Kasper Dolberg

3000% pay hike?
His choice will be about his career and his career earnings, it's often the kids from deprived neighbourhoods with large poor families that will be tempted by short term money. Little chance with Dolberg.

This 'let's just buy ....' attitude really bothers me. It's lazy, arrogant and decadent. That's not the way to restore United to it's former glory. Expensive or inexpensive players, you've got to get the most out of the players you have and you've got be the best choice for the sensible level headed young talented players.

You're too sensible for the muppet crowd on this forum. If it can be bought and owned, it must be bought and owned.

Why would WE want to do that?
Because we're modest and exist to serve the Glazers and Mourinhos of this world. Also it would be immoral to deny such a talented centre forward the opportunity to play with his back to his own goal hoofing the ball away for the mighty feet of teams like Celta de Vigo.

And waisted.

He would however fit into a Mourinho style of striker looking on his previous teams. He's good at holding the ball, he's a team player and he can close down the ball from opponents defence.

Feck knows how the Danes produce so many good players.

They are only about 500k people more than us, and still we just produce duds up here.

Does this financial independence explain how Laudrup is managing in Qatar now and got investigated for making money by routing transfer deals with his agent?

Could be worse, you could be the biggest and most populated Scandinavian country and still pick Sebastian Larsson to you NT.

So "many good" players, but our national team coach, Åge Hareide, can't figure out how to play them, thanks Norway ;)
A combination with Dolberg on the top, Nicolai Jorgensen (Feyenoord) on the left, Eriksen center and Sisto (Celta Vigo) right, I think would be a great choice.

On the other side, I'm really happy with Dolbergs performance this season. Nice to see how he has developed since playing with and against him U15 in Denmark - not fun to be a defender that time. :P

Has struggled a lot this season and lost his place to Huntelaar, scored two goals in the biggest match of the year as a sub.

On his day this guy is just so clever and deadly for such a young striker, just look at the run he makes and the moment he starts accelerating as Neres goes wide, very tidy finish too.
The Feyenoord defence was shambles for his second goal, but such a good first touch to get the ball into the correct direction and good speed, whilst finishing it very confidently. Hope he regains some form and confidence.

That second goal is not bad

Feyenoord were shite this match, in part because we have 4 injured CB's, yes 4. Nice finishes by Dolberg though.

Not to be disrespectful, but any halfway decent striker can and likely would exploit these enormous gaps in the opponents defence. Also his decision making looked pretty terrible at 6:12.
The fact that Jan Klaas "past it since 2-3 years" Huntelaar took his spot is also not a good sign for him (or Dutch football for that matter).

Feel that's kinda harsh.

I know you've admitted you were a tad harsh - but seriously mate....he is 19.

Being 19 and leading an Ajax attack is an achievement in it self. Getting experience from older strikers with consistency only shows, that the club believes in him.

I just commented on what I saw in the video. I'm in no way saying that I'm familiar enough with his performances to speak about him in general or assess his potential.
I stand by those two things though: at 6:12 he has two to three great and relatively simple passing options and decides he'd rather take a risky dribbling and Huntelaar is (at least in his later Bundesliga days) a classical no9 (in the negative sense) whose legs are gone.

his decision making is usually unbelievable. I've said this before but he's the one player at Ajax that I have full faith will do something at least decent to good with every ball he gets. that moment wasn't great though it's a little misleading in the highlights because you don't see that he's literally just gone round that defender behind him, which might explain the lapse in awareness a bit

What kind of player is he?
From the very few things I saw, he seems to be a good finisher/scorer, but lacks in other departments.

most allround young striker I've ever seen tbh. He's the best striker in my time watching Ajax (so since early 2000s) at playing with his back to the goal. He's quite strong, surprisingly quick, but his main strengths are his first touch and close control, his ability to turn on defenders with his first touch despite his 'size', and on top of that as you said he's unbelievably cool in front of goal. has a bullet of a right foot and has even scored goals with headers off the back of his head. Honestly he has no flaws, football-technically or in his football intelligence, which is why I'm so excited about him, but his attitude during a match needs work. He lacks what makes Suarez, for example, so good. That mentality to do everything to pull a match to him isn't there. He's . quiet and calm character, which might explain why he's so cool facing a keeper, but also means he goes missing if the team isn't getting to him properly

For me this is still the ultimate compilation that shows most of his best assets

That's just clips of his first professional season, aged 18-19, and then that compilation is still missing the last 2 months of last season, so things like his goals in each leg vs Lyon.

Yeah Huntelaar starting over him isn't a good sign in itself, but he has been out of form a bit at the start of this season, and Huntelaar is a safe option for the new manager, who's been facing so much pressure himself after a terrible start to the season, because Ajax fans and Dutch press are less inclined to criticise Huntelaar because of who he is, and so also won't criticise the coach for starting him over Dolberg if things aren't going well. And Dolberg gets a bit of a break from the pressure if that might help him

I would buy him from Ajax for a cheap price and let them have old Huntelaar. We should then loan him out to a PL club and see how he does. I personally think he is a great talent and wouldnt mind him here with Lukaku.

Off topic, i cant watch many Ajax games here in my country, some of you could tell me how is David Neres doing there?

think the start of this season shows that he shouldn't take a step up yet. he needs to be able to perform even when the team isn't running smoothly or when things aren't going his way like in the EL final. Also depends what you mean by 'cheap'; Ajax reportedly turned down a €50m offer from Monaco in the last week of the window.

Also quickly to add slightly more to my last comment; I said 'no football-technical flaws', but I should actually say that I find him a bit too one-footed. I can't imagine he isn't very capable with his left foot too, but he does everything with his right, which can get him into trouble sometimes when he predictably turns open to the right because that.

Also as youtube compilations can be seen as a bit misleading, here's his personal highlights of his best match in our shirt, at home vs Celta last season. Was probably the best first half performance I've seen in my whole life as an Ajax supporter, from any player

You happen to mention my second favourite player in our squad. Since he joined us in January he's got a lot of flack from the press, our fans, and rival fans, because he's a very expensive young Brazilian who wasn't playing much. From day one I've seen something special in him and have been pushing for him and raving about his potential on other websites(probably annoyingly so).

Up until this match against Feyenoord he had a record of scoring in every league match he had started in (6 in a row). Now our manager has finally given in to his natural talent and started him 3 matches in a row, resulting in 2 decisive goals vs Heerenveen, an assist and great goal vs Sparta, and then a hattrick of assists for our first three goals against Feyenoord on sunday. So opinion on him has predictably shifted very quickly, but this also means he will be likely to start a lot more from now on.

The great thing about following him, if you wanted to, is that Brazilians seem to love following their young players overseas, so for every match of his you can find a youtube highlights all his touches the next day. His best matches have probably been last season vs Go Ahead Eagles, once he found some confidence about 30 minutes in:... never mind, as I type this I've found out that that one video has been taken down so don't have a video of his best performance.

at 0:59 here you can see his nice assist anyway

and here's his performance against Sparta last week

as you can see his play is far from perfect. he messes up simple passes and takes poor decisions, but he's actually so incredibly good at finishing 1 on 1 that I've made a case for playing him up front in a free role as a centre forward, with Dolberg at the tip of a midfield diamond behind him. He's got a great close dribble; really dribbles purely on technique the way Martial does, for example, compared to the more Bale/Ronaldo ish style of 'anticipatory' dribbling (which Kluivert leans more towards). What I really like about Neres is that he always immediately moves as he passes, really looking for the combination, and keeping awareness. He is prone to dribbling into trouble too much and losing control as he gets further into his run. But I'm personally really really excited about him.

sorry that my comments are all getting so long

Thanks for the infos, Ajaxsuarez.
I remember watching David Neres in the Libertadores U-20 that they won and i thought he would be an excellent player.
I just dont think hes a winger, more like a second striker, because he was a really good finisher inside the box.
He played only three or four games as professional in Brazil, so i'm curious to see if he can succeed as a Dutch winger.

Bit by bit regaining his magic after his injury now

Some cool recent goals:

unfortunately Ten Hag prefers to play Tadic as striker in top matches because it basically worked like twice, but this was Dolberg's first touch within seconds of coming on vs Feyenoord last night

Edit - do these embedded streamable videos actually work for anyone?

That second goal in particular was Zlatanesque, but all of them cool.

Forgot about this guy, good to see he’s recovering form

yeah he's my favourite player, weirdly, so it makes me really happy. he's also still only 21.

his general play is also getting there again, probably had his best match in recent times in that sense the other day vs ADO. Here's some (very few) moments from his game against VVV a couple weeks ago

but it's good to see him getting more involved because there was a while where he just was going completely missing.

Also has a good head on him

but worry sometimes he might be a little too timid (though he gets seen around Amsterdam nights out quite regularly...)
