Kelly Cates, Mark Chapman and Gabby Logan announced as new MOTD presenters

Peter crouch

could actually do a good job, i think. would draw the youtube type audience and freshen it up with a bit pf polishing.

Chapman is the obvious candidate in terms of being the motd2 host, at the bbc a while, and 'next in line.' Would be a little more of the same, but if the BBC wanted to get creative, Crouch would be an interesting choice

Dion Dublin too I think would be good as a host.

As long as he doesn't express any of his own opinions.

Yeah exactly, I mean he's the obvious stand out candidate, he's done a superb job on MOTD2 - if you're talking about the best candidate, it's clearly him. Politics might be the wrong term but surely it's his to turn down unless they want to make a certain statement with the appointment.
Agree with your positive comments on him. But I don't think he stands alone ahead of other possible candidates on other broadcasters. There are others with similar or greater experience who know the game well and can strike the right tone in presentation and rapport that Lineker and Lynam mastered over the years. There are also a few names who have been suggested who don't have that knowledge and ability. So I think it depends on the outcome.

Dion Dublin can simultaneously host MOTD and Homes Under the Hammer.
" This leaking roof should really be a priority for the new home owners. Now, talking about leaking roofs lets join Guy Mowbray at OT".

Left field maybe, but Clare Balding would be good. Excellent sports presenter. You need someone to read links and say "A good result for Brighton, after they took an early lead, Alan" it isn't rocket science.

Anyone associated in any way with Football Focus these last few years should be ruled out. That programme is awful. Makes latter years Soccer AM look Oscar worthy.

She's well known, she's high profile, she will bring a gravitas to the show.

Please no, not Clare Balding.

She on bloody everything.

If he's not busy picking up the pieces of some shite Championship side, how's about Neil Warnock? Would get loads of folks tuning into to see what humorous bollocks he spouts.

The only man for the job. Has a background in sports reporting, a BBC veteran of 30+ years, at home on live broadcasts, no skeletons in his closet*

Genuinely thought Huw Edwards was about to pop up.

New Match of the Day presenters announced

Kelly Cates, Mark Chapman and Gabby Logan will be the new Match of the Day presenters from next season, the BBC has announced.

It is the first time the role will be shared between three people.

They will split presenting duties for Match of the Day 2 on Sundays and MOTD: Champions League on Wednesdays, as well as Saturday's flagship show.

Hopefully they can get someone a bit more impartial than the likes of Ian Wright, Alan Shearer, and Micah Richards to be the pundits now

Honestly don't know enough about Cates to comment, but Chapman and Logan are great. Thank god Jenas self destructed.

I don't mind Micah Richards, you don't watch MOTD for in depth tactical analysis in the 2 minutes they give to each match.

Can't beat the Linekar, Wrighty and Shearer combo. No footballers presenting a football show, seems pretty crap to me.

I don't know that much about her, but she usually does one of the BBC Daily Football podcasts every week and is great on it - quite sharp, funny, and decent analysis when needed (though the format doesn't really allow for much of it).

As for Richards, if I could go the rest of my life without ever having to see him do any media, I'd be happy.

I’m happy with that. All 3 are better than some of the options being mentioned.

As for pundits, they should try and get Liam Rosenior on board. I thought he was excellent during that short stint he did for Sky.

Once he’s in they can push Danny Murphy off something high.

Liam Rosenior is probably going to try and continue as a head coach, as he should, but one of those presenters with him and Nedum Onouha as the pundits would be a dream.

He is currently managing Strasbourg.

Logan is good

Chapman is a wombling baffoon who tries to hard to be one of the lads.

Only recently seen Cates, but seems to be everywhere at the moment.

Ah fair enough. Good luck to him - he definitely comes across as a smart football man and a good communicator.

Not fussed on Gabby Logan but I like Kelly Cates, hopefully she’s staying at sky as well.

Onuoha is my favourite pundit out there. I only ever catch him now and again when he's on a BBC podcast (which seems to be less and less frequent), but he's genuinely great.

He's very very good. Crazy how he's not really promoted enough.
