fecking grip. He's not the messiah of management and your constant fawning over him is vomit worthy.

The 0-3 last year wasn't with Suarez, it was the second or third game of the season last year iirc.

You are completely right, though.

Fair enough then. I don't think they will be quite so easy this year though. They seem to have sorted themselves out a bit more recently.
