Keir Starmer Labour Leader

Sigh. Yes, if only Starmer could learn some lessons about clarity of messaging from one of the best at it. Not the same as agreeing with or adopting her politics at all.

But I concede asking you lot to learn anything from anyone who's not been dead for 80 years is an ask.
There's plenty to be learnt from lots of people, I'd rather we left cnuts like Thatcher consigned to the dust bin of history or whatever ring of hell she currently calls home.

It's actually good of Labour to get rid of that terrible "free Palestine" stuff. It's not a new thing, it's a problem many have tried to solve and failed.
It is a shame that it has been such a prominent trait of Labour under Corbyn.

He's a former republican and hater of archaic titles, who bowed and scraped in front of the jug-eared nonce befriender for a knighthood.

Got as much chance of getting him to feel the elation of winning the Balon D'or as shame.

He's a former republican who now goes by Sir? Fecking hell

Fatality!

Looking at the house price increases since then. How much money do you think Thatcher has lost the country in housing assets with this irresponsible policy?
Different debate. I personally think Labour should do something like, commit to a gigantic housebuilding programme, go vertical in London and major cities etc, restrict foreign ownership of housing, improve the quality of the current housing stock with climate goals in mind, and massively increase both private and council housing provision. I think that could tell a big story about Labour's priorities and ambition (as Council house privatisation did for Thatcher) - go really big on that one thing, which is at the root of so many problems in the UK.

Yikes.

Very relevant to the debate actually. Seeing as you are resurrecting Thatcher as some kind of deity that Starmer could aspire to.

Have a think about the question again?

Are you mad? "Deity"? I can see this is a fruitless discussion, unsurprisingly.

No it's not.

FREE PALESTINE

These are all pretty good points other than increasing private housing stock.

LABOUR: WE'VE TRIED ENOUGH TIMES DAMMIT.

Pressure grows on Starmer to back tax on rich to pay for social care
Party and union figures urge new policy as Manchester mayor Andy Burnham tells Labour leader: taxing wealth is the fairest way

Tough one for Starmer, tax the rich who he is trying to attract as Parry donors now he is losing membership, or tax the workers who his party is supposed to represent.

Or just don't have a policy and neither please nor upset anyone and fade further into obscurity.

Starmer is so fecking pathetic.

Imagine being the opposition to this current Tory party, during this current term - and managing to NOT defeat them by a landslide…

Then imagine the same, yet managing to continue to lose to them.

It’s almost impressive.

What a fecking utter waste of space he is.

As a long time Labour voter, I have mixed feelings about Starmer.
But the simple fact is that there is zero appetite in the country for politics in general.
Furthermore, Starmer has not had any real opportunity to get his policies over.

What is going to be interesting is how he performs at the forthcoming party conference.
For an opposition leader, it is all about building a platform. First with your own and then with the country.
Despite his inherent lack of charisma and personality, I still think that he is right by 'playing the long game'. He is watching as the Tories make mistake after mistake. And seeing the in-fighting play out.

instead of amplifying each tory mistake, starmer and his cronies are bringing attention to their own dimwittery. all boris has had to do is point and laugh and his cult have lapped it up.

Labour opposes Boris Johnson's plan for National Insurance hike to fund social care
Keir Starmer told the Mirror the PM's controversial bid for an NI increase would hit young people, businesses and low earners

Classic Starmer. When he does oppose he offers no alternative solution, no ideas. Just vague soundbites as I see it.

#priorities

Well given she's a Labour MP and Corbyn Isn't then yeah I would expect her to support a Labour candidate against him...

Isn't there rule that any labour member who votes against the party can be expelled as well - will be interesting to see how thats implemented in the next Islington North MP election - though Corbyn might well just stand down I think given his age and the very realistic chance he looses

Absolutely. Also impose heavy taxes on houses currently owned by foreign nationals who do not reside in the UK. All that dodgy money pumped into UK real estate needs to be exposed and squeezed out.

I don't know how people get by on minimum wage. I reckon for just food, clothes, energy, council tax, internet, TV licence - for a family of 4, you've got to be spending ~£800 a month? Chuck rent onto that and even in the midlands you're looking at £1300 a month. That doesn't include mobiles, commuting/travelling, clubs, entertainment or any unforseen expenditure. Minimum wage is like £1400 a month?

He is out of his depth...Lisa Nandy is fecking shit too.

If you look at it objectively what’s he supposed to say? He’s not going to win an election telling the majority of the electorate that he’s coming after their wealth.
