So that first bit is exactly what I said? Great work, Sherlock.

The latter has been covered ad nauseum.
Translation: I don't have an argument and I'll pretend that this has been covered before

As for the meaning of conspiracy: here is what google says: "action of plotting or conspiring" or "the secret plan by a group to do something unlawful or harmful"

So please enlighten me how what I said about LvG being a bitter cnut about United is a conspiracy.

If I was Timber I would also have some reservations about getting in front of Varane, Maguire & Lindelof in a world cup year. It will do him no harm at all to wait one more year before his next move.

I agree with this. Unless ETH is feeling particularly brave away throw him in straightaway and guarantee him that starting spot, in which case he needs to make sure that the player knows this.

I've seen a couple of posts saying that we buy him now and loan him back, which I guess would make everyone happy. On the other hand, I do feel that we need someone to come in now and do the job.

No, it’s been covered numerous times. Experienced players have more trust than kids, so will get more leeway. It’s very obvious really.

He didn’t say anything directly about going to United stopping him playing, just if he wasn’t playing (wherever that may be) that he’s very unlikely to be selected. Which is reasonable. The suggestion he did it purely to get back at United is a conspiracy theory that makes absolutely no sense.

ETH doesn't do reputations. ATM he is looking for someone who can play his style of play. There are no guarantees that Maguire, Lindelof or even Varane will hit the ground running and play the way ETH will want them to play. Timber on the other hand already knows exactly what is expected of him so I imagine he would have featured prominently in our starting XI

If you take your United hat off it makes sense from LVG and Timber's perspective.

LVG only cares about the Dutch NT and he seems to have Timber as a starter in the RCB role. He's aware of the PL and the time it can take young players to settle. He not only wants Timber getting regular game time but also wants him fit and firing and there's more chance of that happening getting guaranteed football where he's 100% settled.

In Timber's case, World Cups only come around every four years. If it was in Summer of 2023, I think he'd make the move but November is right around the corner. He's walking into the unknown and while it sounds great to say he should bet on himself there are way too many variables. At Ajax, the only obstacle is injury whereas United there is so much more.

Someone's probably already mentioned it... but wouldn't a deal + loan him back make sense? That way when he has a top WC we don't get stung by his seemingly inevitable massive price tag.

i mentioned it a few pages back and it seems the most logical win-win for player and both clubs

Funny how summer gets people to forget. Varane was injured and average when he played, Lindelof has been average at his best in his whole time here and Maguire was a luaghing stock.

I dont know much about Timber but why on earth shouldnt he be gettign thrown straight in and more importantly confident of doing so. We havent had a decent centre back partnership since Ferguson retired and we currently have one quality centre back getting lotsof inuries, a seriously over priced one who most people would have liekd to have seen gone this summer and a third one who is getting lots of games simply because of the oterh two even though he is simply not up to the task.

ANy centre back we sign should be getting lots of ames next season and has a great chance of establoishing themselves as first choice at one of the worlds biggest clubs

Two positions available

Varane - 28 elite performer at the highest level
Maguire - £80m current captain
Lindelof - seasoned professional, great ball player and reader of the game and comfortable number 2 to either Varane or Maguire.

So why do you think looking at that list above a promising CB at 20 years of age thinks he’s a guaranteed starter.

It could be a 20 year old Rio Ferdinand coming in alongside Pallister, Berg, Johnsen and May and I wouldn’t put all in that he goes straight into the first team.

So he's basing his career choice on the bitter ramblings of crazy old Louis? Can't have much confidence in himself if he doesn't think he can get into our crap defence under his old manager.

Wouldn't surprise me if Van Gaal straight out told him if you go there you don't play for me.

I'm completely open to giving any player a try, given our current state. If ETH trusts that this player can come in straight into this team, then that's perfect. It seems like we may be very unfortunate given the World Cup is so very close, and I can completely understand why a player might delay a move if they've got one eye on the World Cup, especially if they're already getting regular game time and are making a move upwards to a club with higher competition for spaces*.

*I say more competition, but I'm completely happy for any of our centre backs to be replaced. All starting 11 spots are up for grabs, in my opinion. Nobody is safe.

Would you guys be happy for him to be guaranteed a starting XI spot in his contract up until the world cup? If that convinces him to come now?

No since we need to strengthen numerous other positions and have a limited budget. We need at least 3 starters for next season which is a challenge with a 120m budget.

More the fact that he said if he doesn't play regularly he won't play in the world cup, which is fair enough I guess.

It's a valid concern for players moving this summer. Doesn't mean we can't go for him again in January.

I don’t see any bitterness from United or LVG blamed for where we are now, yes he wasted a lot of money and barely any of his signings worked out but I’ve always seen Woodward as the main cause of where we currently are.

When was the last time Ake played for City ? Depay never plays for Barca whilst Bergwijn rarely plays for Spurs and it’s the same for Wilnajdum at PSG, are we going to see those four left out because they’re not playing for their clubs every week ? LVG has a dig at United or goes against us every time he possibly can.
That's incredible considering Memphis is Barca's top scorer.
No U

It does, because the author specifically stated that Timber was ready to join us until LVG told him that unless he is guaranteed first teamer he won't feature. Funny how that doesn't apply to the likes of Ake or Bergwijn.
It does apply to Van de Bench and Wijnaldum, so what you're implying isnt correct.

Holland's next in line at LCB is Martins Indi.
In Bergwijn's case, it's impossible to leave a player out when he is scoring every single game. Should he be benched for Weghorst?

Timber is competing with two of serie A's best CBs, De Ligt and de Vrij.

True, but Ten Hag doesn't want to play in a team managed by LVG.

???

I wasn’t making a comparison between them. I was just highlighting that Van Gaal doesn’t come across as the biggest United supporter around right now

There are better defenders than Timber, I know this, because everyone else bar us, has them.

Exactly. I’m surprised if more players aren’t saying this to be honest - World Cup coming up, United not in CL, ETH relatively unproven…a wise agent is telling their client to sit tight if they’re an elite level player and not desperate to move.

Timber is not moving precisely because he isn’t an elite level player yet. Playing for United without CL or for ETH aren’t the issue here - immediate game time is.

Yeah was more talking about other players, we know Timber won’t move for game time already.

I am conflicted on this one tbh.

Part of me feels like he would be a good signing either this summer or next, but if we have a good season without him and get CL football then I imagine we go after another former ETH player in de Ligt. If he gets his new contract at Juve with the lower buy out clause he is negotiating for then I can see us being in for him and that might mean Timber doesn't get the chance to move to us.

It all depends on other ins/outs obviously but this really could be his biggest chance to move to a club of our stature.

He is a cnut. Players like Bergwijn start though he barely plays at Spurs. He doesnt hold that measure to everyone and it is also very recently that Bergwijn has been quality for the Dutch NT.
Which is exactly why Bergwijn is an exception to his rule. Same applies to Memphis. We simply dont have options up top. Memphis and Bergwijn are the best, even if they don't play regularly. Only Malen is a potential threat to them, but he's been injured and also not having the best form. Timber is playing a position with huge competition. Of course playing at your club is going to be decisive.

LvG did what he had to do. People who say he did this because he's bitter need to get over themselves. He may be bitter, cause he indeed never forgets when he's treated like shit, but that is not the reason why he would say this. He would tell the same things if City or Real Madrid were interested. If Timber doesn't play next season, he can forget the WC and Van Gaal has all the right to feel that way and communicate that. That is not about bitterness at all. The whole world does not evolve around Man United.

Another Woody masterclass, sacking him less than 48 hours after delivering our first trophy post SAF.

Indeed. That whole thing was awful. However, the Timber thing has nothing to do with LvG, but with playing time before the world cup.

I think it has, because Timber was already convinced to follow ten Hag until LvG interference by using VDB and Wijnaldum as examples.

if it has nothing to do with LvG, why is it being stalled or why/how did Timber change his mind all of sudden during the international break?

The poster meant nothing to do with LVG's feelings towards Man Utd. It's purely to do with how he treats players in positions with a lot of competition like you've named there. VDB and Wijnaldum have been dropped by him for not playing so he's being fair, not vindictive.

To be fair, LvG is defintely a salty old bugger always keen to put the boot into United, though he was sacked in a poor way ... but I don't think there were more than a couple of posters on here who were not over the moon to see him go!

This is false. There is Danjuma who's had the best season of all pir attackers also there. Lang, Gakpo are all options as well.

He is giving 2 players (Ake) the treatment which he has warned Timber for, it is just hypocritical. LvG is a very weird man, everyone knows. This is not beyond him or anything.

So you want to say that he puts his job in second place just to take a dig to Manchester United? Bloody hell people...
He doesn't have to put his job in second place, with the upcoming world cup and squad depth he has the power to influence players.

He is literally starting 2 players that don't start at their club over other top players that do start at their club. What he's saying is just rubbish, if he likes you enough you are exempt from this "rule" and that's it.

In this case he doesnt like Timber enough or maybe rather United.

I don't understand how it is on LVG but not Man Utd if Man Utd failed to convince a player it is his best interest for his career to join them, but sure let's blame LVG.
