Bale to Real, Ozil to the Gunners
Suarez to Barca, Sanchez to the Gunners
Aguero to Real, Benzema to the Gunners

Get on it Ivan!

Benzema would be the dream muppet signing when it comes to strikers. It would be great to see him lead the line as a the main man rather than being a sidekick like Bale to Ronaldo.

He is excellent but I wouldn't want us to sign him. I'd much rather us sign players with 5-6 years of top condition guaranteed ahead of them rather than ones who have been at the top for ages and could fall off anytime.

In terms of ability, I think he's got pretty much everything except that he's not ultra clinical. Great all round game, great work ethic and stamina, capable of brilliance regularly.

He is fairly clinical

He is fairly clinical

Yep. According to Wiki, he's got a 1 in 2 strike rate throughout his career. I think he's capable of being a 30 goal a season man in a side where he'd be the main forward. He has to be very subservient at RM.

He's quite clinical. But he's not been prolific like an Aguero. Then again, he does a lot of donkey work for ronaldo so I'm pretty sure he'd put up even better numbers if he was the main striker of the team.

I'm a huge fan of his and I dont think he gets the praise his performances merit due to the limelight being on Ronaldo and the hype surrounding Bale (last season anyway). Would be an absolute dream signing.

My reservation is that I wouldn't really want us to spend big on an established striker again after the Falcao debacle and accommodating said player. I think I'd make an exception for Benzema however, as he would be one of the top three strikers in the league if he joined and capable of firing us to the title.

It's just a question of what repercussions it would have on Rooney and our midfield. I'm all for Rooney being ousted from the side, but he seemingly won't be dropped as captain and that would mean shoehorning him into midfield or completely changing the system. I'd rather we not sign Benzema and have a balanced side than side him and disrupt that balance.

Not sure if he's the guy to get us the goals we need, nor am I sure that he would be a particular upgrade on Rooney as the most advanced forward. For the striker position, I would prefer us making a bit of a punt on an up and coming striker, and stick with Rooney as our first choice in that position, rather than going for a big, established name like Benzema.

That said, he's a great player!

If Van gaal intends to play as he likes, we will play in 4-2-3-1, in that case Rooney or Mata will play the 'Litmanen' role behind the striker.

My dream striker signing, but i don't think there is any chance Madrid will sell him.

They'll sell him if they sign someone like Aguero or similar to his level. I guess all we can do is cross the fingers.

Was always a big shame we didnt sign him when the deal was pretty much done, one of my most gutting transfers that one. He would have been epic for us over the years.

Still think he'd be a great signing as he's only 27.

Us signing benzema and real signing aguero could turn out to be the master stroke of the summer. People who think he isn't quality just need to remember the numbers he was putting out at Lyon as the main man.

Still scoring 20 goals a season when catering for ronaldo first is really good going, he would be immense for us.

Why would city sign aguero when he already plays for them?

Would make zero sense unless they manage to land someone like Aguero or Benitez has (crazy) plans to play Ronaldo/Bale as the central striker and drop Benzema.

plenty of rumours to that effect doing the rounds.

Still think Madrid wont sell Benzema unless they bring in another 9. The only player that suites their star profile is Aguero, and he has denied reports linking him. So I do not see this one happening

If our proper CM's can't displace Rooney, well then that's a bigger problem than us signing Benzema.

Isn't that why we are (supposedly) going in for Gundogan & Schneiderlin?
I think a midfield of Herrera-Schneiderlin-Gundogan would be the business, not sure where Gundogan's head is at the moment tho.

Would be fantastic but I'm not even remotely getting my hopes up of it happening. I fully expect him to be playing for Real Madrid next season.

I am not convinced by Benzema. Yeah there are games where he is magnificent, but then again sometimes he plays like a pub player, like our own captain. His speciality is to often kick balls over the goal, where you would expect him to bury them in the net, which really is frustrating. He is a good striker, but not the world class one people seem to suggest here.

Although from all the possible options, he would be the best one.

So part of the summer plan is Schneiderlin & Benzema ?

Some French qualité in United, finally.

Would be a Muppet signing if true.

If signing Benzema means aguero goes to madrid then I'm all for it.

Madrid haven't even been linked with any top strikers yet(only a handful in the market this summer), so why on earth would they sell Benzema to United?

I don't agree with the pub player part. At least in the sense that unlike Rooney, when his shooting isn't on point, his touch and passing remain solid. I think he is World Class but he has been in Ronaldo's shadow so I don't know if he can still be the main guy like he was at Lyon.

I don't think van Gaal is planning to use Rooney in midfield. Rather second striker. This could work as Benzema is also quite good at this role, so this setup would be quite flexible.

Ronnie has said a few times he is not fond of playing as a #9.

Knowing Rafa, it wouldn't be a 'centre forward' role as such but a free role with less risk. It would mean he could play a more disciplined player in the wide left position so the team keeps its shape better.

Basically, Ronaldo continues to do what he wants but the team shape isn't impact as much when he's having an off/stroppy day.

Aguero definitely isn't leaving, the only way this could happen is from Madrid being out of favour with Benzema.

Aguero could easily flirt with Madrid to get a new contract since he's linked with them every year but yet he doesn't... we need players like Aguero (and not just because he's world class)

Like Rooney he frustrates infront of goal. Rather we get someone else. But if he's up for sale...

If signing Benzema means aguero goes to madrid then I'm all for it.

Woody is working his way back through the muppet chronicles to 2007 where Benzema was the caf's muppet dream, all we need now is Sneijder, Hazard, Thiago, Vidal and Woody will get that statue
