Jurgen Klopp Sack Watch

Klopp: "the whole population of Burnley was in the box. Why don't teams play open football like us and play into our hands so we can gegenbone them?" :wenger:
This picture

Once a coach starts giving all kinds of excuses despite his team is giving points away you know the situation is bad.

Personally I think they lost 2 points cause of United offside goal.

They played Sevilla during the week and we played Basel don't forget.

I don't think Klopp is a bad manager, in fact it's Klopp's ability that is keeping Liverpool in the top 6, otherwise they would be a mid table/ lower half team, and with some luck they will be fighting relagation.

Even if SAF manages Liverpool under the current climate he will have the same results as Klopp.

Klopp' biggest mistake was taking over Liverpool, a club that has no money and not an elite club anymore in world football, where pressure to perform is very high, he will not get the time to build a team like he did with Dourtmund.

As far as I am concerned he should have waited until the end of 2015/16 season easily Arsenal a club I think which would suited him perfectly would have come in for him or even with some luck us or Barcelona might have approached him given the managerial changes both clubs went through.

I kind of feel people hold Liverpool to unrealistically high standards -- they're 5th in turnover, and don't have a wealthy foreign backer. It shouldn't shock anyone that they're a fringe CL place / solid EL place contender, and occasionally dropping games like this (they were robbed by the ref, by the way).

Klopp is an excellent manager, but he's no miracle worker -- at Dortmund he only had one massive rival, and there were no other 'World Class' managers in the league. Here, he's jostling for position with Mou, Pep, Conte, Wenger, and Poch, all but the last wielding a larger chequebook.

People are a little harsh on Klopp. I hate Liverpool but can't hate on Klopp as he's an excellent manager. I don't think he prioritizes short-term success over long-term success. He is building a team for the future and is currently a couple of pieces away from the team we truly wants. Once Klopp gets a world class centre back(Van Dijk) and lemar and Narby Keita then you will see a totally different Liverpool team. Liverpool fans haven't turned on Klopp because they know they are damn lucky to get a manager of his calibre, I would say Liverpool are punching above their weight with Klopp.

Yeah sure. 3 or 4 summers more and he'll get the team he wants.

Their fans are the most deluded annoying bunch in the world. The way they try and get behind the team is cringeworthy, literally every time they win the ball back the fans applaud like they've won the champions league. They all genuinely believe they are the most exciting team in the world but they are utterly predictable and without mane, the attack is nothing special. Suarez on his own was better to watch than those 3 playing today, and more effective.

What will happen if Liverpool get a decent goalkeeper and a good defender, they might get a good chance of winning. Wonder how a club cannot just take a look at their problems and solve it.

Not sure you can knock the fans for getting behind the team, especially since many on here are giving our own fans shite for being quiet at OT. They are deluded, but I think a lot are starting to see it for what it is now. I still can't believe Klopp didn't sign a centre back, it was too obvious they needed one.

At least they started getting frustrated with klavan today.

Klopp is overrated, he won't ever get into the elite of football managers.

The thing is, they have a wealthy foreign backer but you're right, Kloppo's not a miracle worker, just another poet of football, fitting the RAWK fantasy adventure genre.

Kinda feel for Liverpool ? The rivalry is on despite compassion tears from the oppo fans. Absolutely nothing changed, they got what they wanted (Klopp) and hopefully somebody makes them Beavis statue outside Anfield for further banter piss.

...and then you wake up from a pleasant dream just to find out, you don't have Van Dijk, you have Klavan, no Lemar, just Ox and Naby Keita is not even at the club yet after paying hefty sum.

Being harsh on Klopp after season of criticising Mourinho's way of running things in half of the media outlets ? Just because the guy wanted to provide De Gea with defense worthy of a world class keeper ? Seriously people, have some feckin decency. Even Arsenal fans spotted bullshit from their own manager who unlike Klopp got some impressive league record and still can bring piece of silverware home, from time to time.

For everyone criticising Klopp who could Liverpool get as a manager that would be better? Yes, I agree he should have got a CB and was stubborn in only having one target however he's not the only manager that does this, Mourinho didn't get a winger or a fullback despite obvious weaknesses in those positions and Arsene Wenger similarly annoys fans also with failure to address weaknesses in the squad. Maybe the managers are truly blind to the weaknesses in the squad but maybe it's because the owners haven't given them the budget to address all the weaknesses in the team or the targeted players didn't want to come to the club. None of us a privy to the inside workings of the club.

I love Klopp and he's definitely the right man for the job...

I'm just saying - regardless of the context, when this is the most common intro to any discussion regarding the team, it's a fecking cult. It literally cannot be Klopps fault.

Mourinho tried for perisic quite openly and inter would not sell. We didn't settle for a random winger like Liverpool did when buying ox. We have good young inconsistent wide players who I still think Jose trusts and doesn't want to buy some random average joe just for the sake of it like Liverpool did with Ox.

Klopp is a fool. An absolute spoofer. I keep saying it and I know I am right the all out attack system completely exposes liverpool defence. Liverpool midfield is completely brain dead. Just look at Can today for the goal. Matip was awful granted (the next rio!) granted but Can was completely a bystander. A half decent defensive mid covers the space where the ball is dropping or at very least stays with runner to make him not have a free shot at goal. Every single mistake they are punished because they have zero help.

I keep saying it just watch how many times Liverpool midfield are wrong side of the ball and expose defensive mistakes which every team make. There is zero risk mitigation and that comes from the tactics set out by the manager. Criminal.

Absolutely true, we don't know what secret meetings hide, except that one statement from LFC's official website, apologising for tapping up a 50m defender. They had some budget to spend, but we cannot just assume Van Dijk was the only defender available at the market. Conte would be absolutely delighted with that purchase and he was put on some blast after failing in achieving multiple targets, then he moved on and managed to get Rudiger for about 35m who's not too bad at all, the price was fairly decent, easily in financial range for LFC.

With everything else I can agree. Klopp can be good but is he good enough for Liverpool ? It's still bigger club than Borussia and so far guy like Dalglish achieved almost the same as a manager for them, after almost two years.

Liverpool's style of attack reminds me of our own from the late 90s. Ballistic, kinetic, frenetic.

The players however, different story.

He had a centre back better than anyone else at the club in Sakho and was too stubborn to play him.

Did you just compare Jurgen Klopp to Sir Alex Ferguson?

FFS man, what are you taking?

Ferguson would win the league with that team.

Is he seriously implying that there are no CB that could have improved Klavan or Lovren? This guy is delusional.

I don't think Liverpool's centre backs are as bad as everyone suggests. They play an open high pressing style which puts a lot of pressure on the defenders. When Lovren was at Southampton he was undoubtedly their best defender (far better than Fonte who was linked with United last season). Matip looks a very good defender too.

I don't think Van Dijk would improve their defensive record much. They could tighten up defensively if they played more conservatively but that would blunt their attack and make them less dangerous. Being suspect defensively is the price you pay for playing that style. I think Klopp is doing a really good job there. He's completely delusional and acts like a complete arse but as a United fan, I would be delighted if they got rid of him.

There's a lot of quality managers in the league at the moment and Klopp is one of them. He's the weakest of them all though imo.

His complete neglect for defending, his insistence in running his players into the ground all season long are mistakes.
