"The cups have lost their relevance" says a fan who's team has depended on them for credibility over the past near 30 years. The same people who whined that United "disrespected " these same competitions before following like a bunch of sheep with changed sides. You haven't got a squad because you pissed money away on garbage. You pack your defence with eleven men after being gifted yet another soft pen before defending for the remainder of the 90 mins and then complain about "long ball" before doing the exact same thing, days later. Cb pushed up to grab a late, desperate equaliser ring any bells? Then there's the wind.

Get some credibility.

Being completely honest - it's a disappointment, but if we can secure top four then that will be a satisfactory season.

Of course bringing CL football back to Anfield would be huge for you and the season would be saved. I just find it baffling that suddenly in this day and age we have clubs seemingly only able to go at one thing at a time.

Liverpool had the perfect opportunity this season, much like Chelsea, to bag a cup and push on in the league. Just getting some silverware would have been huge for the club. Speaking from our experience last season picking up the FA Cup was great post Sir Alex and also a massive boost for the players mentality.

How United won the FA Cup, PL and EC in 99 I'll never know when you look how teams seem unwilling to play for it all.

Massive misjudgement I think, a lot of managers come into the premier league thinking it will be easier. Half a season wasn't enough for him to judge it well enough, i'm sure come summer he'll realise how much depth he needs.

I agree - silverware is important. But with our dire squad depth, playing a weakened side against Wolves was almost a necessity. That said - they still should have had enough to have at least drawn vs Wolves.

Bingo. Fingers crossed he's learnt this invaluable lesson. But getting the right players also requires a carrot otherwise they will do what they did last summer: just say no. Top four therefore becomes number one priority.
 
The idea that having their pants pulled down by Soton and then Wolves, both at home (after losing to Swansea at home) doesn't and won't have an effect on their league form is pretty naive to me.

Focus on the league all you want - it's the same dressing room and general group of players who took those hits.
 
This threads taken on a "rawkish" sort of tone now thanks to Rafateria. It's hilarious. His angry denouncement of "new" members is pretty tiresome however, as if somehow that makes their views less valid or correct than his -heavily- biased opinions.

I still think Liverpool will finish in the top four. Especially now they have literally nothing else to play for, and will have a full strength side finally available.

I think they will beat Chelsea and all of this will be forgotten. I'd prefer at this point for Chelsea to win, but Klopp and Liverpool will be hurting right now and they NEED a good performance.
 
As long as it's not at our expense, I want Liverpool to qualify for Europe. With their piss poor depth the extra fixtures and flying around Europe will break them.

I do think Klopp is guilty of undervaluing the FA Cup. He's been in charge for seven FA Cup ties (x2 Exeter, x2 West Ham, x2 Plymouth and Wolves), and not once has he played what you would class as a strong starting XI.

The longer the club goes without a trophy, the more our relevance as a big club fades away.
 
The owners don't care about cups, and have made that pretty clear since Dalglish was manager. If Klopp wants to keep his job, he'll not care about cups either.
 
8 first team players started the game against the 18th placed side in the championship. 10 first team players finished the game. I find the whole weakened team argument hilarious. 4th in the premier league vs 18th in the championship, at home. And they lost. Even worse, they deserved to lose, the result wasn't a fluke

Tbf to Rodgers, most of the team are his signings.
Mignolet, Lovern, Clyne, Milner, Lallana, Firmino, Coutinho are the first choice players and all of them are signed by Rodgers. Also players like Origi who did well.

It's pretty obvious what I meant.

Liverpool fans tolerate failure and mediocrity and so by and large Liverpool serve up failure and mediocrity.

If Utd had won one trophy in 11 years and then in the space of a week were knocked out of two competitions at home by fecking Southampton and Wolves the Utd fans wouldn't be shrugging their shoulders and talking bollocks about focusing on the battle for 4th that's for sure.

Aye, he was pretty hit-and-miss in the transfer market. I would imagine Klopp would definitely have more pull than him, too.

Didn't Rodgers say after he left that he never had any power in the market, that he'd have to go to that committee and ask say for a left back, and they'd give him a list of names, being a case of one of them or no one.To be fair he pulled some gems out of those lists.
 
Technically you could lose the second leg of a Europa league quarter final game 1-0 but go through on 2-1 on aggregate, then lose both legs of the semi-final.

This would be losing three games in a row in a cup competition.

Same with three games in a row in the CL group stages and knock out stages.
