Music Kendrick Lamar

Imagine thinking you’re superior because you identified a beat was simple and not everything on it is super complex. Nobody is saying it’s a masterpiece. It just hit the right spot in the diss and became incredibly popular for good reason. It has loads of catchy quotable parts and did the job it was supposed to do.

None of what I said is subjective. Especially the production part. It’s a really simple beat with a sample from a Monk Higgins track just repeated over it for the duration. The processing on the vocal is almost none existent. Genuinely thought it was done in an amateur fashion on purpose when it first released just because it was done quickly as a Drake diss but it appears maybe not?

Don’t make me go through the crappy lyrics that are really easy to write for such an unimaginative flow.

Buncha swifty types in here. Whether you like it or not is the only subjective thing here. I don’t because I like good music.
PARK LIFE

Please do, it would be amazing if caf thread resulted in a birth of a great artist.
i’ve started out by sexually assaulting minors, just waiting for the hip hop skills to come in any day now.

It's a hit piece, it was never intended to be a masterpiece. Just a good track to take the piss.

Just curious and not intended to cause offence: do you make your own music or have experience of previously making your own music?

You're overthinking this man

Ether has a god awful beat (I hope Ron Browz stubs his toe every day for the rest of his life) and a bunch of lines that aren't accurate/didn't age well, and it's far from Nas' best work. But it did the job as a diss track. Very well. Can do the same breakdown for No Vaseline.

The best ("objectively" in terms of beat, lyrics, precision) is Jay-Z's Takeover. But he lost, so there's that. Or maybe Common's diss at Ice Cube. That one ended in a stalemate.

There's a lot of reaching on NLU but it did it's job, superbly well. Does it matter that the colonizer line doesn't make any sense? It doesn't have to. Personally I enjoy Euphoria more, but that wasn't a kill shot.

It's a diss track when both parties were going back and forth at a pace. It shouldn't be mixed and mastered properly, and it is a diss track, it did its job perfectly, it's not like we are talking about a deep album cut that is being overrated for some reason, it captures a very specific moment in time and decapitates the one person we all wanted to see it done too. It did exactly what it was supposed to.
I agree on that just because of how big it’s become and that one line.

My bad, didn’t realise we aren’t allowed to criticise anything in this thread then respond to any quips from Lamaris.

Genuinely not far off the quality of writing.

Anyway, nice to see it’s sparked some chat from a few people who actually know something about music. Superior beings, as I like to call em.

The fact that that’s what you took from that says it all  literally nobody said you can’t criticise it. You’ve made that up.

It’s your tone. It’s fine to not like it but stating that you don’t because “I like good music” is a bit pathetic. Or wummy. Seems like the latter.

Was a response to the quips and that was a joke. You don’t need to be this rattled over it.

Responding to stuff doesn’t always make someone rattled. That’s such a basic word to use. So simplistic. A better person would’ve said exasperated.

Euphoria was better than Not Like Us but, Not Like Us was so damn catchy. Either way, it won the battle.

Drake's family ties was good too which has been lost in the beatdown he got

Since you're talking about your opinion on a piece of music; yeah, it is subjective.
Objectively incorrect. Wasn’t an opinion. Was fachts. It’s factually a poor quality track. But it did diss Drake, so there is that.

he's saying Drake steals from black culture

hyperbolic but it's in a dis track

Eminem was smart in that he never feuded with a rapper who could hand his ass to him

do any exist?

Meet the Grahams was easily the most savage track. Tbh, I thought Kendrick took it a bit too far by wishing him dead. And that too while speaking to Drake's mother.
