Jurgen Klopp Sack Watch

I still love that Thiago picked Liverpool because he was convinced he'd be going there for a couple of easy league titles and a CL win.

He then got none of that, was injured in the warm up for the league cup final and has an FA cup medal to show for 3 seasons at Liverpool.

Sabitzer is another one, especially if he’s in on loan.
The fact Liverpool aren’t even trying is beyond ridiculous. Is Klopp genuinely happy with his midfield options?

Puts Fergie's longevity even more sharply into focus. Not anyone can take a highly successful side, gut it, and reinvent it again. I don't think even Pep is up to the task with City.

My level of respect for Klopp will increase tenfold if he sticks around and rebuilds after the Mane, Salah, Firmino, Fabinho, VVD era. Some of the pieces are there (Robertson, TAA, Alisson, Diaz, potentially Nunez if he ever comes good). The midfield is a trainwreck though and it's hard to imagine they'll find pieces that will fit perfectly there.

United fans obsessing about rebuilding is something else.

He's won everything possible with Liverpool, but his proving will be... "If he can do it again"?

No sensible player would be interested in catching a falling knife.

No

Nonsense. There are many great managers who didn't have to rebuild to prove their greatness.

It's a proof of greatness, not the proof of greatness.
So Klopp doesn’t have to win another major title in his career now? I don’t understand your point
If Klopp want to win the big titles again then he has to rebuild some kind of side otherwise he may as well just give up

It's the next level. Fergie's level. Avert your gaze

The post I quoted insinuated that's the only level of being great. I disagree.

He's won big titles with Dortmund and Liverpool. He could go trophyless for the rest of his career and he's a managerial great. If he wants to win titles he could rebuild with Liverpool or go somewhere else. Either way is valid

Your posts are always so strange. Contrary for the absolute sake it of it, relentlessly.

Well excuse me for having an opinion, I'll just nod along good sir

Would he be a great one one EPL title and CL triumph?
Wouldn’t the fact he could go on and not replicate it be held against him? I mean Arteta is about to match his great Liverpool league title haul with a team the finished 8th / 8th and 6th.
Why would he be greater than, say, Conte?Simeone?

Yes. Apart from the actual trophies, the level of performance he extracted from Liverpool, going toe to toe with a side like City in the league, making it to 3 CL finals...

Unless the goal is to compare against other managers.. you could hold it against him to say "oh Wenger is better than him", not "oh he's not great because he didn't do it again"

If Arteta matches what Klopp did over the next 5 years he becomes a great manager.

I don't know whether he's greater than Conte or Someone, that's a good conversation to have. But they are all great... Aren't they?

For gods sake, no they are not.

Sure, they're all great. Let's water down the great juice some more. Ranieri is great, Pelligrini is great.

Or maybe we can keep the word for a special few. Fergie, Ancelotti, Clough..... sessions

Honestly, I think he has reached the overstaying phase after the purple patch phase at Liverpool just as he did before at Dortmund. He should have sold his candidacy to the DFB and then get the job, especially with the next Euro coming home.

We'd be thrilled if we won 1 PL, 1 CL + played in another 2 CL finals and basically lost 2 leagues only because we were competing with brilliant City side. Pep and City made last 4-5 years more bearable for us as United fans because otherwise Liverpool would have won more if not for them.
Ten years of mediocrity will make Klopp’s record look great of course. But United have been sacking managers every couple of years for not delivering. Chelsea would probably have sacked him by now.

If you’re saying his past achievements would keep him in the job if he was here that could be true but he would be on thin ice by now. “Nearly” doesn’t cut it so you’re just looking at the actual trophies and asking yourself if the trend is upwards or downwards.

He hasn't won "everything possible", he's won one of the main 4 trophies once. In 7 or 8 years.
It's a distinction that isn't very hard to understand yet is constantly peddled usually by scousers.

Having come 2nd in the league a couple of times and lost 4 or 5 Cup finals it's an exceptionally low haul overall for what they could have won.
Obviously he's still given them a great period but imagine if Fergie had just stuck at winning 1 of each.

Apparently winning the 4 trophies once each means he doesn't have to win anything again to prove himself. Never mind that he's been there 8 years and those 4 trophies are available every season!
Not sure if he was around in Fergie's days but if we went one season without a trophy we all wondered what was up.

As much as we rightly despise the Glazers for their negligent running of the club I'd say FSG are even more guilty of letting Liverpool rot. How has their squad been allowed to get so old and why have they bought so few players over the last few years? Milner and Henderson still starting most games for them is hilarious.

Klopp has done an incredible job in the circumstances, up until now at least. Every coach has their limits though.

Yes, all told he’s a failure, given the squad/individuals/PEDs/referees he had at his disposal during his tenure.

In the all time echelons of management he will be remembered as good but not great.

Looking at it from 2 points of view, from a football point of view, I agree, FSG are the cause just like the Glazers.

The other way I look at it, from a United's point of view, I am not buying any of it. 2 years ago, we were being told omg look at Liverpool, FSG and their model, amazing, 0 net spend, we don't need money, FSG are amazing, they find the right deals, they get it done quick, they have their data model.

So I am sorry, just because they are 9th in half a season, FSG is at fault but 18 months ago, it was the best way to run a football club.

Nowhere near as ironic as Lego pep whining and bitching weekly about tackles, given what that club's former players used to do weekly.

No he didn't, as he has never won the Europa and let's be honest, only the great one AF, Jose and peppy have been able to defend their titles unlike wenger who only won when UTD took their foot off the gas and felt sorry for the nomads Woolwich girls arsenal and was a total failure in Europe for all they bullshit hype that came with him, and klopp can't either.
