Jurgen Klopp Sack Watch

Not true.
Hodgson, Houiller and Roy Evans didn't whip up much hate, and it's not just down to achievements.

But Bentiez, King Kenny, Rodgers and Klopp just have that horrible Liverpool manager gene.
Im guessing you’d have your current manager above all four of the latter group then?

None of them won either of the big two trophies and in Hodgson's case, he would have almost relegated us if he'd stayed. No wonder they're not hated on a Utd forum.
In the same vein, I couldn't stand Moyes at Everton but bizarrely, he became quite likeable at Man Utd.

I always thought Moyes was a fierce competitor, tough nose guy at Everton.

The second he got to us, he almost immediately morphed into a pansy who just seemed super grateful to be anywhere near.

Sure it has nothing to do with those below average managers was not a threat. What is it that only some United fans see about Klopp that no other fans see? He is universally more liked than the likes of Fergie and Wenger. Pretty much everyone loves him.

Are you sure?
Are you one of those people who believe Liverpool are the "Neutrals' " choice?

But you’d take the other hateful sods above OS?

Of course we'd take Klopp in now. It'd be mad not to.
But personally I wouldn't have the other two. Maybe others would disagree, as in football everyone is either totally rubbish or brilliant with no middle ground, and obviously Ole is currently the former!

I think that comes from you trying to dislike him, as he is the Liverpool manager. He was pretty much universally liked on here before he joined LFC. Players who have played for him also speak very highly of him. Götze said the following in his player tribune article earlier this year:

He's
Yes, I think there are a lot of United supporters who, unconsciously or not, want to dislike him because he manages Liverpool. What exactly do you find cringe except using the word "cool"?

The teeth, the fake hair, the image he tries to sometimes portray of this supercool, calm person when he’s a lunatic inside. That stuff.

It's a bizarre criticism. "He's only won major trophies with underdogs. Let's see him do it with a team that is stacked from the outset."

I dont get it either. Yeah he's proved he's been able to win the league and CL with underdog teams. But can he do with a blank chequebook and the best players in the world?
Personally sure if he takes over the best squad in the world if will make them the worlds best.

I think the 'cool' usage is a German thing. I don't know if there is any direct translation of that word with a German word but I've seen other German players/commentators use that word often.

TBF, I don't think any of us has any idea what the pressure must have been like taking over the most successful manager of all time. Even experienced managers like LVG & Jose ended up their respective stints in the hot-seat looking shell-shocked.

Nah, read Goetze's player's tribune story. Klopp comes across as pretty genuine, the opposite in fact of being fake or pretentious.

But let’s not start there. Let’s start with a good memory. We’ll start with Mr. Klopp.

He was my first manager, and he was the one who believed in me and gave me the chance to debut at 17 years old. It’s funny to see him now with Liverpool, because he’s such a natural guy in front of the media. He’s so authentic and he says whatever he wants. But I think most people just see the version of him standing on the touchline. There’s a very serious side as well. When I was 17 or 18, and not giving 100% in training, he would be so intimidating. He used to come running over and get right up in my face and start shouting at me.

I can’t really translate from German perfectly, but you know how he talks, with his teeth grinding: “You have to have more passion! You have to give everything! F***! Come on!!!”

Then after training, he would be completely calm again, and he’d take you aside and say, “Mario, how are you? Let’s talk about life. What’s happening?”

He knew how to handle me. He was an outstanding coach, but his personality was the most important thing for me as a young player. I have never met a manager in football who was so naturally funny. I will never forget the time I ran into him in Dusseldorf during the summer. He was going to see the specialist there to have his hair transplant done.

This became big news in Germany, but he was so funny about it. He was smiling, telling me all about it — how cool it was going to look and everything.

And then as he was leaving, he just gave me a wink and he said, “Mario, don’t worry, I will save the phone number.”

I said, “What do you mean?”

He said, “The doctor’s number. I’ll save it for you. In a few years, you might need it.”

Then he laughed and walked off. Most people would be embarrassed or not say anything, but he didn’t care at all. He was such a funny and positive influence on everyone around him. I have to thank him, because he gave me my start, and we achieved some great things together at Dortmund in those years.

Klopp comes across quite well in his presses and tv interviews but some of his touchline antics are cringeworthy indeed.

He for sure knows how to keep the media guys happy. In some of the pressers he sounds so fake but the media buys it.

I dare say nothing can prepare you for the step up in coverage and every single little aspect being debated.
Probably half a reason previously excellent or promising players come to United and drop off a cliff fairly quickly.

I dont think Klopp tries to remain cal and cool....remember when he ran onto the pitch for celebrating a goal and thats just one instance of many. He always screaming at the players on the touchline, i dont know what you mean by him being suppercool? In the pressers yes he likes to joke and laugh but what's the alternative to that, being miserable and downbeat all the time during interviews? Havent we got enough miserable-looking managers?

Screw his former players actually being documented saying he is very authentic with the media, right? You know him better than they do.

So you cringe over anyone who has had their teeth fixed? Or their hair? Did you cringe when you watched Ronaldo and Rooney then?

And you also cringe when he is calm? I swear I have seen people on here saying he is faking his "lunacy" as well.

If you dislike him that's fair, but these cringe factors doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Just because Goetze or other young impressionable players who got their first break with him like to blow smoke up his arse, doesn't mean much to me. To draw a parallel, some of Mourinho's former players consider him the greatest thing since sliced bread and are happy to feed his cult of personality. That doesn't mean that we, as fans, have to share the same view. My opinion, your opinion and Zlatan's opinion on Mourinho will probably vary a lot, and that's ok.

Finally, you're coming across a bit self-righteous desperate and daresay cringe here. Not everyone has to like your coach, lest of all Man Utd fans. Now jog on.

If you can say that you know someone better through the TV than people who spent every day for years working alongside someone, you have to be one of the best judges of character I have come across. Congratulations.

The Mourinho parallel is a bit shit. People can of course have different opinions of people. There is nothing illogical about someone buying Mourinhos cult while others may not. However, when people who don't know a person call them unauthentic and fake in front of TV cameras, and people who actually know them dispute that, itv becomes something different.

As your arguments are a bit shit, I am not surprised you resort to personal attacks. I already said it's fine to dislike him. You also don't need a good reason for doing so. Pretending you do is a bit weird though.

We will always find something to hate. We will love Klopp if he was our manager. Someone showing his passion and following his values will always yield both love and hate. Liverpool have a good set of players and manager now, with characters that we would be happy to have at United. Beyond our club rivalry, why can't we see that?

So many Liverpool fans here.

Seems weird for a club who are supposed to hate us.

I personally hate United but that doesn't change the fact I also respect them. That's what real rivalry is all about.

Now some snowflakes will speculate with the term "hate", but that is purely in football terms.

Manchester City is different. Very few people outside their fanbase care for them let alone respect them.

If you "hate" us, why on earth would you want to interact with our fans and be a member of a United fan board?

Because it's one of the best boards around and I love our rivalry. Maybe you should read my previous post again.

He'd have been perfect for United. He has so many of the qualities that made SAF great: man-management, eye for talent, and a simple football philosophy of getting good players to work their bollocks off for the team.

I'm sure some of the cringe stuff is just him playing to his audience at LFC.

Congrats on missing the point.

I think you have misunderstood. The Götze example was in response to speculation regarding Klopp faking his persona in front of media, which is what Götze contradicted.

Anyway, I find it baffling that some people put any weight on what is said in post match interviews. As long as you don't throw any of your players under the bus, who really cares? If a manager has something important to say, he should tell his players, not the media. This goes for every manager. People on here like to criticise Ole for going to easy in his post match interviews, which is laughable when you have no insight into what happens behind the curtains. Sure, some players may thrive under the extra pressure that comes from your own manager sorting you out as a scapegoat in front of the press, but most won't.

So even if we assume that Klopp has no idea what he is talking about, and that all his excuses are made up with no substance, it's still an effective way to take the attention of the press away from your players.

I might as well add that I don't find the linked interviews cringe. He is authentic, and mentions briefly how the wind affects switching up play in both of them, making it harder to control the game. He doesn't spend half the interview moaning about it. Brendan Rodgers was a lot more cringe, as he came across as very unauthentic and tried to be something he wasn't.

Well to be fair this is his take on his stupid quotes in the past
"The problem with my life is that I've said too much shit in the past and no-one forgets it."
As I mentioned in some earlier post, full marks for self-awareness

And Liverpool fans - you can't really expect United fans to get over their bias and be rational about liking or disliking a Liverpool manager. Especially one that is doing so good for us at a time when things aren't that good for them. So stop trying to convince them :)

"Vitor is smart, his English is good – which is important – and he has worked at different clubs, but is educated at Porto, which is good for us because Pep [Lijnders] is from there also. He also still has the log-in details for Porto's scouting system."

Klopp's commenting on our new coach.

 Fair play

Who is this new coach btw? One of the smartest things you have done seems to be the quality of scouts, coaches and medical men brought in.

This. I absolutely abhor Liverpool but Jurgen fecking Klopp. What a massive cnut to go manage that awful lot.

The more I read about him, especially the non-football stuff, the more you admire him. He has his values very clear and he follows them to the hilt. There's little pretentiousness about him. Absolutely immense person and it's such a pity he manages Liverpool.

I have little doubt that we may have seen Sir AF's legacy continue if we would have gotten him. That's how good he is.
I'd love to have had him here and was worried when they secured him. That worry is close to becoming the ultimate nightmare in May. Obviously, I wish we could have had him here but we don't and we need to find someone who can do the equivalent - i.e. take the likes of Milner and Henderson and make them out perform their capabilities. we're yet to have a manager post Fergie who has the players running through brick walls for him.

Absolute cretin on the sidelines. Obviously will never get punished for it because the refs love his passion.
