You're right. I think he will end up at Barca or Juventus. Koulibaly could be the best we can get if he's available.
 
Having this guy at the back would be huge instead of Calamity jones. We desperately need somebody who’s confident on the ball and will pass forwards quickly - or at least travel forward with it.

I do not see the logic of signing him. 28 years of age - played in the Italian league for a fee of £80m + who might take time to settle? I'm sure the money can be better spent on someone younger.

He's only 27. We'd finally be signing someone just coming into their peak years instead of the usual 4 years too late. It's an ideal age for signing a top defender.
When was the last time we signed any experienced defenders anyway? I can't remember us signing any over the age of 25 in the last decade, which is crazy really, given how long we've been crawling along with no top level defenders and no defensive leadership.

No, I'm saying Liverpool might not have spent as much as they did on VVD if he was 27 instead of being someone who is going to last them 5+ years.

So paying over £100 million for Koulibaly is very expensive.
 
Even if we get 5 years out of him, it’s a long bloody time! Pay the damn money.
 
No single signing is enough for our team, or enough to get excited about. But the idea of having a consistent first choice back 2 for the first time in 8 years is good.

So you're saying if Liverpool had had to wait til the summer rather than Jan 2018 they wouldn't have signed him? Seems unlikely.
 
People talking about age have to take a good look in the mirror. He's on year and a half older than VVD when he signed for Liverpool. Just think about what Sergio Ramos did since he was 28. Or any other legendary defender as far as I'm concerned. People talk as if every player is finished when they turn 30.

He is exactly what we need NOW, never mind how old he is, or how long he can can stay at the top for, just sign him.

I am non white, grew up in England in the 70's and 80's being racially abused and would be the last person to compare players just based on their color. I compared him to Bailly because Bailly displays the lowest IQ on the pitch compared to some others like Jones.

No sir, I did not mean Jones is part of the Mensa society, but he has a few more IQ's than Bailly. A previous post asked why I did not compared Koilibaly to Jones rather than Bailly.
 
If De Ligt Is not interested in joining us. Then Koulibaly would be the best option.

I think we would be better of by going for Konate & Godfrey, and then still have money left to buy a right back. Build for the future. Koulibaly would like to win trophies now, which we can't promise him the next couple of years. Lets look forward, build for the future, and really be challenging for trophies in a couple of years time..

Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig. Turns 20 in the summer.
He is strong in the aerial duels, very physical strong, fast, and he is calm and can bring the ball out from defence. He has been great in the Bundesliga and Europa League this season. Great player already.
