If we sign him, Ole could play again 3-5-2 which went into the bin after the Leipzig disaster.
The joke is on you. AWB has been our undisputed RB for two years now and that won't change. Trippier will get his fair share of games but there's no doubt AWB will have more starts and by a decent margin too. This must be a joke, right?
Trip comes in and he gets a start! It's AWB that must improve to nail down the RB spot.

We need to get Laird back from loan. He seems to be over his injury problems and he will get enough games over the seasonI see it more as there is no viable alternative for AWB so there’s no choice but to start him. Williams has regressed post re-start.
The point is we don’t have a ready made RB deputy and someone like Trippier offers you experience and great delivery from RB.Hopefully this isn't true.
My Spurs following fan wanted him gone due to his lack of pace but I always thought Trips was a good player.
However, at 30 years of age, what's the point? He'll be in decline very soon. Surely its better to invest in the future?
Plus AWB is fine there. Trips might be better player but he's also much older.
Hopefully this isn't true.

Think the idea is to have Trippier as option for next 2-3 years, while AWB develops further more. AWB is still only 23 (24 in November), so buying someone younger would make less sense imo than buying 28-30 years old player, like Trippier or Telles last summer as back up to Shaw.Hopefully this isn't true.

I am still a little bit bemused at people unable to comprehend that he’s coming in to be backup, if he ends up as our main RB it’s because he’s earned it.
Yep. This was extremely noticeable in the champions League and Vs city, Liverpool etc - they simply let AWB have the ball and back off, knowing we have absolutely ZERO threat down the right, and instead double up on whoever is in the middle for us, Bruno and Rashford.Trippier can deliver a ball from the right side. He's far better going forward and would change how teams set up against us in the final third.
There's a reason why clubs prefer to just give AWB the ball and defend from there.
Pretty sure only Ole knows if he wants him as a backup or a starter.
He would cost a lot more. What about Max Aarons from norwich

Yeah. Maybe fairer to say he will be competition for AWB and when it comes to the crunch, probably AWB will be preferred for big games. If Trippier can push hard enough to get 25 starts that will be great - two good options and hopefully fresh at RB all season. You have to be trippin if you think a 30 year old for 15m is gonna be the main RB choice over a 23 year old signed for 50m
AWB been better offensivly recently, and with Sancho on the RW that will help with that as well.
I can see Trippier start against the relegation type teams (and early cup rounds) where we’ll have most of the possesion, but against any team with an good attacking threat AWB will be no1.
As backup goes he is one of the best though.
I think it does a huge disservice to someone who has just won La Liga and is a full England international to resign him to relegation fodder. He’ll be a genuine potential starter for next season in more matches then I think most fans would suspect. You have to be trippin if you think a 30 year old for 15m is gonna be the main RB choice over a 23 year old signed for 50m

We’ve been trying to fix right back since Rafael was weirdly kicked out for no reason. Darmian, Dalot and Wan Bissaka have all come in and none have really convinced anyone, hence Young and Valencia remaining around into their mid-30s. If we do decide to fix it yet again, I’d rather we sorted it properly rather than putting a plaster on it for a year or two.
£20mHow much did Atletico sign Trippier for from Spurs?

Because it implies Atletico have any interest in a 22 year old fullback who made 10 league starts this season. Why haven't Utd offered Dalot in this deal? I think both clubs could benefit.
This is my view of it. I would welcome the move but not sure why Trippier would want to unless he misses England that much over winning things and being a starter in Spain.I get why United would want him and it would be awesome for a club to have two solid RB’s to choose from, but I’m puzzled as to why Trippier would want the move. Why leave a big club (a title winning club) where you’re a nailed on starter and therefor are in the England squad to rotate with another great RB at United? He’d basically be cutting his minutes in half.
£20m

I doubt we'd double his salary or anything. Considering we don't raise salaries for players over 30.
I agree, although I can only see us signing sancho with either a CB or CDM unless we sell players, I think the only way we sign all 4 of our targets and solve our problem positions is if we sell a few players first. In that case, I’d have thought Atletico will want a profit on what they paid for him considering the price always does increase whenever we are interested in a player. Having said that, if that rumoured £15M-£20M is what will get this deal done then that’s an absolute bargain in today’s market and we should try to get this done.
Sancho & Trippier is a great start to the window. Get a CB & DM as well and it’ll be a very good window.
