Good research. I accept your point. But I do genuinely have a point here. He regularly takes the blame. Like last Sunday against Plymouth. Like the 4-3 fight back against Arsenal this season. Like the EL final. Last season's draw against Exeter. Plenty more examples.

He's unusual to the extent he takes the blame. It's a clear strategy but you've got to be a big personality and comfortable in your own skin. Rodgers would not have been able to be so magnanimous as he didn't have the credentials. Plenty of managers wouldn't be able to do it either.

There's nothing unique or special about the way Klopp takes the blame. Plenty of other managers do the same. It's easy to 'take responsibility' when losing is a rarity, and has no real consequence. But as Kraftwerker has pointed out, even Klopp is prone to calling out individual players. It'll be interesting to see what happens if Liverpool's rough patch continues, and how that affects Klopp.

You don't though. @Kraftwerker proved you wrong pretty emphatically.

Klopp is no different to any other manager in that regard.

The first time we played Manchester city, Chelsea, Arsenal and Everton away under Klopp have all provided wins. I am not the most confident I have ever been of a game against United, but I do trust Klopp and I wouldn't be suprised if he sprung a suprise to help us win on Sunday. The best thing about this season though is that even if we lose against a team who have excellent players I know Klopp will have them back firing in no time. The manager is the most important signing of the past 10 years I would say. Even if we end up 4th I'll still enjoy this season.

What about 5th?

Then that makes it even worse that Klopp still called out his own players.
I suppose it depends on the scenario. Criticising the defending for a goal conceded during a 5-1 win might be seen as constructive, whereas criticism thrown at players publicly following a negative result might be something Klopp sees as damaging in the long run. He got angry at a reporter for asking if he was angry at a Mane for the handball against Sunderland.

Yeah having read through this echo chamber of a "discussion", it's clear I'm talking rubbish and the guffawing mob have made me look stupid.

Note to self: "don't argue with notional received wisdom"

Your note to self should be "Don't make ill thought and poorly researched statements on an internet forum"

And we aren't discussing anything. You are wrong and we are laughing...

Or...I have a point that isn't disproved by selective use of quotes. I admit I overstated the point for the purposes of an internet debate (slaps wrist) but it's still correct. Klopp is a master man manager and his ability to shoulder blame so regularly is exceptional amongst his peers. I'm not wrong on this point - no amount of :lol: will actually counter my overriding point.

I'm not expecting support, I expect disagreement. Won't stop me knowing I'm absolutely right on this one though.

Have we got him blaming individual players though? Apart from those he has dropped who he then talks up as being potentially great next time they are selected, unless they are Sakho, for some reason.

Blaming footballers is left to other managers, who never accept they're wrong.

Did you have any 'other' Managers in mind, Pick? You might as well carry on digging, it's been quite good fun this, innit?

I said Jurgen was an 'orrible gobshite (just like the rest) right from early doors. (No application of prejudice was involved, obviously, :))

Some are better at (getting away with) it than others. Pick is right if he wants to say, or thinks, that Klopp is one of those. That's fair enough.

You wrote some bollocks about how Klopp doesn't blame players for losses unlike other managers, having a clear dig at Mourinho in my opinion, and were then proven wrong when someone presented recent evidence of Klopp doing exactly what you said he didn't do.

That's why people are laughing, your argument was proven wrong almost immediately. I don't think Klopp is exceptional in accepting blame anyway, he's more than happy to slag off the officials or individual errors.

Yup, blaming individuals for defensive mistakes. See all those links from before. I think Klopp does conduct himself very well generally, but as I said there's nothing unique about his approach and he has done plenty of individualising as have many managers.

In actuality, the guy who made the original comment wasn't doing so to discuss Klopp. He was having a dig at Mourinho, in response to a throwaway comment about Klopp.
