Roy sheds some light on the feud between the to players that has seen Keano leave the pitch early twice.

More from the book. This time on the incident with then Sheep now siddy
player Haaland.

"Five minutes from time, I lunged at him in desperation," says Keane in his
book.

"I knew it would mean a booking but **** it. As I slid in, my studs caught the
turf and I heard my cruciate ligament snap."

"Some three years on, I still hadn't forgotten him," he writes. "Now it was Man
City at home, his new club, fighting relegation.

"I waited until five minutes from the end. I ****ing hit him hard. I think the ball was there. 'Take that, you ****'. I didn't even wait for the ref to show the red
card. I turned and walked toward the dressing room."

Not a happy episode all round really.
I don't think Keane would be proud of it and I'm not going to join the chorus of Keano supporters on this occasion, for once!

Yeah you gotta love the fact he had to serve another suspension for a stupid lack of control in the last 5 minutes of a game. Like the Shearer thing, he gets another ban at a time when the team needed him on the pitch.

I find it quite disturbing in all honesty, there's obviously issues 'upstairs' with our Roy

Still, that's Keano.

The fact that Haaland and Weatherall both stood above Keane as he lay, in obvious agony and unable to respond, mouthing abuse at him. Haaland subsequently went on his website laughing about Keane's injury and has also posed in front a Munich '58 grafitti. This, for no other reason, justifies Keane's reaction.

Revenge!
Håland did tackle Keano to kingdom come...

Haaland will have a case if he's following up with a law-suit, as Keano has given him the opportunity now. Haaland has hardly played any football since then.

I won't argue with that, but that's never stopped anyone from playing for Siddy before...

It's also because he's been injured though

Haaland has not played due to an entirely unrelated injury. Nothing to do with Keanes tackle at all

Look forward to a Haaland recovery so i can see a Keane versus Haaland match derby.

Its heart breaking to be out with an injury, so I cant condone doing it to someone else, I would never want to inflict an injury like that on someone.

Then again if someone had purposely caused my injury I would probably want to break their legs too.

Being sued/fined isnt a problem, but I dont think the FA will be happy about this (suspension?) and it doesnt exactly do wonders for our reputation as a club. These guys ARE role models you know.

Suspend my arse.

What they gonna do go back and suspend Souness etc.

Dont talk daft.

it was keane's own fault he got injured in the first place...maybe if he wasn't hungover, he wouldn't fecked up his knee going in on haaland.

Come on mate, everyone's got a right to an opinion. Besides, you ever get your knee ligaments fecked up? Since Keano knew what it was like, he shouldn't have tried to do it.

I would have kicked Haaland in the head. Its only a yellow card for a high boot. Plus, Haaland don't need a brain to play.

If someone had just tried to break your leg, not succeeded, and injured themselves in the process, I think laughing at them is justified. It's called getting what you deserve.
He(haaland) was doing a documentry and was filmed walking past maine rd, which had the graffiti on the wall, hardly a reflection on his own views.
Just because keane is a good footballer doesn't stop him being a twat.

Why are a lot of people surprised at what Keane wrote in his book regarding Haaland?

You all know how Keane slags his teammates in public and blames all and sundry for anything that goes wrong.

So when he made a hash of tackling Haaland and injured his cruciate, it wouldn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that he would naturally blame Haaland.

Keane is right to blame Haaland for his injury and he is right to try to get his "revenge". Everyone from The Sun to SkySports knows that.

I think Keane left put this part of the book in after the Shearer incident and didn't bother to take it out after he decided not to retire.

Players should be banned from printing autobiographies before their careers are over.

The push factor for the authors in increasing their sales is to put in controversial stuff and usually that means problems for the player and club.

" I waited until five minutes from the end. I ****ing hit him hard. I think the ball was there. 'Take that, you ****'. I didn't even wait for the ref to show the red "

And most of you are laughing at it? I really can't get you. Keane says he just waited until 5 minutes were left and then decided to try and hurt Håland and all that because Keane had made an ugly tackle and got himself injured a couple of years earlier. I don't think it's too smart to write in an a autobiographie that he had planned the tackle and did it on purpose. F*cking disgrace.

I think Håland is going to sue him and he really has got a strong case here. Doesn't matter if the tackle didn't end his career as it was a really bad tackle which he planned in advance.

Doesn't look good for our Roy.... Haaland would surely win any legal battle, and it's looking increasingly likely action is forthcoming. Sometimes I wish he'd bite his tongue, but I guess that's just him all over.

This from Planetfootball...

keane_snarl.jpg

ALF INGE HAALAND is fuming after Roy Keane's comments in his autobiography regarding the reckless challenge on the Manchester City man in 2001. Manchester United skipper Keane admitted planning revenge on the Norwegian after he suffered cruciate knee ligament damage when trying to foul his adversary in his Leeds United days. The News of the World published extracts from Keane's book, which suggested the Republic of Ireland midfielder deliberately plotted to injure Haaland. With doubts over his ability to overcome his injury problems, the 29-year-old is having a scan on the same knee on Monday. "I will go in and see if I can find any of Keane's studs inside there," he told VG. "I have only played a few games after the tackle. You can make your mind up yourself. Am I going to sue? Those are your words. You can make your own mind up." The dejected Maine Road utility man would clearly have a strong case if he decided to attempt to take Keane to court.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

IMO: Players should never write a book until well after their careers are over. It's naive to think the book will not cause problems regardless, but at least then you won't have a chance of getting fired. I know Roy has a right to speak his mind, but whatever he says can not be taken back, and he will deffo regret this later. I hope things work out for him. I still admire and respect him, I just wonder what message this sends out to those who consider him a role-model. But we'll love you forever, Keano !

Well I wondered what it was he said to Haaland when he stood over him, and now we know.

"And don't ever stand over me again sneering about fake injuries, and tell your pal (David) Wetherall there's some for him as well."

But if this puts him out of the team for a spell (jeopardising the team) - then you've got to question his judgement.

To let it happen once was is excusable, to let it happen twice isn't. He's now subject to an FA investigation, and possible civil action by Haaland. Personally I think its stupid, because he's already been punished for it, he was sent off. Whats the difference between this and someone headbutting someone and being sent off for that? Both are clearly trying to hurt the opponent, are violent, and red card offenses. That should be the end of it. However admitting it seems to be a second offense, which is crazy. Any one who saw that tackle could see it wasn't a fair tackle, and was a sending off offense - so why should admitting that be so controversial and bring the game into disrepute? You'd have to charge everyone who's sent off, and all those who have been injured could sue. Should Keano sue Haaland for his cruciate injury??

What's done is done. There's no place to suspend a player for a foul from 16 months ago or it'll never end.

Unfortunately I think Keane is unprecendented in admitting that his stated intention was to injure Haalnad. That's perhaps why this could drag on. Frankly, Keane is opening his mouth too much - he'll pay for it sooner or later and if he does then so will United. Deliberately going out to injure someone is nothing short of callous not to say unprofessional - the FA have every justification for at least charging him with bringing the game into disepute.
