Jurgen Klopp Sack Watch

He just signed a 6 year contract which will take him to 7 years at Liverpool - the same as his previous two clubs. I'd be very surprised if he went to Bayern as I do think he's invested into the idea of being at Liverpool for a good few years.
Almost every fan including us United fans thinks if the manager is good he is going to stay for ages but a lot can change in football in 1-2 years, let alone 6. After all how many Liverpool fans thought in 2013/14 that Rodgers would be gone 1 year later?
Sure there's a possibility he stays longer but if things don't go well Liverpool might get rid or he might leave for another club.

He had the same behavior at Dortmund but the Caf didn't complain back then.

Understandable because he is at Liverpool now, but a bit childish nevertheless.

He is much more likable than some other ex Liverpool managers.
Hope he leaves them sooner rather than later.
Ancelotti 's successor at Bayern mabe!

I watched about five of his games during his time at Dortmund so I had little informed opinion of him.

He is more likable than other Liverpool managers like Benetiz, Hodgson and Rogers but then so is Charles Manson.

My view is obviously biased, but I think he plays up to this 'hipster' image / attitude he has, and it's getting very tedious, very quickly.

Pundits and other fans lap it up though, at least he is a poor tactician.

It's the first time Liverpool has got an elite manager since Benitez. I don't think they will get rid. He may leave however.

Eh? Do you really topple Bayern by being a poor tactician?

Topple is a strong word, last time I checked, Bayern were pissing on them from an almighty height before he left. Created a decent team there, but that league (as in Spain) teams can be rolled over with ease, and you can get away with dicking around on the sidelines and pumping your players up. Over here, teams will continue to have a go and this something he yet to learn, why? Probably because he likes the cameras on him, getting his glasses broken etc.

Also, had the champions league place in his hands (via Europa) and fecked it up tactically.

Because they literally bought his best players. Before that he had consecutive seasons where he bested them. I don't think he's as good tactically as some other managers (I think his team selections are strange) but he's still one of the best in the league.

Where's this coming from? Odd assessment given what he's achieved.

This is judgement time for him though, last season he had a pass as he was new, this season there's less room for excuses. He'll get time though and I think unless things are disasterous this season, we'll see him next season. I'd say this season, they have to be aiming for top 4, anything less, as they have no Europe, must be viewed as failure.

You can't rush to judgement on the first game of the season, especially when it's Arsenal AND Liverpool! From Liverpool's viewpoint, the conceded goals are a big negative on what was a spirited and gritty performance, albeit against, well, Arsenal. What's going on with Arsenal?!
Had it been us, I think we'd be thinking the same, not getting too giddy about the win.

I think the problem for Liverpool may be out of their hands though, as you have to assume that us, City, Chelsea will do better than last season (or at least 2 of those 3 will!) and that Spurs and Leicester will be looking to be amongst it, as well as improved Everton and West Ham pushing for Top 5 or 6. As such, Liverpool could conceivably have a great season, with decent football, but still be outside the top 4.

Obviously, you can't predict stuff, well I certainly can't. The only thing I know is that it's always good to see Liverpool fail. But Klopper has a lot of good will in the bank, it'll be a while before that runs out and he may do enough to keep it topped up in the meantime.

With the playing field that's a bit harsh. There are 7 teams jousting for 4 places at the top of the table.

Klopp knows exactly what he's doing. Wearing a 'Pöhler' (street footballer) cap at Dortmund At Liverpool he came to a presser wearing a Beatles shirt, around the matches against Dortmund, i guess. He's very passionate during the game and in his interviews he can be your best mate, but you shouldn't cross him. His interviews are most times well thought out. The fans love him for that and i can't really blame them. Klopp comes across as 'one of them'.

I think he's been good for the league. You need characters like him, ups the level of the whole competition. I really like the man and his antics, i prefer Mourinho over him but Klopp is (for me) top notch and they will challenge this season. A club like Pool deserves being in the Champions-League again and i think Klopp will do it.

I agree with all the below... I'd have welcomed him here 3 or 2 years ago. Happy with our current situation but Klopp would also be acceptable.

Although I dislike Liverpool I have always liked Klopp (although I hope he loses every match and gets sacked). He is a good manager and I think it's nice to see the passion.
He's an absolute attention whore. Knows exactly when the camera is on him. I don't think we ever see the real Klopp on TV.

I do think he is being himself.

I don't think he is oblivious to his effect on people though - and is also intelligent enough that he can use that as he needs without prior calculation.

Meh, Pool fans will think he's being himself, opposite won't. Guess that's how it works.

For the record I don't dislike Klopp, I dislike that he manages Pool, obviously, and I did find him entertaining at BVB so I guess I could just be picking flaws in the fecker. As long as he doesn't lead you back to success he can be as flamboyant as he wants.

You're allowed to be annoyed by Klopp. However, placing Pardew as a man who acts up on the touch line and comparing him to Klopp is a strange one. Klopp isn't fawned over because of how he reacts to goals. He offered high praise because his teams play well and have achieved things. If all he was known for was passion then you'd have a point.

Pardew isn't in the same league.

I never said they were in the same league or didn't mean to imply so.

I merely stated they have similar traits yet are looked at differently. Klopp isn't only revered for doing well, it's also for his idiotic passion, there's no denying that.
Not trying to argue here, just clarifying.

It's obviously put on or controllable if he wanted it to be, I'm sure when he had that infection or tooth out or whatever it was last year he just sat there all game without all the gurning and chest thumping.

As I said earlier, I did enjoy him at Dortmund because that was only seening him in highlights or once every month or so in the champions league when there was meaning to show some passion, week in week out in the league gets boring fast.

I haven't seen any significant changes in his behaviour since he joined Liverpool, so I find it quite amusing that he's suddenly supposedly all fake.

Klopp gets his players motivated and they are usually punching above their weight in games. But when I am watching a game and he's putting on a show for the cameras it's quite cheesy to be honest. It lifts up the crowd so why not I guess.

But many non-United fans blaming us should realize that when it comes to football managers we are at some level always comparing them to SAF. We prefer managers to be a little more subtle. Most managers would get ridiculed on this forum, including Jose.

On the other hand, I am pretty certain that majority of fans who actually enjoy his antics are either supporters of Liverpool, Dortmund or Bayern. Teams he's managed or will most probably manage in the future.

Klopp just got some serious competition in Conte. He will probably release v. 2.0 of the hipster act now.

Yes, Bayern's fans preemptively love the guy who coached their biggest (recent) rival for 7 years, because maybe he might take over one day. Makes perfect sense..

I like Klopp but everything he does gets praised, like if he gets in a fight with the fourth official he'd get praised for "showing his passion" and we'd want "more of that in the game".

Yet if Alan Pardew does it, he'd get tons of abuse

Conte seems like a really likeable guy. Passionate on the sidelines too but not as wild as Klopp.

Thing with Klopp is that he sometimes seems like he is rubbing it in towards the opponents. And he also can be an awfully sore looser.

Conte seems brilliant. Sad that he is managing that bunch.

Klopp is many things but he's not a sore loser. In countless after match interviews he gives credit to the opposition and if we have played badly he is brutally honest and doesn't hide his disappointment.

He seems a totally different guy on the pitch as opposed to post match interviews and press conferences.

I think he gets caught up in the emotions when on the pitch and does come across as a sore loser and bad winner at times, but when post match interviews come, he's had time to calm down and rationale comes into place. He even admitted to being wrong to celebrate like he did for Mane's 4th. Going by his sideline reactions to certain things, he's very hard to like if you're not a Liverpool fan, and almost impossible to like as a United fan.

By the way, I like Conte. Perfect example was tonight: the winner - he goes to run to the right to celebrate the goal, but then realises that would not be sportsmanlike as it's towards the opposition's dugout, he goes the opposite way. I've seen Klopp run across the opposition's dugout and actually quite blatantly celebrate in front of them.

I know a few non-United supporters who don't like the guy so not everyone buys into the media's darling.

I think he's a great coach but he loves attention and makes the most of the time when he's got a camera focused on his face.

Tee Hee.

He is now just over t'hill with that inbred tribe.

Most footie supporters are one shallow , fickle and a peculiar lot.

Society in general is though. I can prove it on a etcha sketch in five minutes.

So Liverpool beat Arsenal and it's because of Arsenal's centre backs being shit. I admit they are / were. Most times we beat a big team its down to them not performing or blah blah.

I do see what your all saying but please when Liverpool beat a big team it sometimes has something to do with Liverpool being good and not letting them play.

Same as most teams. It's called football lads .

I want to really dislike Conte but he's just so likeable. And seems like a good manager to boot.

Absolutely ridiculous. Dortmund were nowhere near the top when he came and there's lots of very good teams in Bundesliga, it's tough to reach top there because of how many sides are at similar level.

That's the ultimate paradox we are often going to talk about for most teams, indeed. However, in that game, I thought Liverpool was lucky to get a wonderful free kick that puts you back in the game in the 1st half. Otherwise, it's 1:0 for Arsenal with very few balls for Liverpool, and a hell of different situation psychologically. The equalizer gave Liverpool some hope, and then there was a successful period of 3 goals that were truly great (but unbelievable for a Liverpool team).

And then Arsenal scored 2.

I think Walcott should not have missed the 4th one but well, it happens.

Klopp seems to ask for a lot of intensity in the game so I am wondering how much the players can perform (Coutinho already had some sort of muscular issue apparently).
His training methods at BVB were also a problem because they were injury prone.
In that battle, other EPL managers might have more chances to win it.
Although Wenger is another one who had a lot of injuries as well.

I am now interested to see how the derby would play out.
Tactically, this will be fascinating.
