Jurgen Klopp Sack Watch

We won't be finishing above them this season, and they finished above us in Jose's first season. Whatever you say, after 400 million, Klopp has done a better job at Pool than Mou at us.

That cabinet is just brimming with new silverware

After spending 400 million we look like a mid table side while they are chasing City. Mind you imo reaching the CL final is a bigger achievement than winning those second rate trophies.
Nope, winning trophies will always be bigger achievement than only 'runner up trophy'. Of course, I still hope we can play as good as pool.

His team really haven’t been all that exciting to watch this season.

I'd take a run to the CL final over a league cup and Europa league.
Being in a trophy drought for too long despite nice football is what brought Arsenal to the joke they were with Wenger... Don't underestimate the effect actual trophies have.

I'm sure this has been discussed before but in order for Liverpool to go through, is them winning against Napoli at home sufficient or do they also have to depend on other results?

Looking forward to when Klopp shows 3 fingers to the Everton fans on Sunday

He has already done it. Three times fair play winners and three fiinal losses.

I’d love to see the reaction to United having one shot on target (a penalty), having lost our 5th away game in Europe on the bounce, and Mourinho coming out and blaming the result on the other team diving, then walking off before the interview had ended.
How dare he question the Redcafe's deary god Klopp, who got Liverpool playing "good football" and a "specialist in 2nd place"?

5 losses in a row away in CL games. Roma, Real, Napoli, Red Star and PSG.

Clearly, midfield is the problem. Their trio do well at home, but are inadequate away. Keita and Fabinho don't seem to be ready yet.

They just need to win 1-0 at home. If they win 2-1 however they’ll be eliminated

Klopps reaction to losing a game they deserved to lose is hilarious.

Klopp bottled it tactically.

Not surprising that, (given how Liverpool had struggled recently whenever the lost control in midfield), Tuchel went with a 3-4-3, with the numerical (4v3) and quality (Veratti, Di Maria) ensuring full control of the midfield. Essentially cutting off the supply to the liverpool trio. Even when the ball got through the PSG wingbacks could fall back to make a 5 man defence.

The right change imo was to pull Mane back into midfield, changing into a 4-4-2 with Milner as RM. Offensively, salah can play off firmino, or even stick to the right and render Silva useless (if silva moves centrally, he risks leaving space for Mane to run into) while defensively Milner would have been able to help Gomez with Neymar and Mbappe.

I expect Napoli to have a similar game plan.

So all the talk about Fred etc but how bad are Keita and Fabinho if they can't get in above the three workhorses that Liverpool have in midfield?

Keita especially was hyped up incredibly by most here, he can't even bench Jordan Henderson.

We should avoid criticizing Klopp. There are always few United fans ready to defend him.

Yeah they've been massively underwhelming this season and I see them ending the season once again with feck all to show for it.

He is still using the midfield he met there. That's a failure on his part.

Mostly by people who had never actually seen him play no doubt.

Three times in a row we won the fair play table"

Can someone explain what Klopp meant when he said this?

Liverpool need to beat Napoli exactly 1-0, or by 2 or more clear goals regardless of results elsewhere.

He said that in reference to the number of fouls given against them for, as he put it, playacting from PSG in the second half. He said they won the fair play table twice in a row so them conceding many fouls was unconceivable without the other team playacting.

I've seen him play a lot and he is certainly better than Henderson (though they play in different roles). The issue is moving from the BL to the EPL, and also from Leipzeg to Klopp's Liverpool. He will have to slowly be brought into the first team and, given that Liverpool are doing well in the league, there isn't a need to rush him in.

Gundogan was really bad in his first six months moving to Klopp's Dortmund because the difference tactics was so much, he gradually started playing more in the second half of the season and then blossomed into one of Europe's best midfielders in the next season.

You can't judge a midfielder after just 6 months.

Chamberlain had started like 2 league games at this stage last season. Robertson about the same.

I do think he's being too slow with rolling out first team changes like this, but there is a method to it beyond just "they can't be any good if...".

I have not seen enough of them to make a judgement so I can only judge them as to what's happening. When you've spent more than 100m to rectify a problem and you aren't still using both of them, then it's surely a problem

Just goes to show you how easy people on here shite their pants with any spending by opposition teams.

It's why I don't buy into the idea United must match City's spending to win the league in future - it's more complicated than throwing money around. Just need to spend enough to get the players you need.

But yeah, funny seeing how Allison is the only starter for them out of their summer buys. And he's not even all that good either. Just a bit better given he doesn't throw balls into his own net.

Just reading through this thread shows you that Kolarov was absolutely right about football fans the other day.

Find another board mate, you spend half of the time criticising the place whenever people don't praise Liverpool. This isn't RAWK.

To remember the panic when they bought Fabinho.

 You are such a bellend, thanks for the new tagline.

There's not praising and there's drawing the wrong conclusions. This place goes way OTT (to be expected) when we drop points, just goes to show you how things have changed. I expect yesterday's loss to be nothing but a distant bump in the road once we've qualified in two weeks.

Says someone who's repeatedly questions the intelligence of others when someone dares criticise the Liverpool team.

Not likely to happen though. Ancelotti has won the CL more often than Jose and Guardiola for a reason. They will probably score and leave you with the task of having to score at least 3 goals.

That's not what I did at all and even then, it gets done by a load of members (and mods) alike on a regular basis on here, rightfully so most of the times.

I never questioned anyone's intellegence, I implied that not a lot of people in this thread know a great deal about football and its tactics. There's a difference.

Anyway go ahead and criticize us a bit more.
