Jurgen Klopp Sack Watch

It's pre-season dude. Just kinda shows Liverpool's level, that entire statement.

Personally I like the fact that United fans can't stand him. He's a Liverpool manager so he could be as quite and unassuming as someone like Gianfranco Zola and he would still be hated by United fans IF he brought us success. The only Liverpool manager that United fans didn't mind was Hodgson, that's because everyone knew he was an incompetent and not a threat. Basically what I'm trying to say is this thread has 321 pages because he may be a twat in the eyes of United fans but deep down they still know he's improved us quite a bit and they are obviously not going to like that since they hate our guts.

To be honest we haven't really viewed any of your managers the last 20 years as being a threat.

Ok. But you would agree a manager like Klopp is in a different league to someone like Hodgson, I probably worded it wrong but I was trying to say if someone isn't seen as a threat they won't get no heat and no problems see Wenger with United past decade.

I considered Houllier and Benitez was definitely superior to Klopp but yes Klopp obviously better than Woy and you'd also have to say Rodgers.

Harsh, Evans was quite good and just about within 20 years.

@Oga on top.
I don't hate Liverpool. Klopp is a good coach and has Liverpool playing really high quality football when attacking. Not sure if he's improved you far beyond what I've seen in the last few years as your style and quality is pretty similar to the Rodgers 2nd place season, but you are stronger under him. That said, can't really call him a threat though, Liverpool tend to defend comically and over here he's only pulled off a top four finish once. Then there's his teams' curious history with cup finals, 6/6 losses now? Some quite classless behaviour too, I don't really care about that but it's hypocritical to point to Mourinho and ignore Klopp acting like a petulant child, no class and dignity trophy for him.

If he made some good defensive signings/promotions from the kids, maybe brought in a new defensive coach, then they'd be seen as closer to winning something to the world outside rawk. Granted it's obvious where you need to strengthen and the board hasn't sorted that out, but can see him being under pressure if you haven't won anything this season, which is very likely.

Does there have to always be a rational explanation to everything? We hate them and they hate us. It's as simple as that most of the time with rivalry.

Owl face is in last place obviously, then Rodgers for that last season he served up with us, then Houllier who I very much loved back in the day. Couldn't believe when he didn't sign Anelka. Benitez and Klopp joint top. I am aware Klopp hasn't even won us a trophy but he will have done before he leaves us imo so there it is. *I'm omitting Kenny from this list because I don't want some of the usual suspects to bring up shit topics like the T-shirt gaffe, Suarez etc.. I can't be bothered discussing that today.

Not at all, we don't see him or Liverpool as a threat in the slightest. We don't like him, not because he is your manager, but because he's a stark raving loon who says unbelievably stupid stuff all the time.

Yeah, we can agree that Hodgson is a league or two above Klopp, 12 trophies to 5 in his career.

I agree. Good post. I would be lying if i said the cup final record didn't concern me a bit but I think 3/4 of those losses was to Bayern who despite what some say were a class team at the time. It's not an excuse a lost final is a lost final but one thing to consider is the opposition, all 6 of those teams that beat him in finals had a starting Xl that was as good as if not better than his teams. But I agree, hopefully if we do get to a final this season it's against a cannon fodder side but knowing us that would probably be an issue as well. The Klopp peronsality issue is difficult because I love the man but would prefer if he complained less, not because its antagonising the other teams fan base I don't care about that but more the oppositions manager. If you keep taking shots saying "they don't play football, they only defend" when the reverse fixture comes up they'll repeat it. He has nothing to gain from some of the comments he makes but I remember being shocked with some of the things Mourinho and Fergie used to come out with. Maybe you have to be a bit of a knob to be successful, I don't know

Actually only 2 of the final losses were to Bayern, the others were Wolfsburg, Man City and Sevilla.
Point still stands. Sevilla two years ago were on par with that Liverpool side if not better Man City were better than us the season they beat us in the final as well. Wolfsburg had De Bruyne playing like prime Zidane the season they beat Dortmund that season. Ok I'll say Klopp probably should have won the Wolfsburg final.

I wonder if somewhere Marcel Keizer said ' the difference is we had to play Manchester United, whereas Seville just had to play Liverpool. That's the difference'

How'd Klopp take that I wonder?

Too bad he's never played Ajax in a final.
Seriously though we would have thumped Ajax in that final, they were a bunch of fecking boys against you lot. I remember that Ajax fan in the final build up thread was talking like they were this reincarnation of the Ajax team from the 70s.

Biggest difference between Hodgson and Klopp is that Hodgson was man enough to speak his own mind and be his own man at times, instead of buying into and encouraging the Liverpool delusions. Klopp seems to excel here and taking it to new levels.

I wouldnt have any problem with a Liverpool manager if they spoke/acted rationally but they rarely do.

Yous couldn't even beat Wolves. Calm down.

This thread was started in 2015. Almost 2 years back. A thread about neymar leaving Barca started after Di marzio broke it maybe a week ago has close to 100 pages here. People here love to talk

 it's the exact opposite. Those two cowboys who almost ruined the club brought in Hodgson because he is the epitome of a yes man.

I would quite enjoy it if next season a manager called him out on his inane ramblings. So far he's had a relatively free ride to say whatever the feck he likes without being pulled up on it because charisma.

Good point, that is a unique transfer though. Bound to set tongues racing. Or typing in this case.

How can a so called world class manager be so entitled that he criticises any team that defends well against his tactics to be playing only for the result ? If anything, it just shows how one dimensional and clueless he is when teams start to match up to his tactics. Liverpool fans on here can deflect all this by telling us how obsessed we are of him, but the reality is time and again your manager makes idiotic hypocritic entitled asinine comments like these to deflect the attention from his own failings.

He hasn't even got charisma. He's just a twat who wears a tracksuit and plays up the whole "Cool PE teacher" act. He loves the cameras and the English media suck it up.

It eats away at him that Mourinho won the two finals he couldn't.

World Class my hole. How many Champions Leagues has this world class manager won?

Rodgers even did better at Liverpool.

I quite agree. He won the Bundesliga when Bayern were going through their rebuilding process, ever since that period has done nothing of the sort to be classed among the elite bunch. That isn't to say he is crap or anything. He is a great coach, passionate and over enthusiastic rather than a measured and articulate one. However the inability to win finals and overcome teams countering his plan A shows to me he is not yet at the top level.

I wasn't frequently online at the time but what was the general Utd view of Houllier?

I remember thinking he was a decent guy, him and Fergie were great mates. I don't think he was greatly disliked by Utd fans was he? I'm not saying he was loved but he certainly wasn't as unpopular with us as Benitez and Dalglish etc.

And this is despite him actually winning stuff with Liverpool and having a very good record in games against us.

I thought this latest Klopp quote was just a Caf parody

I used to like him but it's quite evident he is a bitter, sore loser.

I thought he was a nice guy and yes he got along well I think with all other managers in England IIRC. Definitely not the right fit for Liverpool in the sense he was like able.

He "parked the bus" quite a lot and the same fans that go gaga over Klopp's style absolutely loved how strong they were defensively. One of my best mates is a Liverpool fan and when it comes to Football usually has a decent head on his shoulders but he used to tell me he'd rather win 1-0 and in boring games then be involved in 4-2, 3-1 type games and was more into a defensive game then a fast paced attacking one. Now though he's in love with Klopp and insists that's the way to play Football and he spots the exact opposite.

So what was your take on Dalglish and his handling of the whole 'Suarez is a racist' issue?
; )

Yeah, he's a one trick pony. Really he lets his emotions give out his and his teams weaknesses. Does he think mid/lower table teams will watch his interviews and say "Oh poor Jurgen can't break down an organized defense let's make it easy for him"?

He should go and coach under 10's if he just wants to play where everyone just attacks. He's dressed for it.
