Of course things change, but this is the least likely transfer to happen. His attitude is he loves the club and already has a contract that makes him a multi millionaire. He’ll leave next summer IMO.
Even if Real Madrid come in for him. He’s committed to Celtic the same way Paolo Maldini was to AC Milan only the fans love him even more.
You forgot that Marcos Alonso was about as good as Darmian in the Serie A and went to be the best left back in the EPL.
Maicon was already past it when he joined City and Kolarov played 165 games for City. Not bad.
I don't get this mate. I'm not doubting you or your source but if he's so attached to Celtic why would he leave next year? And if he can leave next year then why not now?? It can't be a question of hindering his development as surely he'd play a fair amount of games for us.

The thinking at Celtic is next years league is the most difficult. If they win it, the threat the following year would be smaller (Gerrard gone, no CL money for rangers etc) so the feeing is they get 8 in a row the 9th and 10th will be easier.
As of right now, there’s a verbal agreement that he’ll be given the captaincy next season, but I’m basing my opinion on my sources opinion, and he thinks he might go next summer.

I don’t think so either but that’s the mood they are creating at Celtic so they don’t get complacent. Obviously that’ll change if they see the signings Gerrard makes are poorer than anticipated by a lot of people.

Celtic would turn that down, because they know his price is only going to stay the same or go up. Celtic don’t need that cash to compet in the league.
Having said that, you can never be sure with the Celtic board. They have told him he will not be sold, though.
There was a media report 10 days ago that Atletico Madrid was interested and Celtic would demand 30m pound transfer fee. Probably the Sun just making stuff up, but considering Robertson's success at Pool, I don't think making a 30m offer should be dismissed out of hand.

It’s like people can’t comprehend that a player might actually just be following his dreams and happy to live them out for a little longer.

The backlash on the board would be intense. He would say he doesn’t want to go, but ultimately the Celtic board will decide. They’d give 5million of that to Brendan Rodgers and pocket the rest of the transfer fee, and obviously that’s a pretty appealing pay day. But the amount of stick they would get wouldn’t be worth it, especially when they don’t need that money in order to operate. It’s expected that he’ll move on one day and his value with only rise from here, so the board really don’t need to act on this if an offer comes in. I commented recently about Everton representatives being in touch about him, now you can imagine they wouldnt offering 10-15 million when Celtic know replacing leighton baines is a long term priority, so tierney would be worth at least 30m to them (and Everton could afford it). The representatives were told “not for sale” at the first point of contact, and tierney had zero interest in hearing anything else about it.

Absolutely, it’ll be directed at the board though and tierney would emerge unscathed as far as his relationship with the fans goes.
I don’t think they’ll accept it. He won’t get worse and I don’t see the World Cup being a tournament of left backs so he’ll still command a large fee whenever he goes, as it’s a position a lot of teams need to get right and if he fulfils his potential, he’s easily a top 6 left back. Another reason he might stay though is as I’ve mentioned before, there’s a plan to move him to centre mid eventually.

Well, it is the plan unless he’s being lied to. But I think he’ll have moved on by the time Celtic would be ready to give him a chance in there anyway, and when he moves it’ll be as a left back.

Your posts here remind me of some Everton supporter on the now defunct 606 footie forum on the Beeb before Rooney signed for United. I see Tierney leaving under the right conditions. Every player has a price and most young players wouldn't turn down the chance to play for a bigger club no matter how endeared to their current club they are.
The Problem we face is Mourinho when it comes to these type of signings. His tactics need players with very high work rate in full back and wings positions. Flair players with lesser work rate has always struggled to impress Mourinho. Even at Madrid many times he went with more defensive Contrao then Marcelo. At Chelsea during his second stint felipe Luis was regularly benched after being bought and then sold back to Atletico where he is doing fine again. Baba Rehman din't make the cut either. Problems with Hazard are well known. Shaw is struggling to get game time under him as well and so is Martial in and out of the team and benched when Sanchez arrives. I don't see Kieran and Mourinho a good fit unfortunately, and it will be the same like Shaw situation here. Although Shaw does not live that that cleanly off the pitch but he still could be given some chances to improve but one mistake and he's benched and a Workhorse young could make many mistakes yet he keeps on playing.
A good physique and a good engine are a traits of Mourinho's full backs and i don't feel Kieran will be a Mourinho favourite same as Luke Shaw as these young players don't have the engine like Ashley cole or Miacon or Valencia to run up and down for 90 mins. Sandro suits Mourinho better than Kieran.
We seem to forget that its not Fergie who's incharge anymore, while we don't keep a director of football to Continue with clubs traditions in the market. Our team is a reflection of managers way and Mourinho way would suit Sandro better than Kieran.
Yeah I’ve heard but come on that’s not going to happen. Common sense will prevail and think it’s a bit of a boost for the other left back coming through who’s meant to be another excellent prospect. That Brendan can push Tierney inside to play both.

I think it’s about time stuff like this was pulled apart.
What’s wrong with a manager wanting players who will work hard enough? Who plays in the City or Liverpool teams who don’t work hard enough to make the system successful?

He looks a good young full back. Robertson has done great at Liverpool, coming down from Scotland, and Tierney looks more than a match for him. We definitely need a proper left back.
Robertson went to Hull first and many sniggered at Liverpool for signing him. I said at the time that he reminded me of a young denis Irwin. But i do think he needed that time at Hull to get used to the league
There's a teeny weeny difference between the best team in the 80s-90s and Celtic.
In football you never know what's around the corner and tomorrow is promised to no one. You say he'll retain his value, but all it takes is mis-timed tackle and a bad injury and it's gone.
A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush, and I know what the Celtic boards have been like historically from the era of the "biscuit tin" onwards. If the number is big enough, they'll take it
I have never seen him play, but I think the jump from Scotland to England may be too high, the leagues are far away in speed, strength and ability level. He may be a young prospect with a great future but we desperately need fullbacks that immediately make an impact, I’m not against signing him but as long as he does not affect us signing another left back.

And that will turn to 20 and 30 in a row. Celtic are too far ahead money wise for Rangers to catch them. It's not that it's a tin pot trophy. It's that winning it as a Celtic player means absolutely nothing. How the fans can get giddy of winning it without competition is beyond me.

There can't be any substance to that. Medium to long term you're talking about the manager after Rodgers who will have their own position on where players should play. To be fair, I can see why it might be said now, young kids in the game would lap it up.
Would you say there’s a difference between how much it means to them to live out their dream?
