Ex-Atletico player, maybe he feels a strong connection to them and doesn't want to join? Also quite right that Aguero wants to be the main man at club level. For obvious reasons he won't be for Argentina but if he joined R.Madrid he'd be second fiddle to C.Ronaldo.

Woody is working his way back through the muppet chronicles to 2007 where Benzema was the caf's muppet dream, all we need now is Sneijder, Hazard, Thiago, Vidal and Woody will get that statue

luckily I wasnt a regular poster when Sneijder and hazard Muppet dreams were around so I missed that thank god, I don't think my body could handle another vidal type saga though, that thread almost finished me off, I'm pretty sure I didn't leave the house for about 3 weeks and was constantly hitting refresh during that phase.

Wasn't Thiago's one even worse?

He's a great striker but I would rather want someone little more faster and agile. He could play basically only one position no9 hence he would force Rooney to play deeper again, I want someone rather Aguero-esque

I want him, but I get the feeling he'd have to be dragged here, a bit like Di Maria.

Maybe we'd be better going for a younger, hungrier striker that hasn't been tainted by Madrid.

He's very fast and agile. Aguero only plays one position.

Thiago thread was enjoyable even with the negative outcome. On topic, benzema would be a great signing, very intelligent footballer.

yeah he does because citeh don't have anyone better for that position but he could play from the flank if asked I guess, similar to Messi in Barca. Benzema can only play no9, I think you would agree for that, don't think he's agile comparing him to Aguero, Suarez etc. and his acceleration is nothing special, neither outstanding in tight spaces. That doesn't make him a bad player but not exactly the player for my liking

What do you mean by that?

And he has a great acceleration, his top speed isn't exceptional but his acceleration is excellent.

He's got everything you mention. Suarez is not faster than him. Slower, probably.

ability to operate in tight spaces thanks to some close dribbling skills and body balance. You don't agree with me? By no means I'm saying bad at it but..

Man, you are completely wrong. You are basically saying that Benzema main strength is his weakness.

Definitely not an expert but benzema's close control is pretty solid and his link up play is fantastic. Comes across as a very smart footballer. His finishing could be better certainly.

God I'd love him here. Great link-up play. A beast physically and good finishing. He pretty much got it all. Don't think Real would sell though. No way tbh.

Unless they can sign Agüero. If not Benzema will remain at Real.

Unless Madrid have a superstar replacement then I can't see them letting him go and to be fair I doubt he'd want to come here either.

Unless Rafa has decided to play Ronaldo as the lone striker?
I think in the past Ronaldo has said he prefers not to play that role though but Rafa being Rafa he might try and do it
Though if he does and Ronaldo is not happy Rafa will be out quicker than you can say Inter Milan.
But if Benzema faced being a sub most games he may push for a move (more likely at the end of the transfer window???)
I'd be happy with him or Higuain to be honest though I'm not sure we will get either

He's turned us down once or twice already, don't think he'd be too interested this time either unless fat rafa literally tells him to get out or play for the reserves all season.

the only way Benzema would even consider joining united is if he has been told he'll be a sub next year, and even then im sure that there would be other big clubs in for him

Leaving money aside for a minute, We can't compete for world class players based on geography and the current team etc... and as soon as we develop a player into something remotely good they appear to want to feck off to spain.

If Benzema comes here its for the wrong reasons, my guess is if he does sign its because we have paid well over the odds and offered him mercenary wages.

That's always the case with players at Madrid/Barca. They never leave unless told they are not going to play as much etc. anymore. It's rarely the case another top team takes players from their starting 11 who will still have a future the following season there.

Di Maria.

Saying Benzema would join us for the wrong reasons is bullshit. We cannot think like that. If the player is a professional he will do his outmost regardless of whether he loves the club.

Di Maria.
Ummm... That is the situation Di Maria was in. Wanted to stay and wanted a wage increase. Manager liked him, but the people above wanted to cash in on him. Even then, his preference was Paris, allegedly.

Same situation for Ozil.

Di Maria was forced out more than he was prized away. He's actually a good example of what LARulz is talking about, he wouldn't have left if he wasn't being replaced by James.

They had to sell him to sign James. They signed him before selling Di Maria and letting him go cos he wouldn't be in the starting 11 anymore
Indeed. I mentioned Di Maria as a supplement to your post. I guess it can be seen as me trying to disprove you, it really wasn't.

Ah right, OK. But yeah, players likeDi Maria, Ozil, Sanchez were key to Madrid/Barca but the moment a shiny new toy comes out then they will get rid of the old one. Which is usually, when the other teams get them.

It's sad it works that way but can't think of the top of my head when that wasn't the case.

I just can't see us after him, he's just not Van Gaal's type of striker. Rooney was saying in that interview with Gary Neville that he was required to limit his touches up front but still be capable of scoring 2 goals but that's completely contrary to Benzema's game in the last 6 seasons. If he's willing to experiment then fair enough but it just doesn't seem to fit if Van Gaal wishes to continue with that same strategy.

If his preferrence was/is Paris, why doesn't he say he wants to go Paris? It's not like we've not given him the opportunity. He's probably come to his senses and realized the French league really don't matter so much. All we've heard is PSG opening their fat mouths and talking nonsense as per usual.

So we have to buy Messi, Aguero or Suarez? You seem to think top end strikers are common?

Benzema would fit into Van Gaals system perfectly. But for me Real are his dream club & he may not be as motivated playing for United as he is for them. And his latest comments are pretty much he's going nowhere.

no but we should aspire to find that kind of player, Dybala would be a good call but he goes to Juve.. Everybody thought Falcao would fit perfectly for Van Gaal and how he ended up. Benzema would be a good buy but he wouldn't be perfect, and he will never come so it's kinda pointless to discuss this..

You are just a muppet, you want the flavor of the month. There is nothing perfect in Dybala.
