Kieran McKenna | Close to signing long term deal to stay at Ipswich

Big mistake by him. Should have hung around so he can see what modern methods are all about on the training ground.

Ipswich have got a lovely badge haven’t they?

I remember having a shiny silver version of it in an old Panini sticker book…

It kinda looks like some kind of cool, medieval knight’s coat of arms or something.

Hope he does really well. Rooting for him.

Listened to that whole presser. Comes across really well. Has great affinity for United, supported the club as a boy. Talked about the coaches he's worked with and managers he worked under, full of praise for them. Been coaching now for 13 years and said he'd probably had taken this chance had Ole still been manager at United.

Talks about having a very clear identity and principles, wants to dominate games, play in the opposition's half and win the ball back as high up the pitch as possible.

Wish him well.

Ipswich fans on social media seem to really like him. Who’d have thought he might actually turn out to be a good coach and people on the internet who don’t see anything don’t actually know what they’re talking about..

Hope he does well. The amount of disrespect he got for no reason from some of our so called expert in football fans was disgusting.

Frustrated idiots looking to lash out anywhere they can. Clearly was a very highly regarded coach and I’m sure we will miss him. Our terrible owners repeatedly stocked this squad with lots of dross and a few very good but wildly overpaid and overindulged players and an inexperienced manager. A recipe for disaster no matter who is coaching or even managing. You have win despite the glazers influence. Almost impossible it seems.

Anyone who watched our youngsters play while he was incharge could see that he had the potential to be a good manager one day, I really hope the good run keep going for him at Bielsa' s favorite club.

The CAFs favourite whipping boy actually knows more about coaching than a CAF keyboard warrior? Who knew?

He was always extremely highly rated which is why we poached him from Spurs in the first place.
When he was in charge of the youngsters he had them playing brilliant football.

I think Ole was just a more pragmatic manager very similar to Jose in preferring to sit back and counter. McKenna will have been coaching our first team as he was instructed to by the manager.

Hardly a surprise - he’s on a Rodgers-like trajectory. Very highly rated at Spurs, poached by Manchester United, was brilliant as U18s coach, impressed Jose and was made head first team coach, when Jose was sacked ran the training for a hands-off manager at the biggest club around with the team coming 3rd then 2nd in the hardest league in the world. All at the age of 35. His CV is shit though and he’s unqualified according to half the toxic know-nothing, Goldbridge wannabe feck nuggets on here.

That's some good football there. Maybe he was the chosen one all along? Eyes sly like demon.

Saw lof of praise for him on Twitter, off the ball movement, one touch passing and pressing was all good itseems. Still early days, looks promising.

Hopefully he will be a huge success and gets promoted this season.

Gone in there and apparently told number 8’s they have a future as a 6. :smirk:

Well done to him! Seems a nice chap and clearly knows his stuff.

That's the face of a man who knows he was right
You lost me. Right to get sacked by United? Right to make this guy McKenna (who may now be getting the experience he needs to become a premier league standard coach but certainly was not) the main United first team coach and let the typical disorganised chaos unfold on match days. And to oversee zero progress and development in many of our younger players and signings. That guy...? Are you a United fan or a WUM, or just an Ole fan boy?

Fantastic. Hope he carries on building his reputation and it leads to bigger jobs.
Exactly this, as it should be. Do well there for a season and he should have Championship clubs looking at him even if they don't go up.

He’s certainly made a good start, it’s going to be difficult to make the playoffs. The usual stat thrown about is you’d be very unlikely to get in with 65 points, and very unlikely not to get in with 75. So we’re probably looking to get 8 more wins from our 13 games. He’s built up enough good will that even if we don’t make it I think he’ll be backed by both the owners and the fans next season. Our style of football is very very different, and in a positive way.
